    Thanks for the video.
    I agree with RayRayslawncare
    I don’t think the Toro and VRide are set the same. Even if the markings are the same on the height adjustment…I don’t think the blade heights are the same.
    That doesn’t mean that it would change the cut quality, it would just change the amount of grass that got cut.
    Keep keeping it real

    Shane (and Don) thanks so much for bringing us along for this comparison. It was cool to see these brands side by side. I’m a Toro guy by default because that’s all I’ve ever run and most companies around me also run Toro’s. That said, I would love the opportunity to run a Scag to see what it’s all about. Have a blessed day! Man I want a taco salad now, Big “H” nailed that recipe. 😂

    • @DOCREAL1118
      @DOCREAL1118  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lol, I am laughing about the recipe!! I really found nothing wrong with the Toro but just looking at both they have some differences. I am so used to the Scag it's hard for me to find what I am used to in another mower. I would like to see Toro beef up some of the parts. If you ever get a chance to demo a Scag I think you will have some opinions on things you may not like. Keep making money with that Toro and enjoy it! Nice to meet you David! Thanks for the support man. All I can say is the velocity deck on the Scag is heads above the Toro, especially for the type of grass we have in Ohio. Good luck on your choice, if you have any questions feel free to ask

    52" TORO is $12k new, AnitScalp comes on the 60" Decks not the 52". If both mower decks were leveled by the dealer during setup, then the cut height should be exact on the settings say at 3.5 inches. Also, TORO warranty is 5yrs or 1200 hours. Great video comparison. Ohio springs are fun for sure!!

    • @DOCREAL1118
      @DOCREAL1118  ปีที่แล้ว

      12k, I had no idea they were that high! I agree about cut height if both set up by dealer. Thank you sir and you know they are for sure! Wet and thick!!

  • @jadonnoble5621
    @jadonnoble5621 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hey Shane. I would go with the Scag vride but you need the 61 inch to go with your 48 inch vride. If you have to get a bigger trailer then get one but in the long run I think you will be much more efficient and have the opportunity to make more money or at least cut down on your time mowing.

    • @DOCREAL1118
      @DOCREAL1118  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I gave quite a bit of thought to the 61, the only problem is I don't have enough big yards to use it on. I will eventually lose a few of my bigger ones due to people selling and moving. The 52 would just be more practical.

  • @stevecharles7118
    @stevecharles7118 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    You meant well however the only true comparison would be to measure blades to the ground and set the decks Accordingly, the numbers on the side are just numbers. The Toro was higher just by the amount of grass out the chute (or lack there of).
    I’m in Cincinnati and can tell you the Toro does extremely well in wet grass, the Scag clumps in wet grass. Scabs are designed to throw and go not manicure the lawns. Scabs as a result of the large chute opening also leave a large amount of grass laying on the surface. I’ve had two Vride 2’s and thought they stripe well because of the rollers on the deck I wasn’t impressed with quality of cut and dispersed grass,, keep bringing the videos ,,

    • @DOCREAL1118
      @DOCREAL1118  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you compare you make the settings the same all around. You compare a V-6 to a V-6, you don't set the timing different on the cars. Scag is for nicely manicured yards, I know this because I cut them everyday. Sounds like you're a great guy but have bought into the Toro hype to the point you can't see reality when it's right in front of you. I have no dog in the fight, I already own a Scag and I tried a Toro because of my buddy Tony. It just doesn't cut the mustard here in Columbus. Have an awesome night brother!

    • @raheppe
      @raheppe 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@DOCREAL1118 What a lousy response. What he told you to compare is blade height, which would be an equal comparison. You obviously do have a dog in the fight, it is called pride and ego, it didn't allow you to hear the man and you responded with your bias, which is to say closed-mindedly. You gotta have the exact same condtions to compare anything, and if one blade is higher, the test is not equal. That is how all experiments are supposed to work.

    • @DylanHicksOutdoors
      @DylanHicksOutdoors 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Love the Vidoes Doc, but all he was saying was that the scabber isn’t really cutting at 4” inches when you put the setting on 4inch, all the mowers are different, even if you put all of them on 3 inches you wouldn’t necessarily be cutting the same exact height because the mowers aren’t always set up the same way, GCI turf goes through all the stand on mowers and measures deck height and most aren’t even set correctly, therefore you probably weren’t cutting the grass at the same heights

    • @DOCREAL1118
      @DOCREAL1118  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DylanHicksOutdoors Appreciate it. I understand what he is saying, This is not lost on me. The point I am trying to make is that these are 2 brand new mowers off the floor. For an out of the box comparison, I put both on their 4 inch setting. Not measuring, just stock 4 inch setting and then mowed with them. One did a better job and one didn't, there were also other things that one had that the other didn't, not just cutting. You don't have time to do in depth studies when you have 10 lawns staring you in the face and it's 11 in the morning and the dealer has to get the mowers back to the shop. I am not a fulltime youtuber, I am a fulltime Lawncare owner. Thanks for the feed back but folks are taking this to a ridiculous extreme.

The casters are bigger over here, and to my eyes the back wheels are bigger. We have a ‘turbo force” deck which cuts in the wet and recycles grass better. Great video, a lot of guys I know swear by the grandstands/multiforce. My area is mostly Scag, Exmark and Toro, but I have started to see a couple other guys running John Deere. I was a little surprised that the Toro didn't have anti scalp wheels. I run John Deere so I don't have a dog in the fight, but if I had to choose I would pick the Scag.

    Hey, Doc! Good video, Brother. When you had the side by side comparison of the two mowers, I though it was a joke. Toro is a tried and true product, but to compare it to a mower with the same size deck, it seemed like they threw a bigger deck on a mower that could barely handle it. Not sure I'm saying that correctly, but it didn't seem to me like Toro doesn't have a mower for that comparison. Randall noticed the same thing I did. There are no anti scalp wheels! For me, in my washboard, crater laiden yard, I rely on those wheels, A LOT! Now, I'm not saying if someone dropped off a Toro in my yard and said, "it's all yours," I wouldn't use the hell out of it. I'm saying a good Scag is always better. Of course I've only had Scags with two legs, not four wheels, so I guess my comparisons are moot. 🤣 Hope you and your beautiful bride have an awesome day. Keep it REAL! TRUTH! God bless.

    Good video for a flat lawn comparison. Take them to the hills and you wont have much good to say about the Horo. Scag warranty is 3 yr or 500 hrs. For a little less than $600, you can get the extended 5 yr total unlimited hr warranty. No brainer for me! I've been demoing stand ons all spring and the Toro is the worst out of the 7 I've tried. Like you said, the cut is horrible, especially on my hilly terrain. And with the platform behind the wheels, all it does is wheelie. So good luck double cutting. Wheel and pump motor (Scag) versus transaxle (Toro) there is no comparison. I'm also in the Ohio area and the price for V-Ride 2 was $9600 before tax.

    Your process is flawed and irrelevant. The setting 4 on one mower may not exactly match to the setting 4 on the other. You are commenting on the fact the scag cut more off the grass and that is your proof of a 'better cut'. Then drop the toro to the next lower setting and see how that looks. You can tell that the grass was barely getting tipped on the #4 setting on the toro. Look at the amount of clover flowers left as you said. The clover didnt just happen to grow slower on the toro side than the scag side. It should have been the same height. So it is not going to be a fresh cut quality comparison.
    I appreciate your effort but will not use your opinions in this decision. (I dont own one of either of these but am looking at them all now)
