I read that Ren was operating on a massive budget on this video. Massive for him, to be exact: 1150 British Pounds. But talent still is in short supply. And real talent will no longer have to succumb to the coke nose culture of Hollywood. Knox Hill interviewed Samuel and he said this was the largest budget they had to work with yet. Samuel said up until this video, Money Game 1 was his most satisfying. Money Game 1 was shot in the basement of a building they didn't have permission to be in.

In a recent interview he was asked what he wanted to be seen as - his reply was that he wants to be known as a story-teller, and as part of the counter-culture. He expanded on the latter saying, if the current culture is polarisation and division, the counter to that is seeking ways to achieve unity. He also said that part of the inspiration for this track was Scarface and Breaking Bad, where the audience sees the character develop from innocence to corruption, developing an empathy within the audience. Even though the corrupt character may be a "dick" the audience understands how he got there.
I hope that people realise “the solution” isn’t suicide. It’s that Jimmy killed his ego. That’s why his daddy thought “such a shame”; his dad wouldn’t understand why Jimmy would toss it all away. It’s the same message as masochist. Kill everything that leads to ego.

Is this HipHop's answer to 'Dark side of the moon'? It certainly has a familiar narrative. It's a beautifully made piece that comes in a whole new format.
What I’ve learned about Ren is that not all of his music is meant to entertain us. It’s meant to educate us. He’s teaching us how to be better people. He’s been brought to us for a reason.
Yes. Ren is far more that a mega-talented creative artist, he's also a powerful story-teller and social commentator. Not one who lecturers or harangues, but lays out a story, with characters we all recognise, can relate to. He asks; 'Do you see what's happening here? Is this the direction we want to go in? With no record label, no live performances or appearances, (because he's still in Canada getting IV treatment every day) completely independent and even producing most of his owns songs, composing this one as well, he was #1 on the UK charts this week. I was a part of the money games, there everyday working along with other fans, sharing information and having such a great time, Ren was in the chats everyday encouraging and sparking us on. (anyone interested Rika Shae did a break down video everyday so that anyone who fell behind could catch up.) It is his connection to his fans and their love of what he stands for that allows him to do the impossible. Like produce this absolutely astonishing video, on his own with his friends (who are also so talented) If you watch the video he released when he hit 1,000,000 followers, you can see why we all love him so.
I wish that you had done Money Game 1 and 2 before this one. In this one he ties up everything from the 2 previous songs. As well logically, as lyrically and musically. Still, great reaction as usual
Ren's new album Sick Boi just made it to #1. It is amazing. The renegades had a lot to do with it, and the establishment was quite surprised by the guy coming from nowhere and beating Rick Astley to the top spot. Can you help us get Ren into the top 100 album charts? We need the radios covering the story, people to rally behind him on social media. Andrew Lloyd Webber sent out a rallying call for the album. A number one without a single concert or autograph session, almost no radio plays and hardly any music retail promotion. The HMV store didn't know who he was two days before he got the top charts spot. Anything you could do would be awesome.
I don’t know how you were even able to take your eyes off the screen to write your notes. Respect. 😘. Great reaction. Ren set 7 riddles based on the 7 Deadly Sins. They were supposed to be very hard to work out. He wanted collective collaboration. They were worked out in hours. £1,000 pounds. Each sin. But there was a second part. A treasure hunt. Ren is a genius truly. 😘😘😘😘. Ren is trying to teach us all. And we should definitely be taking notice of him. 😘😘😘😘😘. It was done in 2 takes. One before the wheelchair and the second when the camera went behind RENs jacket. Ren wrote all the music for piano and strings. Your right. Ren is a true artist. 😘😘😘😘
He literally came alive with me anyway, with his track "Hi Ren"!!! What hes saved up over Many years... then releasing them in the order hes has... is insanely intelligent!!! He has EARNED every Bit of reapect from me!!! And then Some!!!
one of your last statements in your reaction reminded me of a meme i saw the other day that said 'a cure is not profitable' with a pfizer logo next to it.....one of rens dreams is to have a miniseries or something with netflix and i think this video is the perfect pitch he can present to them (alongside hi ren, maybe even animal flow or murderer as well). This song was the highest budget he has ever spent on one of his videos (around 1300-1500$), yamaha loaned him the grand piano, and being the UK he had a struggle to find the gun and being specific it needed to be a 45 caliber to work. him and sam the videographer and the whole team did an incredible job with this i think, and 1 million views in 3 days is the first time he has achieved the million in less than a week so its off to the right track. Great reaction as always and love that you spend half your video talking about elements of it!! you could also do a Sick Boi album review as it came out the day after MG3 has been at #1 in various countries on itunes, and looks likely to chart #2 or #1 album in the uk this weekend coming
Hours of practice for the one shot. From the mind of Ren comes the story, the music, the production and yes, that was Ren on the Pianoat the start. You will gain a better appreciation in this trilogy by watchiing 1 and 2. Ren's vocals run the gammit from rap to rock and reggae as well as ballads. He has a beautiful tenor range up into high soprano. There is much to be discovered about this young artist who in spite of all odds has survived a deathly illness for one thing. His music and art.
