This is my #1 favorite Death Battle and has been for Years. There have been Death Battles that have come close to it, maybe even match it, but to me, no other Death Battles has surpassed it.
There's a lot of older deathbattles that are much shorter back when they first started. you could probably do like a 2 or 3 in one video. Starfox and bucky o'hare was great.
17:30 I remember seeing a lot of comments on how Gamera won by taking Godzilla to space, and only lost because he brought him back. They're forgetting Godzilla's atomic breath, which could have easily pushed him back towards earth*. Throwing him into the sun would have been a win, sure, but not leaving him in orbit. *"But he can't breath in space' kind of goes out the window, as he doesn't need to and the radiation breath is... well, radiation breath. It doesn't require any kind of combustion like a fire breath. It's just energy channelled from deep within himself, I guess.
Yeah, but Death Battle has always said that the animation is for entertainment. It doesn't determine the winner. It's just how it could go. And they always want to get all the main things from both fighters in the video. It was the stats and abilities that determined the winner.
One of the first death battle videos I watched and still one of my favorites 🙂. Bit of shame the animation hasn’t aged that well, but still a good watch. Now here’s a movie series you could potentially react to.

Fans then enjoy malding at some parts of the gamera section like the sendai explosion being his only durability feat when he tanked a meteor relative to his size in the showa Era and the sendai explosion being gamera at deaths door since he was recently got destroyed by the mother legion, not saying gamera won just saying he was severely downplayed especially with his regeneration and how he can consume nuclear radiation.
@@ianfranklin294 both we're,the godzilla's they specifically focused on being hesei, final wars and monsterverse were all more than capable of destroying planets with the first 2 being able to destroy multiple, while Gamera themself scaled similarly being able to tank a meteor roughly his size as the showa gamera and the hesei gamera scaling above that being able to manipulate mana on a planetary scale and basically being imune or resistant to most of godzilla's attacks barring physical combat. Edit: ofc the marvel godzilla would've easily tipped it on the scales of godzilla they never focused on comics prior to the conclusion so just using movie versions gamera would've held his own using death battles own method of scaling.
Since they did an amalgam version of these monsters, it is always worth noting that characters with longer histories and more apperances due tend to accumulate more and more insane powers. @@asteranightshade2981 no. They don't. There's a little thing called feats. Marvel Comics Godzilla is the only one that doesn't get godstomped by Heisei Godzilla. The author of Godzilla in Hell said that the final foe of the comic was just a demon rando, and Godzilla in Hell isn't godlike. Godzilla ultima is featless. Shin Godzilla burned a city to the ground and got left completely useless for over a week afterwards. Godzilla Earth destroyed some tiny black holes. Now, let's look at what Heisei Godzilla did. Heisei Godzilla dodged crystals from SpaceGodzilla that had to be travelling upwards of a thousand times faster than light to reach Earth as quickly as they did. Heisei Godzilla overloaded SpaceGodzilla, who ate stars like they were tic tacs. Heisei Godzilla tanked massive hits from Destoroyah, who used Godzilla's greatest weakness as a weapon.
Honestly Godzilla being kind of a douche is one of the best things about him in my opinion! Even when he's at his most "heroic" and goody-two-shoes phase he's still got this bully attitude. It's funny to think about and very entertaining for me personally. He's like a really grumpy superhero when he's fighting other monsters but also a strict father with his son. But i DEFINITELY like it best when he's portrayed as neutral or a straight up villain. I don't know what it is but at some point i just love having to root for a monster that fights worse monsters in order to go back to being an unstoppable angry force of nature and kill all of humanity cause of his own personal but also very symbolic vendetta. I should've figured that Bethany wouldn't like Goji since I love that he's still got this fearless warrior personality and emotions but is still the opposite of the cute heartwarming and sympathic monsters we always get 😅
This is why I love people watching don’t actually know the Lore or seen the films for themselves. They don’t know how powerful big G really is. He has toasted enemies faster and more powerful than Gamera.
I've seen Godzilla VS Megalon.... Bat flying drop-kick is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen Godzilla do. It barely beats out using his atomic breath to fly.
Gamera has always been in Godzilla's shadow since the first Gamera movie (even though one Gamera movie came out BEFORE a Godzilla movie). Hell, there haven't been any new Gamera movies for years. Godzilla is the true King of the Monsters.
I remember this was the first ever death battle I watched and it blew me away. Next suggestion for death battle to watch, Danny Phantom vs American Dragon Jake Long
I actually saw the first Godzilla movie...my dad showed it to me as a child, thus started a love of Kaiju that I have to this day...I actually have seen a Gamera movie once too when I rented a VHS from the video store back in the 90's Godzilla, or as he's known as in his native land of Japan "Gojira" was made by the Japanese as a representation of the horrors of Nuclear weapons....they were literally ground zero for what they could do to people when used and they never want to see that happen to people ANYWHERE in the world. That's why the very first Godzilla film had him as a rampaging FORCE OF NATURE, to show just how dangerous nuclear power could be if used as a weapon or unwisely. Sure he mellowed over the years and became a hero character for a very long time...but his first movie was ALL about how dangerous nuclear power could be. Also the reason he knows judo? The guy they got to play him in the suit when he started to be a hero character more, was a Judoka (person who practices judo) and he brought that to his performance. It's because of his nature as being...a well...force of nature...that the 1998 Godzilla movie with the more iguana looking Godzilla that was made by Tri-Star pictures was so disliked by the Japanese...that's why it left on a clifhanger ending hinting for a sequel that would never be. Toho never greenlit another movie and then when the license for them to make movies ran out Toho bought the rights to that version of Godzilla and removed the "God" from the name...leaving simply "Zilla". The actor who played Godzilla so many times was at the first showing of that movie and said "He doesn't have the soul of Godzilla", and the Japanese have remarked that the version of Godzilla made by Tri-Star and thus, America at the time was very American in that "They couldn't conceive of something their weapons couldn't destroy" since Zilla was killed by a common missile...something that classic Godzilla has never even flinched at. In fact it wasn't long after Toho bought the rights to Zilla that they had him fight Godzilla in one of their movies...he died in two hits...a tail smack into a building and then atomic fire breath to blow it up. Over the years they have mellowed a bit on Zilla and use it to poke fun at the US by saying that "They thought it was Godzilla" even though it wasn't.
Godzilla is a beast on his own and has taken on many monsters over the years . Gamera is also cool however his fighting style and strategy is way different than Godzilla so it was something gamera was not ready for while fighting Godzilla as a whole.
Yeaaaa the showa era godzilla movies were the wacky ones. He was a more kid friendly heroic character during that time. Godzilla himself represents the very horrific and sad reality of human cruelty. But damn that drop kick godzilla does always puts a smile on my face. 😂😂
I wanted Gamera to win, because, you know, turtle. However, it is called the Godzilla Threshold for a REASON. To paraphrase from Tvtropes: "When circumstances are so dire as to justify the use of any and every thing that might solve it, When even the summoning of Godzilla, patron saint of collateral damage, could not possibly make the crisis any worse...the situation crosses the Godzilla Threshold." You don't get a major literary concept named after you unless you are THE badass on the block.
Godzilla once fought his way through hell, completely destroyed the greek pantheon, and once made Hero Zero rethink his life choices after one fight with him and Hero Zero was the one who WON . Godzilla is the last person i want to fight

