2008-2013 Cadillac CTS Headlight bulb replacement- EASY and SAVE MONEY!

  • In this video, I replace low beam headlight bulbs on a 2010 Cadillac CTS. The low beam size is H11. A lot of newer cars make changing headlight bulbs much more complicated than needed. By watching this video, I hope it gives you some confidence to do this job (or any newer car) on your own and save the hefty dealership/repair shop cost.

Thanks for the video. Did my CTS. A bit of moisture from rain was leaking into each headlight chamber. Suggest applying a bead of Permatex 81730 flowable silicone around the clear plastic. That solved the problem. Doing bulbs on another CTS now. Same moisture problem. Will use flowable silicone again.

The reason why you don't want to touch the actual bulb is because they are halogen bulbs which get extremely hot. Any residue left on the bulb (including skin oils) will burn over time and cause residue to build up inside the reflective housing. This build-up will absorb more and more of the light as it literally cooks the reflective surface over time. This decreases the brightness of your headlights over time as less and less reflective surface remains.
I know this because it's exactly what happened to my 2010 CTS headlights, which is why I am watching this video, so that I can replace the entire fixtures myself this time instead of taking it to my local shop which must have touched the bulbs when both headlights were replaced a little while ago. My headlights have been getting progressively dimmer since then.

That bumper should not have fallen off. There are a series of bolts and push rivets that hold the bottom in place. Leaving the bumper down makes access to all of the bolts easier. I have a '14 coupe and have changed the bulbs twice. There is another push rivet underneath that you cannot see and it holds the rubber skirt in place. Also, the square holes (~4:34) are indexed into fender above, use a wide trim tool between the bumper and fender to separate 'em.
