    Just wanted to say such a great convo on dieting and training. I'm 6 weeks in on a cut right now with ~8lbs/4kg down so definitely slow but I may already be back down around 12% (back to about as lean as picture roughly) so going fast probably isn't wise anyway.
    The part about rebounding fascinates me because the only time I've had a rebound is when I did a super short cut this last winter even that was only like a 3lb/1.5kg bump. Even last summer when I got leaner than my profile pic at the end I held it for 4 weeks and my lowest weekly average was actually AFTER the cut was over during that maintenance phase. So I still don't know where my BF% checkpoint is where it'll all go off the rails yet but I'm not sure I wanna know either as I may not ever test it LOL
    Great stuff as always.

    Its interesting about the chest measurement thing, Im around 20% body fat and i have 114 cm chest but my pecs arent big at all, its due to my back i believe.
    I believe that if i will get much leaner (not single digit) most certainly i wont be less than around 110 cm.

    Thx, great interview! I'd like to ask, if maximizing muscle mass at about 10 years scale, what do you think the best approach is regarding bfr? To me the 2 most outsanding 'mass physiques' are those of Peter Khatcherian and Eric Bugenhagen. (By the way, if I judge more from a competitive perspective, Alex and Geoffrey are also really top elite level noe) They are about 20% most of the time at a rough estimation. Peter even speaks many times about that's why he quit competing cause he felt that constantly dieting down stage lean prevents lots of gains. My gut feeling is still it's good to cut a bit, maybe to around 12-15 and then have a long slow way up to about 20-22 perhaps with some mini cuts here and there just avoiding too much fast fat accumulation.

    So doesn't GVS bulk and cut pretty hard right? It seems to work well for him. When I started I was kind of skinny fat so I feel like if I cut hard while lean it's a disaster, I have to lean bulk and maybe only do 10% deficit when cutting.

    • @Madchris8828
      @Madchris8828 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah he has mentioned that before. I think how much you can cut depends on a lot of factors, how big you've been in the past, what your neat is, and how much you do steps in a day. That with good protein consumption and I can see how it could be possible for sure.

    • @jeffbunnell9961
      @jeffbunnell9961 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Madchris8828 Yes, and the more fat/ obese you are the more extreme you be with the deficit early on. I think GVS said he was around ~20% so I would assume nothing too crazy starting out maybe a 20-25% deficit. Whereas a morbidly obese person can do 50% if they wanted to, they have lots of fat to lose.

    The thing is though, you can ditch a movment you were good at gaining strength in, come back to it later and be awful at it. Your body doesn't care you can still gain muscle with it. Increases in reps and sets also can be a good indicator in my opinion of growth too. But knowing how many sets you need is tough from my experience. I usually go by feel more than anything else
