QUESTION; I an not sure what to check next. My 92 doesn't want to run correctly - the only way to get it started is by choking it with one finger and using the kick starter to turn it over. Once running it does not keep running unless I choke it on-and-off frequently to keep it running. I have replaced the gas, removed the carburetor parts (as shown in your video) checked them out did some lapping as well, replaced the check valve and am getting the same results. Also checked the needle valve and reset to your suggested position for being closed. Still no luck. Can you suggest what to check next? The funny thing was it had been working faithfully just starting it from time to time before, then one day this.
Whats sparkplug gap on the maytag 2 prong ? 2) what color is the spark supposed to be? Mine is weak yellow! 3) my 93 had 2 condensers. Can I use only one? Rebuilt carb too. Not getting even a putt now!
It appears that the air valve (popper/flapper/?) valve's shaft is around 0.250" the face varies due to wear. Except for the very apparent do have an approximate thickness range before the air valve popper becomes useless? I have two 92's one measured 0.064" and the other 0.073". I was thinking the factory may be around 0.080~0.100 brand new? I did make a brass nut, now working in engine, but I would like to clean up the air popper valve if needed. Next project will be to replace the coil in my 72 as cheap as possible! I tested it like you showed and it is bad.
Thank you so much i just got into the hobby and have a maytag i bought locked up. Got it running thanks to ure videos. Carb was a nightmare to figure out before your videos. Now starts one or two kicks every time. Now its time to finish my ih 3 to 5 and my Hercules
My Maytag motor only runs when I start it on starter fluid and then dies, do you sell a rebuilt mixer it how do I get the pick up tube out. Thanks James in East Tn
I don't know how else to contact you so I hope this works. Thanks for all your fine videos particularly the Maytag 92 of which I'm a new owner. I'm trying to find information about the Carb pickup tube. Mine had the bottom where the screen wrapped around the screw on portion (the screen was badly torn) and the tube itself has a slot in the bottom. If there is a type of check valve I don't have it nor do I understand how it worked. Any help you may offer will be greatly appreciated.
Sam, I created an account just to ask this question. What is the tolerance between the holder and valve do you like to have? You didn’t show one that you had fitted together. I have rebuilt my Maytag 92 and now working on putting together a good mixer.

Sam you are making some nice Maytag engine repair & replacement parts, that's a dyeing art !!
I need to make a new poppet, no big deal. However, my locking ring is almost un-useable. Any suggestions?