Yes, that's Ren playing piano at the beginning! He also composed the music for piano and strings! Except for the opening couple of bars, of course. He directed the video and produced the music/audio. It was recorded live but it's not quite one take. They had to make a single edit, before the water, as the 'rain machine' was being temperamental. Yet another incredible and masterful performance from Ren and overall, an absolute masterpiece... again! :)
Great reaction. Thoughtful and insightful as always. I'm not sure but it looks like you haven't reacted to the Tales of Jenny & Screech (you'll want the full trilogy that includes Violet's Tale). Alongside Money Game 3 and Hi Ren, it's the third of the masterpieces. Not that they are everyone's favorites. But they are all mind-blowing and, like this, ridiculously theatrical and powerful.
Beside the artistry of Rens writing, storytelling and performing, this is for me one of the best made and craziest videos ever: All this in one take in one large room. Every movement of every person had to be absolute accurate and the camera needs to be soooo precise in every angle / movement, ... in order to show just that small part out of the complete scenery. And despite of all that complexity it looks so effortless including Ren and his performance! Chapeau!
Ren made a channel of VODs from his Twitch talking about this video. Knox Hills reaction has some behind the senses videos as well. And if you have TH-cam premium there is a "The after-party with Ren." Which is a longer behind the senses with an reactor called Wolf Johnson. All great videos to watch how this masterpiece was made. Great reaction for a great video.
I always appreciate your reactions for the deep context you put REN and his art in. Love the quote that he was able to do in 9 minutes what the film industry hasn’t been able to do in 20 years ❤
Thanks for the great reaction. Boy you did it quick, lol. This was his most complex 1 shot video yet. No cuts in this video. Hats off to Samuel! The Yamaha grand piano was compliments of Yamaha, they brought it in and set it up for the video. When it came to the end when it was raining there was no turning back. They didn't have time to get the floor dry again and Ren only had that one tailored suit, lol. They violinist on the left got her bow wet and they bought her new bow strings but she never flinched. Great reaction and another masterpiece by Ren. You are rightthat Ren is an artist. These videos are pure performance art by him which makes it so much more enjoyable. You will never hear these songs on the radio but you can always watch them over and over. Also, this goes to show why Ren won't sign a record deal. Too corrupt for his taste and the industry itself is what he is against. He just dropped a new album called Sick Boi this month. Thank you! PS, hats off to Charlie Woof- Bryne for the marvelous piano playing!
There's one cut. Both Ren and Sam have explained they had to make one cut before the string quartet is revealed (when his back is to the camera in the wheel chair) because they only had ONE SHOT to get the rain part right, and they didn't want to blow the rest of the video if the rain screwed up.
This wasn't a total one-take. The video was a one-take up to the wheelchair getting turned around. They had to cut there in order to prepare for the rain scene in the end. It could only be done once because Ren only had this one suit and his pants were about to get soaked. Moreover, the lavalier mic needed to be moved from his jacket lapel to his red tie and covered to keep it from getting wet.
I am a senior, lifelong music lover, and Ren has captured my attention like no other in YEARS! He is just different. Talent, with a story. I also like his LIVE performances. So tired of the lip syncing auto tuned music of today. Many famous singers today IMO, not all that talented, it;s all image and looks and packaging. Ren is a true artist. I really connected with your reaction, you are dead on Mr. Clark, liked and subscribed!
Great reaction my friend...he is definately one of a kind and in my opinion will be such an important artist for our generation. His understanding of the human condition comes to the core in all his music.
I love the bugs bunny memory. We learned so much through those classics. My first exposure and the beginning of my appreciation for classical music. Great reaction of this incredible artist ❤
I absolutely agree with what you're saying..I'm older but a massive fan of Ren..His message cuts across ALL ages.. because the messages he speaks cover everyone..How he includes all races and religions..no matter..A true socialist. Sounds crazy BUT I'm SO proud of him as a human being.☮️💓🇬🇧🙏
I love his ability to show us that we all have taken part in this (from one extent to another) and it's not just a they problem. It's a we problem. And he did it without shaming us only provides an ah ha moment. In that we (I) can be more willing to make changes. Excellent reaction!

