She had you up in the cut. Loved it. Crazy how many of those alleys I probably walked by and never even knew. I learned a lot in this video about the culture. Super cool and that is why I love your videos. Looking good Sly, looks like you are having the time of your life.
I have lived in VN for 6 years. Currently in Saigon. I recommend trying an Oc (snails, shrimps, etc) place. Also try some Lau (hot pot), VN BBQ. Another one of my favorites is Bo Kho Ban Mi. (beef stew).
Check out Ta Hien. Man... I spent 4 years in the military got out and spent 3.5 months in Nam lol what a life! I'm about to spend 2 more months this Summer.
Sly - given that you have been doing this lifestyle for a while, can you please, please, please do a video on how much the last full year of this lifestyle has cost you. Many of us want to travel like you do for a year but have no idea how much the total cost is when you include flights, housing, food, entertainment, transportation, etc.
Been watching your channel for about 6 months I think. I appreciate that you show us places that are different than the other popular travel TH-camrs. I’ve been curious about Vietnam for a minute and it looks cool. Thank you for sharing!
Yum! Vietnamese food is so tasty 😋 I didn't realize that Vietnam had its own version of youtiao (Chinese deep fried bread), which I've eaten with congee. I'd love to try that with pho someday. I also want to thank you for visiting the Philippines in your past videos, and bringing much needed attention to the state of the rice terraces and our native tribes through the guided tours. It was definitely an eye opener for me!
món đó tên là " giò cháo quẩy", chỉ phù hợp món cháo, không phù hợp muốn phở, bởi vì "giò cháo quẩy" có vị mặn, ăn với cháo sẽ tăng thêm vị. còn phở đã mặn rồi. bạn có thể bỏ "bánh mì: vào phở, vào cháo, vào bún bò, bánh mì sẽ phù hợp hơn.

But just to let you know London Is not the highest crime rated city in England, it's not even top 10 as of last year what you have been hearing about London Is bull crap and the reason why British media will mention London for crime because it's the most populated city with blks in it that's the reason why but things nowadays are calm and ain't no stabbing going on, I went to school in the UK I ain't seen 1 stabbing sure you had kids in involved in certain gangs but other than that It's something you will not see, it's all a hoax.
Also, Americans in general should try travelling to less "popular" places like Vietnam, etc. We tend to mostly go to places such as Western Europe and beach resorts, when there is a world of other destinations that are more exotic and rewarding and cost far less to visit.
Hey, Sly! Looks like you're going to follow my path. I started my southeast Asia journey in Hanoi last month. Currently in Cambodia, which I would definitely recommend if you aren't already planning to come here. You'll have a great time in Vietnam. Lots to see in the cities and outside the cities. And of course, the food! Enjoy!
Dunno how you stumbled onto using a guide in Hanoi but even my Vietnamese friends tell me that is the way to go otherwise you waste too much time and money going in circles
I'm Vietnamese and I think having a guide when you come to a new strange city is a must! When you wanna explore the city by yourself who will ensure the food safety for you, who will show you how to avoid price scamming?
You're missing out on the most amazing dishes if you're excluding pork ...like bun cha, which is what Hanoi is known for and banh cuon, etc. Even the banh mi with grilled pork and such is more delicious than the chicken one. :) Your guide was very pretty!

Sly My Brotha, when your guide told you that Spring Roll had Pork in it I hope you didn't eat the rest of it (should have been placed in the garbage). We're a people who don't partake in eating the pig/pork. Eating pork by mistake is forgive able, but eating it with knowledge we know better....
@@ric44n Beef or chicken pho is popular, but I heard there's also a pork pho somewhere in Vietnam. But the beef broth is typically beef unless they add chicken (which is probably something people at home do like my dad as it rounds the depth of the broth).