A good place to start the Godzilla movies is the original from 1954. After that, it's best to just watch the Heisei series. The Return of Godzilla (1984) Godzilla vs. Biollante (1989) Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991) Godzilla vs. Mothra (1992) Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II (1993) Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla (1994) Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995) I'm pretty sure they're all available on TH-cam.
Ik im late to this one,but my favorite moment is how they make sure to correct everyone by confirming that Zilla from 1998 is a bastardization of the original character and i couldnt agree more. Its why the Monsterverse movies starting in 2014 have at least been given a chance because they went out of their way to fix the mistakes of that 98 film.
Who doesn’t love a good kaiju fight? 😊 Anyway, if you ever decide to watch the Godzilla series, just be warned that the Showa era, excluding the original, is the weird one. The drop kick and flight are just samples of what I mean. After that, the series gets more serious, and Big G more chaotic neutral (and occasionally pure evil).

But all threw his time fighting other Monsters threw out his films makes a good compact that Godzilla isn't a creature that wants destruction, Godzilla fights other Monsters not only to protect us but manly protect the earth because without the earth Godzilla has no place to call home cause every victory he wins against a Monster he immediately goes back into the ocean waiting for the next Threat, and that's why I respect Godzilla.

Regarding his original fight with Kong, the outcome was debatable. It was never made clear if Kong won or if Godzilla won. For all we know, it could've been a draw. Plus, there's the fact that the double ending rumor is actually FALSE.

Fun Fact: The original Godzilla is a horror movie. There are very disturbing and heartbreaking scenes in it.
They just need to avoid the Netflix Godzilla a trilogy.
@@bthsr7113 Nah those movies a alright. Not the best but they’re a 6/10
@@noahcarver6133 promising us Mechagodzilla and giving us Mechagodzilla city was just wrong
This is my #1 favorite Death Battle and has been for Years. There have been Death Battles that have come close to it, maybe even match it, but to me, no other Death Battles has surpassed it.
😎🤟
21:21 Remember Space Godzilla.
That's what happened when some of Godzilla was in space.
I mean he can breath on space anyway
One of the first death battle videos I watched and still one of my favorites 🙂. Bit of shame the animation hasn’t aged that well, but still a good watch. Now here’s a movie series you could potentially react to.
Could be a fun one to check out. Though tracking the movies down could be tough to do on streaming platforms 🤔
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitive2 Not sure if this helps but I believe Amazon has them for streaming. There is also a box set of the first generation(showa) films on criterion. I think they have a streaming service as well.
Back in school i was called "weird" for likeing Godzilla and Kaijus as a girl, in genaral specially from other girls. But I don't care. I love them anyway
Honestly I'd call them weird for applying artificial gender standards
@@BJGvideos We were all "insecure" as kids, i don't blame them, it's their loss not mine
What's a nice thing for Gamera is that this DB tends to get him more fans.
Nice 😎🤟
@@reginaldb.pensworth2545do you mean Godzilla was downplayed or Gamera was downplayed?
Heck there have been four *counting the upgraded version of Legendary's Godzilla from the 2014 to the King of Monsters version which is a little bigger, and displays greater strength*, we also had Shin Godzilla, Godzilla Earth, and...Quantum Godzilla (also technically there is a Snow Godzilla but that's this whole other multiverse anime cross-over thing).
No. Heisei Godzilla is still the strongest by a cataclysmic margin. No other Godzilla holds the meakest candle to him. He has ×1000 FTL reaction times and multi-solar system attack potency.
@@JustSomeGuywithEpicGrassesUltima, Shin, Godzilla in Hell, and possibly earth stand a good chance against Heisei, not to mention Composite Godzilla if you count that
@@asteranightshade2981 no.
Taking a quote from Godzilla the series
"NEVER BET AGAINST THE G MAN!"
Rule #1: never bet against Godzilla.
