supprised to not see any voice of the blessed, which is almost a strictly better pridemate. and with one mountain i cant imagine its that much harder for the deck to cast on 2, and the upside is real.
I'm pretty sure the puresteel paladin vs suppresion field was incorrectly implemented as well. 601.2f describes how to find the total cost, which has you take whatever the cost is, or an alternative cost (which is probably how puresteel would apply). Then you apply cost increases (where suppresion field applies), then cost decreases (which is not where paladin should apply, but seeing how mtgo handled it, I think they implemented it as a reduction to {0})
I think the Hammer got equipped with the Sigarda's Aid trigger in that instance where it was being questioned. In normal circumstances the ability would have still cost 2 mana, but because it was an ETB trigger, there was nothing to increase.
Fable of the mirror breaker should help as well, doesn't it? Treasures help ramping into confusion, multiple bodies for your sisters, card selection to get faster to the juicy cards and once flipped it can make tokens for sisters and again confusion(and they vanish in the endstep). Maybe instead of that unearth thingie. Crazy deck anyhow :3
Yeah I've been reworking it with the donor on discord the last few days. The fatal flaw was trying to make Norin work. If we lose him and the whole Soul Sisters angle, a potentially sweet boros midrange/prison deck is possible and Fable would be central to it.
21:13 I know it's weird but thus far you have been wanting fro Confusion a lot. Maybe running 4 would make having it more reasonable. Or mulliganning maybe 32:10 Good point. 1:04:28 Too bad stuff like Firery Islet is not legal, would help with the floods
1:00:05 we see one of the funniest consequences of the companion errata. Drannith magistrate, which was specially designed to be a hate piece for companions, doesn't interact with them at all anymore. Flavor fail
I'm half a year late, but this has been one of my favorite meme decks I've made for 7-8 years. Not the exact same but almost. I used panharnonicon & genesis chamber & Elesh Norn Mom.
I wonder if Heliod could be good here. It'd be another lifegain payoff beyond Ajani Pridemate. It could also be okay to give to your opponent, since they likely don't run lifegain and, outside of Hammertime, won't have white devotion to turn it on
I wonder if confusion in the ranks would work better in a Jeskai control deck, which can slow down the game to the point that it's castable and then exploit it with evoke elementals and some symmetrical artifact/enchantment control pieces. With this deck, you're generally playing so aggressively that even if you do finally resolve the confusion, your hand is about empty by then anyway and you don't have any way to protect it from enchantment removal
I’m watching the deck tech and Brian mentioned an interaction that I didn’t think worked. I was under the impression if you give your opponent a solitude with the evoke trigger on the stack, the solitude will not be sacrificed since you can only sacrifice permanents you control (and Brian would have the trigger while the opponent controls the solitude)
Evoke technically reads (in part) "When this permanent enters the battlefield, if its evoke cost was paid, *its controller* sacrifices it" and not simply "sacrifice it". Hence, this ruling mentioned on the Morningtide leave-the-battlefield evoke cards, which happens to be relevant to this situation: "If a creature spell cast with evoke changes controllers before it enters the battlefield, it will still be sacrificed when it enters the battlefield. Similarly, if a creature cast with evoke changes controllers after it enters the battlefield but before its sacrifice ability resolves, it will still be sacrificed. In both cases, the controller of the creature at the time it left the battlefield will control its leaves-the-battlefield ability." (However, one does still need to stack the triggers properly as Bosh mentions, because the exchange won't happen unless it's on the battlefield.)
Confusion in the Ranks was one of the earlier rares I opened. It ended up in my extremely bad Red Chaos deck, along with all those other lolrandom red rares they don't print these days (yes, including Norin!). I don't think it ever won a game legitimately, but did once get a table to collectively concede after a couple of turns of Confusion + Grip of Chaos. This one was silly but fun. Except Counterbalance. Counterbalance is a cop.
I feel like Sunbaked Canyon might be decent here given the amount of lifegain available and flooding out you ended up being hit by; even assuming most of that was variance, the combination of building to a confusion that might not show up and most of the rest of the deck being castable at little to no mana makes me think it's likely to turn into an actual card with some frequency. Possibly instead of the forges? (Though I do note the other comment mentioning the entire norin/sisters angle being removed, which makes this more or less irrelevant)
15:41 for a second here I thought this tidebinder might be going after Norin and almost lost my mind, but Norin is too clever to get got that way Edit: oh, you can catch him on the way back in? Fascinating
Do you think an Escape creature would be a better idea than the scrapwork mutt due to the unearth/suppression field nonbo? The only relevant one I can think of would be Ox of Agonas, but that's pretty expensive on the front side for a deck that isn't dredging/discarding it straight to the yard
Bosh, I really appreciate how you try to make the jank work, even would it would obviously be more powerful to cut it. Even as an 0-5, this video was very entertaining! My favorite MtG content used to be SaffronOlive's Against the Odds series (unfortunately, I find Arena completely unwatchable, and the series has mostly moved to Arena), and I find you take a similar attitude when donors give you weird stuff. The point is not being hobbled by an underpowered deck, but rather Trying to Pull Off the Weird Thing. (For what it's worth, this was one reason I stopped watching Phil's content, as he always seemed like he just couldn't wait to sideboard out the jank :/.)
"Basic Plains... It's the mirror match"
Gonna press X to doubt on that one Bosh
Is this ... *gasps* ... the mirror?
Norin getting sideboarded out every time is in flavor. He realized there was a fight going on and peaced😂😂
Ive been waiting all week to watch R1G2 from your perspective. This is amazing.
Norin the Wary vs Counterbalance? Modern is crazy
After seeing the spike clip, I was anticipating this
supprised to not see any voice of the blessed, which is almost a strictly better pridemate. and with one mountain i cant imagine its that much harder for the deck to cast on 2, and the upside is real.
23:59 and here we see Bosh enter sicko mode, the natural state of all Soul Sisters players
Amen.
23:39 - 23:58 might be the funniest modern moment I've seen in a long time
Sunbaked Canyon is a card, which helps Boros burn, it would help here as well.
I was wondering if there's a good reason for Battlefield Forge over it, Sunbaked just seems strickly better
35:58 You are right about the pure steel interaction, but they also have a sigardas aid in play that attached the hammer
Good catch!

