  • After I remove the engine there is some footage of me replacing what I do on every engine installed, water pump, thermostat and spark plugs. At the very end is just me mating them back together as well. Enjoy! More to come as always.

    This video is pure gold.
    I was thinking of doing a bottom rebuild(Main Bearings/ Crankshaft ect) on my 2.0 on my 07 caliber because my camshaft is knocking (I think it’s the barrings ) and now I’m thinking a swap may end up being a better option since it’s a very similar engine style and seems pretty straightforward .
    These videos are not only well presented but also informative in a way words cannot explain big thanks man. 🤟🏽

      With most of the chrysler engines wr run into the rockers wearing into the cam. You can just swap rollers if you can press the valve spring down. Make sure the keepers and valve go down or you could be in deep water. But if you were going to remove the head anyways ignore me lol.
      Happy my videos can help.

    How did you remove the transmission from the engine

  • @scientist100

    Do you recommend a timing chain at this point or what are your thoughts on that in regards to labor? Should be fairly cheap labor since the engine is out but I see a lot of recommendations from the parts store that seems like a lot of money at the end for the customer. I usually do the water pump and belt if applicable but I would not do the chain. Thanks!

    • @CarMechaNick
      @CarMechaNick  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      With these motors specifically we don't have many timing issues. If it were the Chevrolet 2.4L I would highly recommend it lol. Always a good idea to replace those other wear items like you said though. Water pump, thermostat, spark plugs, and if any leaks I'll reseal as well.
      I would definitely give a discount on the labor for doing these timing jobs outside of the car. It is way easier and a prevention not necessity.

      Just bring a whole rack. Same with wrenches. I honestly can't remember if the crank bolt was extra large, like a 22 or something maybe. Bring a few big boys too. Just incase. Good luck man take plenty of water if you're in a hot area.

    Which vehicle is this specifically? Are most if not all dodge/Chrysler fwd vehicles like this? I'm on the fence of getting a remanufactured engine put into my 2005 Sebring.

    Awesome video man! I have a question, I drive a 2012 dodge journey (base trim model) with the 2.4L 4-cylinder Dual VVT engine. And I have run in a few problems this past year, first with all the coolant hoses braking, the water pump had to be changed too, also the idler and tensioner pulleys had to be changed since they were squeaking and smelt like burnt. And now my question is: why does my car gives a gas odor when it reaches the speeds of 70 mph and up?

      You should have someone check it out. May be able to remove valve covers to find the issue, but would need someone experienced in the issue.

      It's probably more putting in, just because you have to line them up right before you assemble.

    • @CarMechaNick
      @CarMechaNick  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your best bet is to remove the pan, then start by just loosening rod and crank caps. You may be able to spin after releasing pressure. May have to hit spots with a hammer and such.

      If you supply the engine it's 80 an hour for labor. Parts prices also vary so its best to call and get a quote at some local shops. Where are you located?
