Really enjoy these style of videos. The dude that does the soulslike games does good ones as well. Tons of hidden gems out there that dont get exposure because nobody has time to check them all out.
Have you heard of Duelyst 2? Game is still playable and free. Not exactly the same as it was, but close. They even have a physical card game set you can buy now.
duelyst 2 is really diferent, heroes dont have power, you draw 2 instead of 1. but Mechaz0r still exist, thats enough for me to play it. mechaz0r my beloved
Fun fact: Duelyst was designed by a board game designer, Eric Lang, aka “The greatest to ever do it”. And I’d definitely recommend like 90% of his games.
If the last game wasn't so dark and hard to see, I'd give it top marks. Like the spook factor of terrorizing or taking out the humans entering your home.
I really didn't like how it didn't show enemy intents. The multi deck system is awful but since I didn't know what the enemies did or were doing I just played the same way every single turn
@joses1191 i liked the multi deck idea, especially since the point is to mix and build your team for synergy. I didn't find the enemy intent to be a big deal tbh since you can bring a character that does that as their passive ability.
Rarran! I've loved a Card game called Pirates Outlaws for a very long time, it's very similar to Slay the Spire, but with some fun unique twists. Highly recommend if you're doing another video like this in the future. Loving the variety content!
You should play Elder Scrolls Legends while you still have the chance. Make legend before the servers go offline on Jan. 30. You're welcome for the free content.
I love how Rarran’s greatest dowfall is still not reading 😂 Love these types of videos!, hope you showcase more card games on steam!, highly recommend Chrono Ark and Gordian Quest
My favorite old weird card game was Rise of Mythos. It looked crusty as heck, but had some interesting stuff, like no mana but your cards tick down in cost at the start of your turn, and lane-based board where your minions move forward, attack, and activate their abilities. Also, Star Trek Adversaries. That one was closer to a Hearthstone clone, but also had neat stuff, like a Hero Power that upgrades if you don't use it, helping to ensure it will be useful at some point. Gorgeous ship models too, Trekkies would dig it. Sadly, neither of these games are around anymore.
Holy rare Rise of Mythos fan, I played it a ton on Kongregate, the multiplayer boss battles were so fun. The game's heaving corpse is still up in Steam (under some other name I have to check)
the cards are 1 for 1 heartstone cards too. ladybug is goldshire footman, turtle is river crocolisk the training dummy is just ironfur grizzly and so on
It literally just took the card battling of Hearthstone with the Roguelite elements of Peglin, but like not inspired by, straight up ripped them off. I think it isn't unique enough to be praised. It could have taken inspiration from those games without copying so many elements 1:1 with a different coat of paint.
@@BeeDubs93 I agree that it's not unique enough to be praised. It seems like it'd be fun enough, but ultimately can we really call it a good game when it's all just copied from a couple more successful products?
@rarran, I have not been watching your content since I have not been playing HS, but I stayed subbed because I knew some good stuff would be coming. It came today. Thank you Rarran-pineapple.
some more game suggestions: krosmaga - lane based combat, you place your minons on different lanes, and your goal is to capture your opponent's magic eggs, it's basically plants vs zombies but as a card game pvp faeria - a tile based game, it's pretty much abandoned sadly, but imo the puzzles are worth it, that's something I wish more games would do. (basically you have to find lethal with limited cards.) the great gimmick of this game is that your lands are actual lands so if you want to play your creatures you have to place the corresponding lands and you also use them to path to the opponent. there's also mana "mines" on the side of the board and you need an unit next to it to ramp.
Have you tried Card-en-Ciel? It's like combining Megaman Battle Network with a TCG. They put so many freaking archtypes in the game. It's just absolutely stunning how much work went into it.
@SpecterVonBaren I hadn't, the game is great, though the characters are sometimes a bit annoying it's really well made. Also I'm not sure I'm a fan of the scoring system that punishes you for fighting anything that's not the boss.
Actualy poggers content, keep it coming! Hope to see Commander Quest and Deck of Haunts when they move from demo to release-EA, because this two looks veeery lit. Card Tunes is... well, too much of "seen that, been there" and artstyle while good is still not that great. Rock-paper-scisors is lit, but from this video alone - too chaotic and... basic? Maybe if you play it by yourself its POG to, but on the video... not that much And yeah, Duelite
Tried Commander Quest thanks to you. 2nd run got a near infinite combo summoning a gajillion Ghosts per turn, ended up crashing the game on the endboss. 10/10
Commenting for engagement🫡 you rock dude. Got back into hearthstone because of you. Left briefly after because the game, as great as it is, still has a lot of flaws that I don’t enjoy. But I love your content. Play whatever you want to play and I’ll watch any of it. Also love bazaar the more rarran videos have been COOKING lately.
Yeeeeeeeeeeessss🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 ❤Please keep doing more of these videos. Also do not be afraid to play other types of games, would like to see you diverse unto other genres.
Rarran, you gotta try out Card-en-Ciel. My god, the game is crack cocaine for people that love synergy and archtype decks in TCGs. They have squeezed every bit of design space they possibly could from this game and it is glorious!
I absolutely despise how THREE of these games retain your damage between battles. I seriously cannot be excited when I'm pretty much guaranteed to win 10 battles in a row and the only question is how much damage I take during them. Not once will there be a tense moment where I comeback and win from 1 HP. And then the boss is a complete 180 where you know you'll fully heal afterwards so you just brush it off and do max DPS without a care in the world because you saved up way too much HP and potions coming in. Worst parts to copy from StS, IMO.
@@calebmills6051 oh yeah for sure, I just thought it's kinda weird that he didn't notice the map was basically copied from Slay the Spire even though he played it not too long ago.
I recommended this last video but I think card quest is one you should try out. It's a very unique rogue like card game. Not really a deck builder as is slay the spire.
Rarran, not sure how you feel about this, but I think you should show more personality in your narration. The streams I watch have a very different feel. I think you should embrace the goofiness instead of trying to be professional.
Another good game you can try is Eternal, I actually still play it mostly in the solo modes but it holds up pretty well as an in-between Magic and HS. Never really blew up at the time but it deserved better.
It pains me how most of the card games are just Slay the Spire clones. That second game with the army looks suuuuuuuuper cool and really shouldn't not be in Slay The Spire format and I think it would do a lot better if it were in a different format.
Did he get far enough into the cowboy one to see enough of the mechanics and gameplay? It just looked like he only did the tutorial and one level, so maybe it is good?
rarren i still want you to try elder scrolls legends man - the game is like hearthstone but is being shut down 30.1.2025 so its pretty much the last oppertunity to ever play that game
Saw - la - dee - inn is not correct at all, lol. It's Sal-ee-din. It's not even his actual name, it's his honor title - "righteous of the faith". He defeated the Third Crusade soundly. Then became sultan and founded a dynasty.
Man I hate playing demos because It feels like a big tease the whole time. And the only game on this list not in demo is the worst one 😢 Cant wait for these to actually release.
Win a fifty-fifty and then skip the reward. A certified Rarran moment.
I kinda love how rarren didn’t realize he was fighting his own deck and only noted the same relics, he lost to his own deck
he lost to his own deck... going 1st lol