I have been manifesting a Norin the wary deck into my favorite mtg youtuber’s feed and today I was rewarded. ❤
Bosh ready to see violent outburst hit the bricks. Yeah me too its the reason most of my friends stopped playing modern due to the play pattern
R1G3 blind hit on counterbalance on a high cmc card is one of the most tilting things
Fable of the mirror breaker should help as well, doesn't it? 35:38 it has equip cost 2, but it was attached with sigarda's aid instead
is the manabase not consistent enough to run Voice of the Blessed, instead of Pridemate?
This is the modern content that I live for.
Maybe this would be better as a legacy prison deck
1:00:05 we see one of the funniest consequences of the companion errata. Drannith magistrate, which was specially designed to be a hate piece for companions, doesn't interact with them at all anymore. Flavor fail
Oh, lol. He mentioned it a minute later. Should have waited to comment I guess
Spikes reaction to round 1 game 2 was iconic
Aspiringspike vs Boshnroll. My two favourite mtg content creators clash!
I'm half a year late, but this has been one of my favorite meme decks I've made for 7-8 years. Not the exact same but almost. I used panharnonicon & genesis chamber & Elesh Norn Mom.
Round 1 game 2, it's like mama always said:
"Many an ailment I wish on my enemies, but on my worst, never bad luck."
Holy shit, I played this boros sisters like a decade ago. Probably more. Excited to see how hard you can carry this.
I'm a simple man. I see norin, I stop everything and support the content anyway possible!
I’ve never felt like I was having a fever dream then in round 1
Why isn't this deck running any Sunbaked Canyons? You seemed to be flooding out a lot and that would help.
The fact that norin is scared of himself attacking is the funniest thing in magic imo
I see your Norrin interaction and I raise you "Legitimate Businessperson"
so many close ones. love the concept
I can't believe I'm watching Boshnroll play Ajani's pridemate. This is got to be the fairest deck I think I've ever seen him play ha ha.
I wonder if Heliod could be good here. It'd be another lifegain payoff beyond Ajani Pridemate. It could also be okay to give to your opponent, since they likely don't run lifegain and, outside of Hammertime, won't have white devotion to turn it on

This is some old-school SPBKaSF energy, I love it

@@anaphysik interesting and weird but makes sense
I've been waiting for this video since the tweets from you and Spike 😂
Bosh tiiiiiime. Best part of the morning!

Confusion Sisters is my new favourite deck name
I feel like Sunbaked Canyon might be decent here given the amount of lifegain available and flooding out you ended up being hit by; even assuming most of that was variance, the combination of building to a confusion that might not show up and most of the rest of the deck being castable at little to no mana makes me think it's likely to turn into an actual card with some frequency. Need to remember that Pick Your Poison is a sorcery!
Can't wait for the big moment in this one 👀
The deck name rolls off the tongue…like sand paper but I’m a sucker for soul sisters
@BoshNRoll I think you messed something up with the recording. the video is not as clear as usual
15:41 for a second here I thought this tidebinder might be going after Norin and almost lost my mind, but Norin is too clever to get got that way
Edit: oh, you can catch him on the way back in? Fascinating
I remember that tweet lmao
I think this deck is way better with Warleader's Call.
It gives more reach payouts for your body and makes your 1/1s more likely to do something
Ahhh now the tweet makes sence!
havent seen norin in a good while
Do you think an Escape creature would be a better idea than the scrapwork mutt due to the unearth/suppression field nonbo? The only relevant one I can think of would be Ox of Agonas, but that's pretty expensive on the front side for a deck that isn't dredging/discarding it straight to the yard
Confusion in the ranks is awesome
Why do you make more going 2-8th in the vintage event
Each person doesn’t get 7 pieces of power. Those 7 cards are given out to 2-8th
I LOVE BREWS
Norin is the best EDH general
Your first oponnent was aspiringspike, cool!
Bosh, I really appreciate how you try to make the jank work, even would it would obviously be more powerful to cut it. Even as an 0-5, this video was very entertaining! Obligatory algorithmic contribution
Norin is always the villain
Bosh n Roll can we please get a run back on Mississippi River. Pleaseeeeee
I play what Patreon subs send me :)
PSA, 40k is coming to modo
never expected the BoshNRoll spike crossover lol
M A S S C O N F U S I O N
Think sunbaked canyon would have been good in this deck. The pings don't matter so much and basically every game entered topdeck mode.
if only confusion was 3 mana
this video autoplayed after i watced spike's video loll
The system works!
good times
the deck seemed fun until the games started
bruh im not paying 5 mana in Modern
Fun deck. Trash format lol