Ren fans- Ren-agades are super protective of this guy and super proud of him. Thank you for recognizing him as the BARD he is. I couldn't play money game- that required coding skills i wish i had. listen to ren and lin , ren and samuel or ren and chin-chinchilla to hear just his singing. Downbeat is good for dance clubs and hunger for pure rap or anything with the Big Push and spiritual Lost all faith. My favorite is murderer i love the island feel.
There are tracks on his Sick Boi album which will convince you he's also a musician. His use of his own nation's music and language (Wales, where he was born and brought up) is a genius addition to some amazing songs.
Really appreciate both your dept of musical knowledge and insight as well as your knack for making your explanations both intelligent and digestible. By far my favorite reactor. Big ups from Humboldt County.
The money game based on the seven deadly sins.... The winner found the suitcase with about 5 k in it... But was tempted with the potential of another prize in a different suitcase if he burned the money. He gave into greed. Burned the money. Got nothing but a case of shells. Amazing.
Musically seeking the truth just based on the facts his reality speaks a word from the past an the answers were all there at last there's a man very young with a name and strong enough that we pay our whole attention to the old money game. 😊❤
Thanks for the review Eric -- I grew up in the 60/70s and lived through the excesses of the 80/90s. Many of us worked 80+hrs a week 6-7 days a week. Hard on us, our relationships and now in our mid-60s well while one has financial stability and a few friends - many of us have more regrets than successes. I hate house, garage, hip-hop and RAP -- until I recently discovered Ren Gill and the Big Push. I had fogot what a centre for busking and innovation Brighton is for many - wow what a street culture. Well worth visiting -- not cheap unless you know folk. Like any city not necessarily ultra safe -- it is ok unless you are stupid. I could not be more happy for Ren and his team for the success of Sick Boi ANd I hope and prey his health is good.
There's a behind the scenes of this video that just got released to the public (first 2 weeks was Premium) and you'll see how amazing this really is. Lol Its crazy how much talent Ren has. I'm Gen X too and I bought all his cds 💿 all 3 CASSETTES lol because they have different artwork, there are 3 different versions of the CD with different, 1 is the regular cd and there is one limited edition classified edition, i bought both vinyls, the tshirt, the Limited Edition Ren in a wheelchair toy, the regular digital copy because i couldn't wait, and then he dropped a Deluxe Edition of the digital version with 3 instrumentals and one song not on the rest of the copies. He's already all over Ebay. I hate that but that's capitalism for you lol
I also got that in Masochist (someone who intentionally hurts themself) that Ren is furious he has to kill off all of the things he loves due to his health. He never meant “kill” literally. The things he’s killing are the things he loves and he was angry death would take it all from him and he’s pissed. Just like here, we have to “kill” our old ideas on money and politics (things that divide us) and make new ones. We are the sheep and money and politics (as well as take as much as you can) keep us divided. We have to kill off our old ways and invent new ones.
Great reaction, first time hearing a reaction from you but really enjoy been able to analyse the musical the musical and message part of this film. Thank you

The way he cues the orchestra with his gun. There’s never any doubt that his genius touches every aspect.
Yet another incredible and masterful performance from Ren and overall, an absolute masterpiece... again! :)
What an insightful look at Ren, I LOVE IT!!! I consider Ren the Shakespeare of the 21st Century!!! Thank you for sharing!!
I concur 👍🏻🥰
Beside the artistry of Rens writing, storytelling and performing, this is for me one of the best made and craziest videos ever:
All this in one take in one large room. Every movement of every person had to be absolute accurate and the camera needs to be soooo precise in every angle / movement, ... in order to show just that small part out of the complete scenery. And despite of all that complexity it looks so effortless including Ren and his performance! Chapeau!
I'm so happy you reacted to this .❤
Ren made a channel of VODs from his Twitch talking about this video. Knox Hills reaction has some behind the senses videos as well. And if you have TH-cam premium there is a "The after-party with Ren." Which is a longer behind the senses with an reactor called Wolf Johnson. All great videos to watch how this masterpiece was made. Great reaction for a great video.
This could absolutely be on Broadway. It's epic.
great reaction, he has a live stream on his YT channel with his "grand prize winners" finding their briefcase. Worth watching.
Excellent analysis of Ren and his art. Actually it was spot on and very thought provoking.
I always appreciate your reactions for the deep context you put REN and his art in. Love the quote that he was able to do in 9 minutes what the film industry hasn’t been able to do in 20 years ❤
A Master storyteller and composer.
I love your reactions. So intelligent, incisive and real. I always learn something new. Thank you.
Very thoughtful, knowledgeable reaction! He's a wise dreamer is our Ren and I'm here for it 😊 ❤❤
Fantastic reaction. Thanks!! Couldn't have said it better. 🎶🤘🏼
New sub here dude, purely based on your excellent summary of Ren's artistry and thought provoking messaging. Much love from the UK 🙏
Needs a short film Oscar!
