Waltari is my second favourite band from Finland beside Nightwish. And hearing and seeing them do Below Zero with Marco was a really great moment. Due to several line up changes, Waltari is basically Kärtsy Hatakka (vocals, bass), the crazy guy who sang before Marco. They were founded in 1986 and have released 15 studio albums so far. I don't know if there's another band, who is so creative in using extremely different styles and combining them so well as Waltari. One might say, that they put the term "crossover" onto a new level. Metal, Funk, HipHop, Punk, Goth, Folk/Country, Techno, Grindcore... sometimes all of it on just one album. For some people maybe too much variety, and I think, that's the reason why they never got really big, although they wrote quite a few songs, which have great hit potential. You might check out Atmosfear, The Stage, Helsinki, Wish I could heal, 4000 years... or their whole concept album Yeah! Yeah! Die! Die! A Death Metal Symphony In Deep C.
This is a great new version for this classic track from those Finnish metal legends. 🤘🤘🤘 Of course, as an intelligent man you know the famous Finnish novelist Mika Waltari, who's historic novel "The Egyptian" was the most selling foreign novel in the U.S. from 1949 to 1980, when Umberto Eco's " The Name Of The Rose" took over (brilliant book too). But, there's the name of the band.
I enjoyed this! Waltari is from the 80s and I've forever been scared of the way Kärtsy (the singer) looks like 😂 And you are saying Jani correctly, just the "a" is pronounced shorter 🤘🏻

It’s a tribute album. The original was sung entirely by the first guy you see. The album is the songs of the band re-recorded with other artist, hence featuring Marko.
🤘🤘🤘Waltari first recorded this song 15 yrs ago, and it sounds good with Marko´s vocals aswell 😉. - And Eric, you pronounced Jani just right when you first said it ( Ya-ni )
The song is from their 3rd decade anniversary album with featuring artists. Original song was released in 2009. A crossover metal band founded in 1986. A hard to pin down trippy band. An experimental brainchild of the singer bassist Kärtsy Hatakka. You can tell that he's fan of all music. Every song is approached like an unique project and an art piece, but not exactly mainstream radio play music. They E.g. performed and recorded with a symphonic orchestra already in 1995/1996 as an art performance for the fun of it. There's this funny clip from the project: "Waltari - Death Metal Symphony - Live at Helsinki 1995 DOCU". The songs 'So Fine!', 'Deeper Into The Mud', 'Helsinki', 'The Stage' and 'Only The Truth' are probably good examples of how crossover and out there they are.
Was Marko’s first venture very shortly after leaving Nightwish. Waltari is a Finnish metal/hard rock band that has been around a long time. Great analysis as always.
This was the first release Marko was in since leaving Nightwish. It was great to see back then.
