JB, it was a honor and pleasure to run into you the other day at the Depew post office. I recognized your voice as you spoke to the clerk and then recognized your face. I’m a subscriber to your channel and totally enjoy all the videos. They are to the point and informative and I have learned a lot from them. I have a Toro recycler mower I purchased 2 years ago. It has served me well so far but I wish changing oil would be an easier task.

All I can say is that I still have my 06 Toro recycler personal pace mower, Tecunseh engine, rear wheel drive, and to this day starts on the 1st pull every time. Original deck very minor rust, original carburetor, wheels and cablesI. I did have to replace the RWD transmission last year. Every year the oil is changed, new filter and plug. Blade is sharpened /balanced about 5 or 6 times each growing season . Fuel is always treated with an ethanol fuel treatment. The underside is water port washed after each use and is run 5 minutes or more to dry the underside and stored out of the weather in a shed. You take care of your mower and it will give you years of loyal service.

I’ve still got my 19 year old Toro recycler. The Tecumseh engine on it is still going strong and the deck doesn’t have a lick of rust on it even though most of the paint under it is gone just from wear. I just brought it to my plot of land in Bear Lake and I recently posted a video of it cutting down the brush. We will be returning there in 2 weeks to finally do our trip I was talking about.

I own three Toro mowers. One is from 1983, it is the blade brake style with three speed rear wheel drive. Number two is a 1989, rear three speed rear wheel drive, no blade brake. My newest is a 1999, front wheel drive, big rear wheels ( 12"). The two older ones have aluminum decks (no rusting 😊). All three have been trouble free, except for wearing out drive wheels. I change oil, and air filter yearly. So, Toro seems to be a quality mower! Why three??? One mower for my back drainage area (rocks). One for my nice lawn and one at my mom's house.

I’ve been running that same older recycler since it first came out and it still runs great. Best thing I did to it along with replacing a number of other parts is added a fuel filter and shut off valve along with an hour meter/tach. Definitely agree with you JB about that oil fill placement, such a pain in the ass! I’ve tried a number of different blades on this mower but the best one for it I s actually the Toro atomic blade it comes with, who would’ve thought! Update: ((optional add on) Toro part number 144-6377 traction assist handle kit) does fit all new Toro mowers that have the new baby carriage curved shape.
IMO you could make your own Toro's BTAH (Black Traction Assist Handle) from 2 pieces of wood in ((L) shape) and some bolts and washers.
Toro's BTAH converts Toro's PPM (Personal Pace Mowers) (which requires a person to push Toro's heavy mower forward before the self-propelled drive kicks in) to ((easily without effort) controlling Toro's self-propelled drive with just your fingers and hands without moving forward).
This is needed on steep hills where you need the Toro mower to pull you and this powerful mower up the hill without any effort on your part.
The powerful Toro mower can do this only with BTAH and not by Toro's PPM (extra exercise mode).
Without BTAH you end up pushing this heavy Toro mower up the hill.
Thank you for your help and understanding on this Toro (back breaking) mower issue.

Great video, I have a content idea…I have a 1995 toro super recycler and a 2012 Honda hrx, once fall come I only use my toro recycler because of how efficiently it mulches leaves(chops them up so fine you can not even see them). My Honda even with two blade barely chops them up, sometimes leaves are still whole after running them over. I actually just picked up one of those older toros with the Kohler engine free in my town in real good shape. Needs a new auto choke thing already ordered and I think the carburetor needs cleaned. I have a like/hate relationship with the Kohler engines these have. Easy and quiet but they have a fair share of issues as well. Eventually I might swap a older honda engine onto it if the Kohler doesn't last.