Great reaction my friend...he is definately one of a kind and in my opinion will be such an important artist for our generation. His understanding of the human condition comes to the core in all his music.
You need one of Rens albums up there with your collection!🥰 Thanks for your time! Always enjoy your input!
Great analysis! Ren is a master storyteller!
It sits quite comfortably next to Childish Gambino's "This Is America".
As always Eric , fantastic breakdown of the video . Ren really is an artist . Thanks for doing this and to Corey for the suggestion.
Had to stop watching to comment to say you're the first reactor I've seen take notes, even better I could see you were trying not to loose anything and staying focused. Subbed!
Incredible artist
That was an awesome commentary on this masterpiece!
The Perfect reaction to this Amazing track.
My favorite is murderer i love the island feel.
ren is the best out there
LOVED your rant... Fantastic reaction.
Ren did live stream few days ago " money game treasure hunt. The video at end after found treasure....wow...no words...
The money game based on the seven deadly sins.... The winner found the suitcase with about 5 k in it... But was tempted with the potential of another prize in a different suitcase if he burned the money. He gave into greed. Burned the money. Got nothing but a case of shells. Amazing.
Thank you for your insight. Appreciation from the UK. 👍
Love your reactions. Keep up the good work!
You share words of wisdom. Thanks for your reaction!
Love your analysis of this short film.
Musically seeking the truth just based on the facts his reality speaks a word from the past an the answers were all there at last there's a man very young with a name and strong enough that we pay our whole attention to the old money game. 😊❤
You get it, my friend. Not only that, but you know how to articulate what "it" is very well. Great reaction sir
Totally agree. Best short film I’ve seen in years.
Thanks Eric for your brilliant analysis thoroughly enjoyed it.
🌻❤️
I hope Ren could listen to your reaction. He would appreciate it.
5:28 reminds me of "wish you were here" cover art? Anyone else get full body gooseflesh when Ren takes off the hood? ❤️ #Ren
He’s definitely a musician. You haven’t seen/heard enough yet! 😉
I've been waiting for this reaction...
Silence and a head tilt from you means more than an outburst from other reactors. 😉
Fantastic reaction to Ren❤ thank you
I also got that in Masochist (someone who intentionally hurts themself) that Ren is furious he has to kill off all of the things he loves due to his health.
Really interesting thoughts on the video. Great reaction!
I also had the same thought of the Daffy Duck mine, mine, mine, cartoon when I was watching this video. Very funny.
Was thinking as you said about stories of Dylan, tangled up on blue, and Smon, America. - not enough artists have done that since.
Great reaction. He is a genius!
Ren is a modern bard, in all the aspects of what that *used* to mean.
Enjoyed your reaction! Very Thoughtful and well spoken
"None are so hopelessly enslaved as those who falsely believe they are free" ~ J.W.v Goethe
Your reactions are always well worth the time spent!
Great reaction, first time hearing a reaction from you but really enjoy been able to analyse the musical the musical and message part of this film. Thank you
I'm so behind. Finally catching your reaction to this masterpiece 😅
Great to Ren's music! Have you checked out money game 1 and 2 (the lyrical version not the live one. Also the tale of Jenny, Screech and Violet. Again great story telling.
Perfectly summed up, great insight so I thank you for this, Rant away that’s what makes you so special 🙏🦉❤️🐊👍
I heard REN say a Netflix film is a project he is working on.
I'm surprised TH-cam allowed this one through given their "community guidelines". This guy is the poet for our age. What about Money Game parts one and two? The video made me think of the story of Joe and Hunter Biden. Love your analysis of the song.
Éloquent analyses. This man is a thinker and more fortunately for him a Renegade😜
You sir , are the best analyst on you tube, bar none. Great insights.
Don't apologise for ranting 😂 that's what Ren wants his music to do.. Get people thinking and talking and make a difference 😍 thank you 😉
Are you planning on doing Money Game 1 & 2? There were echoes of both of them in this one. Here, here (or Hear, hear) Ren needs to be the biggest on the planet!
So right you are! 👍
Love it!
Regards.
Oh man great reaction... thanks...
Great reaction been a long time Ren fan but this is the first of your reactions very intelligent response
He’s knowledgeable about jszz / he references Django Reinhardt and Nat King Cole in other tracks.
Love your reaction.
oh you did that one. Now i'm excited :D
*edit* i see, you loved it^^
Really loved this reaction.. your insight was right on! ❤
Listen to Seven Sins the first track from Ren's Sick Boi album.
I concur
You really need to do Money Game 1 and 2 (the lyric video first and then the live version)
