They are my favoriteThai dishes and also the most favorite dishes for most Thais. Btw, I am Thai, and Thais don't measure the ingredients when cooking, and it always turn out just right. Whenever I measure ingredients which means I don't know how to cook that dish, it always turns out bad 😂

Mango w/Sticky Rice - Another dessert favorite! But note that the sticky rice is prepared as a sweet and not savory style that's eaten with chicken/minced pork/minced beef etc. Dessert sticky rice is infused with slightly sweetened coconut milk so it should be refrigerated if you're saving it for later. Also the packet of yellow granules are split mung beans. As you surmised, they provide a contrast.

Tao Bin was introduced into Thailand a few years ago as a local Thai product which is well received by Thais and foreigners alike. There are at least 60 drinks you can order either hot and cold with ice. It tastes good too. When I underwent prostrate gland reduction operation and stayed in hospital for 4 days last year, my wife bought hot coffee for me every morning at the cost of 40 baht for a large cup. It tastes as good as Starbuck costing 90 baht, at least according to my taste bud. Highly recommended.

Try "khao men gai" steamed chicken and rice with a dipping sauce, usually around 50 baht. Curries, penang, massaman, yellow and tom kha gai.
You know well about Thai food
Squeeze lime into Pad Thai, put bean sprout in, and sprinkle dried red chilli a little bit or more to enhance spiciness favor. Eat Pad Thai with fork and spoon and occasionally pick green veggie and chew it. When Pad Thai was promoted by Prime Minister Field Marshall Pibulsongkram during WWII as a national dish, it was supposed to be cheap but delicious. Nowadays the price range can be dirt cheap about US$1 on the street to $10 in 5-star hotel. You can buy one at the price of $1 (35 baht) freshly cooked on local market but with no prawn as prawn is expensive. Pad Thai with prawns can be had on the street at the price around 60-80 baht ($1.5-2.2).

There are many type of Somtum.The one you got is somtum with fermened fish, it's test salty and always come with unique smell. I suggest you next time try to order Somtum Thai which is more sweet and less spicy.

Hi sly, I know you're in Malaysia now. After trying somtom and kimchi, you can try these different types salads in Malaysia. Rojak and pasembur. Ask locals or Google it beforehand.