Gamera has always been in Godzilla's shadow since the first Gamera movie (even though one Gamera movie came out BEFORE a Godzilla movie). Hell, there haven't been any new Gamera movies for years. Godzilla is the true King of the Monsters.
@@TeamTowers1in your dreams, maybe.
@@TeamTowers1 in your dreams, maybe.
he hasnt tho, the heisie gamera trilogy is widley acceppted to be one of the best kaiju movies of all time, better than most godzilla movies
He's called "The King of Monsters" *for a reason*
The first Godzilla movie was a much darker film than what he became, if you watch it look for the original Japanese version- not the English release
godzilla is my hands down my favorite monster so i’m going with ken
To paraphrase from Tvtropes: "When circumstances are so dire as to justify the use of any and every thing that might solve it, When even the summoning of Godzilla, patron saint of collateral damage, could not possibly make the crisis any worse...the situation crosses the Godzilla Threshold."
You don't get a major literary concept named after you unless you are THE badass on the block.
Now you guys gotta do MechaGodzilla vs Dragonzord! One of the best death battles!!
Godzilla once fought his way through hell, completely destroyed the greek pantheon, and once made Hero Zero rethink his life choices after one fight with him and Hero Zero was the one who WON . Godzilla is the last person i want to fight
godzilla as a series so far has only 2 episodes, and both of them are in my favorites list for this series
I would love to see a collaboration of Godzilla, Kong and Pacific Rim.
I am a long time godzilla and gamera fan, I grew up watching these movies. If you would like a list I would be more than happy to compose one for you. I enjoy all your reactions and hope to see more 😁
This was a good reaction and do MechaGodzilla vs Dragonzord next.
All Might (MHA) Vs Might Guy (Naruto) is a really cool battle that explains more of the lore in each of the worlds
Never bet against the KING of monsters!
this is an oldie, but a goodie
A good place to start the Godzilla movies is the original from 1954.
After that, it's best to just watch the Heisei series.
The Return of Godzilla (1984)
Godzilla vs. Biollante (1989)
Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991)
Godzilla vs. Mothra (1992)
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II (1993)
Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla (1994)
Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995)
I'm pretty sure they're all available on TH-cam.
The original Godzilla from 1954 or Gojira would be an interesting reaction. Just know it's a much more somber and haunting movie than you may expect
Technically if you go by legendary gamera lost to godzilla as his skeleton is seen outside godzillas home in king of monsters
that was anguirus
How about smokey bear vs mcgruff the crime dog?
This is a classic.
ITS KAIJU DEATH BATTLE TIME!
Who doesn’t love a good kaiju fight? 😊
Anyway, if you ever decide to watch the Godzilla series, just be warned that the Showa era, excluding the original, is the weird one. The drop kick and flight are just samples of what I mean. After that, the series gets more serious, and Big G more chaotic neutral (and occasionally pure evil).
Good to know, thanks for the info on the movies 🙂
Always bet on Big G, he deserves the title ; King of the Monsters.
Godzilla IS the embodiment of Nuclear destruction and suffering, so of course he's not gonna be very nice.
You do suit really watch Sauron versus the Lich King! Now that was a fight!
Yall really need to do Beerus vs. Sailor galaxia it’s so good
Yessssss Godzilla rules, great death match video. And you two are phenomenal as always
Well, this one was Gamera's to lose. Should've just left Godzilla in space after one last good push.
I've always figured these "death battles" were mostly pointless but hey, whatever floats yer boat.
Only movie where Godzilla loses a fight is against destoryah but Godzilla is the only person to protect humanity against other monsters because without him we would die
To be fair he didn't even lose that fight. It took the combined might of him and the army to take out destroyah
@@chrismanning2888 Godzilla does fight him, sure, but the army ultimately defeated Destoroyah. Let's remember, Godzilla was on the verge of blowing the hell up due to his heart being a nuclear reactor.
Nah, he has lost several others, most being non death defeats though.
@@chrismanning2888 he got his ass beat most of the destroyah fight tho? he just couldnt die cuz of his ungodly regen

