If you guys are having a service airbag light .. look under front and back seat you'll see a yellow plug on both driver & passenger side.. squeeze them a lil to make sure plug is all the way in , a total of 4 yellow plugs.. the connectors gets loose over time .. thank me later 😊
I have a 200 Limited and I love it. Just had a wheel barring go bad and the previous owner had used JB weld to put the cover back on it. What a freaking mess
I had passenger side airbag light come on about 4 years ago, went Chrysler dealership check it out and said was wiring harness under passenger seat so dealer technician made light go out fine for few months came back on, so over 4 years I keep fixing wiring harness well just last week I could not fix it light kept coming on and stayed on. Took my 2016 Chrysler 200C AWD to dealership and I renewed my extended Mopar warranty to be cheaper pick $500 deductible but service desk got me down $380. But took 4 days get wiring harness in and got fixed, tech went to put bottom leather on seat zipper got torn, they are looking for new leather seat cannot find one anywhere using personal phones to find seat because of dealers being hacked. Well found entire assembly of seat (I did not get charged for seat replacement). Whole deal was my interior color is "Linen/Black" If leather was black or gray no problem. Linen
I own a 2015 200s, bought used. I've owned it for almost 4 years. 6 cylinder, 130,000 miles. No problems! I take good care of it and only use full synthetic.
I have a 2015 Chrysler 200 and it has 335,000 miles with the original engine and original transmission. I do Uber and Lyft and this car is great for that. I absolutely love my Burgundy Beast. I haven't had any issues that your talking about. I've had mine for almost 5 years. This is a great vehicle but just like any vehicle you have to take care of it or you will be replacing the engine at 96,000 miles.....LOL
I currently have a 2016 Chrysler 200 and everything you said in this video is very much true. I have been going through hell with this car. First, it was the ticking and burning smell. Then it was the jerking and stuttering. Oh and don’t let me forget the oil gasket leak and replacing the house it sit in. Now it’s replacing the motor. But that’s not even the sad in frustrating part. The sad and frustrating part is knowing something is wrong and the dealership keeps sending you away telling you everything is ok, when it’s obviously not. ( all because your still under warranty) Soooooooooo with all that being said THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU … for getting on here and being honest about what’s happening and what to expect. Much appreciated.❤
omg I got a 15 200 and ive recently had the burning smell too, mechanic said its the head gasket seal or sumthn like that, getting it fixed next week, hopefully that'll fix it and it won't be the oil cooler. but ive also had that trans problem the guy was talking about where it well randomly not let me shift out of park, tried to take it to mechanic but the two times ive tried the check engine light goes off. he also said to change the trans oil but I thought these trans were sealed where you couldn't
Oh and also when this man says avoid quick lube places, take that to heart. A couple months ago I had a Journey under my wrench that had cheap conventional oil in it. All of the oil pathways were plugged and one of the lifters seized which wrecked the rocker. The bearing on the lifter was half gone and took most of the cam lobe with it. It was a great day for me, not so much for the customer. Cleaning metal shavings out of an engine, and changing a camshaft isn’t cheap. Don’t cheap out on oil. It’s going to cost you a couple months of rent payments in the future.
Years ago I used to change oil at a Toyota dealership. The oil drain plug on one vehicle was a female Torx drive plug. A buddy of mine was changing the oil and had to fight to get the drain plug out. Some idiot at a quick lube place had used an impact wrench to install the drain plug! It was stripped out, and when it finally came out, the drain plug broke in half. Those places will hire any idiot off the street, give them almost no training, and just throw them at your car.
Thanks for the knowledge, Alex! I have a 2015 200s with the 2.4 L multiair. I bought it with 40,000 miles on it. It's now at 90,000 miles. I'm careful about doing oil changes, and it hasn't had any problems. I'm planning on my next maintenance right now and appreciate this video a lot!
I suggest you all read up on the recent "class action lawsuit" between Chrysler & Tigershark-the manufacturer of the engine installed in various vehicles before assuming things!
@@lisababaian3816 unfortunately to be eligible in this class action lawsuit, you need to have bought the car new, leased the car new, or in any way shape or form have taken ownership of the car off the lot brand new.
What about your transmission when do you change the tranny oil from it? do you do the chemical flush trough a machine or do you drop the tranny pan from it to drain it and change the filter?
I bought the 6 cylindar in 2017. It was a retired rental car. It was kind of a vanity purchase. I didn't really need a 3rd car, but I thought it would be handy. I didn't have a huge budget for this purchase, and I was sick of boring Toyotas. I was excited about how much I was getting for $10,000 and particulary that it was a 6 cylindar. I still love the car, and it's fun to drive. Within a few weeks I started getting a light for the passenger side airbag. I could reach under the seat and play with the wire harness and it would go out briefly. Asked about that and was told it's super expensive to fix. OK. Wouldn't think so, but I just left it as is. Main thing was this past winter I had to replace the intake and exhaust manifold. Car had 150,000 miles on it, very disproportionately highway miles. So that was disappointing. Still love the car though. It's like having a high maintainence girlfriend that brings great joy to your life.
