Love the mix of fast talk, showing cards for a good amount of time, keeping us informed of your thoughts and strategy. Haven’t branched out to Paul Cheon before, definitely got a new subscriber
This is my favorite draft so far since it’s not Eldrazi ramp. Thanks for showing us how Boros Aggro should be drafted and played. Looking for more videos like this. Really appreciated it. Mistakes are welcome as well as it totally relate to us. The mistaken land drop happened to me more than I can remember. Keep ‘em coming!
Paul, I was Jack (the Dimir player) that got hit with your nut draw lol. Maybe if I was on the play I could’ve had a chance but that curve out was absurd either way Ended up 4-3, dimir is funky to draft and play
Drafted a dimir deck with 4 on theme rates, plenty of draw 3 support, and plenty of removal. 4-3 got crushed by the blue and green eldrazi commons, then ran over by an energy aggro deck. This set is so lopsided towards eldrazi
what an amazing content. Literally you are keeping me interested in this game right now. The Frog store and some decisions wotc takes just make me take a break and now I'm back to play mh3 drafts
37:45 i think i laelia, because every subsequent creature proliferates the counters on it as well. you can always pump with the inventor, but playing an early laelia and getting it out of damage based removal is very nice
i hope i'm not annoying you with the comments, i usually try to comment what i would do differently to try and learn. watching you has made me a better player, for sure!
You’re a drafting machine. Amazing for helping me learn the set. I’m getting back into the game and want to go to the draft at my local shop tomorrow! Your vids have been great!
@@napoleonbonerfarte6739 i ended up drafting simic eldrazi. i lost to dimir first game, beat modify selesnya game 2, then lost a close 3rd match to rakdos energy/artifact aggro. The rakdos player got a turn 5 ulamog out on me via the creation of avacyn saga while i sat there and lost to lack of lands. i was 1 mana (colorless mana specifically) short of destroying the enchantment with Waterscape battlemages green kicker. We only played the 3 matches and that was it for our shop tonight. i still had a lot of fun.
57:10 I've done this more times on Arena than I care to admit 😅 Glad to see even the best sometimes make the same big-brain plays. Jokes aside, thanks for all the great insight/content, Paul!
My ADHD thanks you for picking the nice aggro deck. That last game is kinda the perfect showcase to show how boros is the eldrazi killer even with a couple of key miss plays.
So much restraint. I applaud you. I would have went angels all day. You were already loaded with 3 top end angles to cheat into play as well as a black and white spell land. You got tabled the Mardu commander. A little more emphasis on getting 1-2 fetch lands that can go for black and 1-2 black basics and we’ve got an aggressive midrange deck. No doubt that you made the right call though. I’m sure it would have been less reliable mama-wise.
First, I'd like to say you are a phenomenal MTG player and drafter. Easily among the top 0.1% or whatever. However, as a regular viewer of MTG pro players/streamers I have to say that you are by far, the LUCKIEST streamer out of all of them. Your luck is phenomenal compared to the others such as Nummy, Jim Davis, Sam Black, lola, etc. You really should pursue a World Championship while you still have this otherworldly luck at your disposal. Not an insult either. I'd rather be lucky than good anyday, anytime.
Interesting. I’m writing this at pick 3. Did you forbid yourself to pick up one of those premium Eldrazi commons because you promised to not draft Eldrazi in this video ? Or do you think throwing away your 2 first picks would have been a liability ? Or were those cards not a signal at all ? I’ve been wondering lately if Drafting the Hard way as Ben Stark taught us was now obsolete and you somehow have to marry your first pick to keep equity. I’d love to have your feeling about that. Thanks for your daily videos 😊
I’ve done 5 drafts so far. The first 4 I won one game total… just finished my last draft and went 7-2 with BR artifacts, who woulda thought BR would be a 7 win draft deck 🤷🏻♂️
I drafted an interesting green white agro deck and for some reason I went 3-3 I would love your opinion on it I'll send the decklist it you comment on my comment
I wasn't too happy when I lost to your insane boros deck. But getting featured in your beatdown video certainly makes up for it! Nice!
Sorry about the beats!

Yeah my draws in this draft were pretty unreasonable

not a problem!

Paul would you be able to make a video soon teaching how to draw well? would really appreciate it
No need. Two words, "Get Good".
Great deck. I think your deck was even better than that of your opp when you lost. Maximum bad draw there and still with a chance. Overall cool draft!
Very possible. I thought my deck was great and played out super well!
Congrats and I know you we're intentionally avoiding temur, but man, the GR eldrazi deck that you passed would've been insane.
Yep
Enjoyed this much more than the Eldrazi drafts

Restraint is my middle name
Ral only flips when they cast a spell on their turn, so your sorcery speed removal is safe to kill it.
It’s nice to be able to realize when you’re just getting mega lucky!
Oh yes and we were incredibly lucky
Love boros in this format. One of my opponents killed me on turn 4 with sick curve-out, it can be real nasty.
Nice
Cheon played the best 5 cards in his deck every match, absolute nuts luck there!
You draft the cards to draw and play them. Amirite?!?
Ral can only transform on your own turn, so there's no risk of Flames fizzling.
8 matches played, 0 match wins for Eldrazi, 8 match wins for Boros beats all in under 60 minutes including draft. Thats magic efficiency!
Where do you get those dope magic shirts?
I used to get them while working at Wizards on the coverage team
@@haumph Damn
@@haumph don't you work with them anymore? I may be remembering wrong but I recall watching you at the latest pro tour.

“I apologize.” Hahaha.
Paul's pain at playing the wrong land is all of our pain
I was overwhelmed with sadness not gonna lie

This video was week 1 of the format. Signals don't really exist
I ve got a jeskai energy midrange deck in sealed. 6-0 on over 40 players! Seems like they're the best colors
I’ve done 5 drafts so far. The first 4 I won one game total… just finished my last draft and went 7-2 with BR artifacts, who woulda thought BR would be a 7 win draft deck 🤷🏻♂️
Br is very solid cranial ram and refurbished familiar are very good commons
The beautiful fun of Arena play/draw lottery. Either aggro gets a free win or a super unfavorable uphill battle
16:26 i think pyrosurfer > evangel, it's simply broken with the fetchlands. very close pick tho
Was "no shot" a family-friendly overdub? 😂
im coping for an eventual monored mogg mob skoa deck
That would be sweet haha
*me having not watched the draft yet*
Looking forward to season 3 of "Paul tries to not draft Eldrazi"
Great deck except for that 7 drop in an aggro deck :) Even the game that it "won", a bear on turn 2 would've been better
I drafted an interesting green white agro deck and for some reason I went 3-3 I would love your opinion on it I'll send the decklist it you comment on my comment
I'm sorry, what? A low-curve aggro deck with *five* tapped lands? That's absolutely unreasonable.
And you got away with it too! It might genuinely be some sort of Bo1 algorithm magic.