Look on the bright side Gamera gave Godzilla a hell of a fight. And Gamera has an awesome trilogy of movies and an anime coming out this year
Side note , GOdzilla can survive in space , and the last time any part of him was in space it came back even stronger , they didnt even touch burning Godzilla , which was admittedly before this fight was released and then there is Super Godzilla ,Sadly Gamera never stood a chance
Burning Godzilla appeared in Godzilla Vs Destoroyah on 1995.
@adry3211 This is true? But that version ending with a bang, The burning state he survived came out much later
Godzilla vs Molthera, I think that is the movie where two caterpillars beat Godzilla

Also now looking back on it, I am annoyed some of Godzilla's enemies get named verbally but Gamera's enemies like the Gyaos (the giant laser shooting murder "birds") don't.
Probably couldn't figure the pronunciation...

They must've been under the assumption that the double ending rumor was true, because they said that Godzilla officially lost to King Kong. Sorry, but that rumor is false. Though that movie was re-edited in the US, the ending didn't change. The outcome is left for the viewers to decide. That or maybe they saw the movie and decided that Kong won.

Godzilla has a ton of movies than Gamera and Kong, I mainly grew up watching Godzilla movies. There were some movie where he played as the evil monster aka Kaiju.

Now on to Mechagodzilla vs DragonZord
Wait which movies has the couple has watched at this point other than Godzilla vs Kong?
Next should be Reverse Flash vs Goku Black
While it was good to notice that Godzilla has lost more fights that's largely because Godzilla has a lot more movies than Gamera does so most of those losses are to the same monsters: Mothra (one of the few benevolent monsters and also one of the few female ones), King Kong (the first time only), Destroya, and a couple others.
Regarding his original fight with Kong, the outcome was debatable. It was never made clear if Kong won or if Godzilla won. For all we know, it could've been a draw. Plus, there's the fact that the double ending rumor is actually FALSE.