Ironpineapple, dude's goated
33:45 "This is like the Sims, but for fucked people" spoke to me on a deeper lvl and I downloaded the demo immediately
so just Sims
I'm down for Rarran doing Iron Pineapple content
same

library of ruina (by project moon) now
If the last game wasn't so dark and hard to see, I'd give it top marks. Like the spook factor of terrorizing or taking out the humans entering your home.
Sees Chrono Ark in the intro. Gets hyped for the next five card games
Chrono Ark never gonna get the recognition it deserves 🥲
I hope he sees library of ruina or chrono ark in the future

3:40 Power Word: Pizza
17:05 POV: you're the witch in Hansel and Gretel
Whoa, really enjoy these kind of video so far, hopefully they do well and this becomes a series! :)

This game was sooo much fun, sad to see it go.
@@Jackspresso I legit think it was a better Hearthstone
damn i remember playing that back in 2016. they’re shutting down the servers?
Please keep making these. I love seeing all these cool games
The design is hilarious. A giant red arrow with nothing else you can see to click on. And the red arrow makes robs you of the items you just got.
I love how Rarran’s greatest dowfall is still not reading 😂

Skippa, skippa.
Great video. It snice that this format becoming a series. Getting more and more IronPinapple vibes. A recomendation for this series Wildfrost.

Very cool Mr. Ram Ranch, now play Library of Ruina.
Me: Scrolls though video.
Also me: Where is Library of Ruina?
I like how every game where there's any mana cheat Rarran immediately eats that shit up
This what I live for😭 ik HS is his whole thing but god damn do I adore him playing literally anything else. He just has the character for it🔥
Commander's Quest seemed so sick I downloaded it after like 2 minutes of watching you play. Its so good

Wow this time these are actually really good looking and polished games
Commander Quest definitely looks like a game that's right up my alley. I'll be keeping an eye on it, for sure!

It's not entirely a card game, but potionomics is a great game with deck building mechanics I loved. Definitely not for everyone though.

Rarran should try recesses, philosophy + bonkers card effects
I love these variety videos ❤
Hey Rarran! Love the new Format and want to recommend Zet Zillions its a great card game and fits this format!
Would love a video of you playing dead online tcgs like Duelyst, Faeria, Elder Scrolls Legends, Gwent, and Mythgard
Absolutely! Shout out to Mythgard especially, I've played it a lot and I feel like that game deserved more notoriety.
Rarran, you gotta try out Card-en-Ciel. My god, the game is crack cocaine for people that love synergy and archtype decks in TCGs. They have squeezed every bit of design space they possibly could from this game and it is glorious!
Commander Quest looks really interesting, reminds me of the starcraft 2 fan card game
You should try Screen Play. It's not paint level graphics, ofc, but I'd say it is as obscure as the games you've tried in this series so far
More of this rarran. Exploring new stuff is a lot more fun than "Hearstone but" n°58
Dicey Dungeon is what I recommend.
Hands of fate is another good one.
Prismata is my favorite Dead card/strategy game, I'd love to see Rarran try it
"it can give itself haste?!"
Haha we have a pro gamer right here lol.
That first game would be fun on mobile.
Does it say it can't? - echoes the voice of Cimo in his head
Cross Blitz is also another card game that really stands out in my opinion
You missed a great one called Become the Moon
'I'm cooking this guy...' in the tutorial.
No joke that second game looks amazing
Dude I love IronPineapple.
Play Hearthstone. The game died in 2021 but it’s still pretty cool.

The last game reminds me of the board game: betrayal at house on the hill.
This series is about to be expensive for me I bought two games out of the last one and about to buy some of these too
After seeing the first video, I immediately went and bought Forest Heroes. It's actuallt quite fun!
very nice selection!
Would love to see him play Mori Carta
you should try cobalt core its a very addicting game
Yoink and twist on iron pineapple
the first one feels extremely off
like really passionless and derivate
that "yay" feels like it describes whoever had to work on it
I just wish new online collectible tcg style pure card games weren't 99% hearthstone clones.
Commander quest seems cool
Doesnt it bother anyone that in the first game the whole UI is stolen from slay the spire?
Bothers me more that Rarran only mentioned it for the 2nd game when the first one was way more obviously copied from Slay the Spire.
yeah it's the exact same icons on the map that's crazy XD
