Thanks for review video !
Were these power assist wheels covered by medical insurance?
My e-motion m15 power assist wheels were covered, pretty much same design but mine are old, since 2014 ...
Were these covered due to medical necessity (wrist, shoulder pain etc)
...btw, background music kinda loud hard to hear you speak
Thanks for video! :)
Thank you. Sorry about the background music. Still learning. In Ontario Canada, mobility devices are 75% covered pretty much. Wheels like these and other devices where we live are purchased after special seating clinics with physios and OT's. On our blog at www.walkingwayoverrated.blogspot.com has a lot of info about the whys and hows. Hope that helps.
wire spoke wheels need to be built correctly. I can speak from experience having laced hundreds of bicycle and motorcycle wheels, and studied the science behind spoked wheels.
Typically spokes will break at the bend. This is true on cars with wire wheels, motorcycles and bicycles. They broken spokes fail at the bend. The obvious solution is to eliminate the bend altogether and have straight pull spokes. This has been done on some motorcycles (BMW, Moto Guzzi) for decades. The wheels are stronger and the spokes don't fail.
Spokes that cross and touch, or bend as they cross do not matter. The point of failure is always at the bend.
Also: a spoke pattern with "three cross" spokes is always stronger than a "two cross" or "one cross" wheel. Radial spoking (no cross) is the lightest and also is the most frail. This all has to do with the load on the spokes and how many spokes are supporting that load. So if the wheels continue to be based on a hooked spoke, then the next be thing would be to lace them with a "3 cross" pattern, and yes, hooks that fit the hub flange. They can be laced from the inside of the flange or the outside of the flange or a mix. Many motorcycles alternate inside and outside spoking.

Lance C Thank you so much for taking the time to provide expert advice. That all made sense. Hopefully my husband can get the help he needs to change the spoke lacing. If only the manufacturer of these wheels would take this more seriously.