I have a 2015 2.4l 5 years now still drives great only major work done to it was suspension work and ac blower went out. Make sure oil is changed on time, transmission fluids changed at least every 50 thousand miles air filters changed at two oil change intervals. Pvc valve change at 60 thousand miles. I still have the original sprak plugs at 124000 miles currently.
I have a 200 2015. Heard bout the problems & recalls it had. If you keep up with maintenance & check the car every so often it will last. It all comes down to how you take care of it.
This is always what people fail to understand. They bash the 200s 2016 so bad even. Proper maintenance and fluids keeps a car going. If someone is driving the 200 like a moron and forgetting to do fluids or check on fluids then yeah , any car can turn to a lemon at that point
Before I talk about my 200, I just wanted to thank you for posting this video. You are a great teacher, and I love the southern charm of your wife and you. You seem like such a great team. I watched it twice and took notes. I'm totally a layman when it comes to cars, and I learned a lot!
Thanks for watching and thanks for your feedback. It means a lot to us. We are constantly asking how can we make better videos for you guys! I love teaching about cars, especially to the everyday person.
I got my 2015 200c a year and a half with 25k miles on it, I did not know about the oil cooler issue, I knew about the fuel pump, cam rockers, and transmission issues, but I haven't had those problems YET lol. This is new to me thanks for the info man I'll check out that Oil cooler.
I had a 2015 200 for a rental and loved it. I wanted a 200 so bad. I just recently looked into getting one again. Ended up with a Dodge Journey. I'm actually quite happy with my Journey! Got it dirt cheap and it runs great.
I have a 2015 200 S with a little over 100k miles. Just had the spark plugs changed but now after this im thinking about swapping out that oil cooler. Thanks for this video this has been a lot of help!!
Yeah I'm on the good team. I always wanted one. It was hard to get one. I have a 2015 200 limited 2.4. Got it 3/19 with 80,000 now 8/3/23 I have 266,102 and had no issues. Change my oil usually at 6000 too 6500 0,20w. Only thing I have changed is the front brake pads. That's it. She drives like a champ even in the mountains. I do Uber and Lyft and other side gigs and travel. Haven't had any of those problems. They should have fix the bugs and keep selling them. People still buying these cars. They never stay on the lot long. Haven't seen any side the road like I see other cars. Go 200!
I bought my "2015 Chrysler 200 Limited" in 2020 with only 49,000miles. Fortunately I bought it from a certified dealership because 5mo's later at only 52,000miles the "Tigershark" engine BLEW! Thank god the Chrysler Corp. was willing to work with me on an extended warranty & replaced that engine with a new Mopar engine. I have had EVERY problem with my car that it is known for, the latest being the drivers seat heater no longer turns on, & a possible electrical short somewhere has caused the seat module to stop working so I can no longer raise/lower the seat or move the seat closer/farther from the pedals! I was drawn to the looks & comfort when I purchased this car not to mention desperate for some wheels after 13yrs of riding a bus but, HAD I KNOWN THEN WHAT I KNOW NOW, I WOULD NEVER HAV GIVEN THIS CAR A 2nd LOOK!
I have a 2.4 liter Chrysler 200 (2015) and haven't had any of the issues you talked about. But the car is paid for so we know that in itself is open for all kinds of issues. Thanks for the heads up.
I've had my 2016 200 Limited with the 4 cylinder since new and just turned over 150,000 miles last week. I've had no major problems with it and it's been a good car. Lately the transmission will shift harshly maybe once or twice a month but it's not getting any worse so I'm not worried about it yet. I work 35 miles away so I drive 70 plus miles every weekday and get 30 mpg nearly every tank. It has been maintained exactly as shown in the owner's manual from day one and while it's no guarantee against problems it definitely decreases your odds of certain failers.
I am buying used 2016 200 , 170,000 KM driven in good condition How about gas (fuel) consumption And if you can guide me what to focus while checking the car.
@@sirajshahid1491 hey there The fuel consumption on these vehicles are pretty good especially the four-cylinder.what engine is in the vehicle that you are considering?
I work at the plant that makes the oil cooler. There are many problems with the build process. I have seen the aluminum "knock off" versions of these and they seem much better build quality and durability. However I did notice a slightly smaller opening for the water side of the cooler on the aluminum version.
I have a 2015 Chrysler 200s V6, I bought the lifetime Mopar warranty.... I've replaced, a new transmission, lifters, rocker arm's, engine mounts, stabilizer bars, radiator, water pump, thermostat housing, thermostat,.. it's been covered with the warranty, $100 deductible, and rental while the dealership has the cars
I have a 2006 Chrysler van with 247,000 miles. The engine is cast iron 3.3L (Damion) the tranny works fine: I did change the fluid & filter. I do have electrical problems though: the headlights sometimes won't turn off and sometimes turn themselves on when I'm away. I have to constantly jiggle the switch. The instrument cluster blinks when it's the coldest winter; and I think it came from the factory with the engine light on. I also have a little water leaking on the passenger side in the cab (not the heater coil): I think it's from an A\C drain hose that's too short to drain properly. But I drive easy; and it's a very dependable comfortable vehicle. I probably won't buy another one though. Thanks for a great video!
GREAT INFO …thank u! I was about to jump on a crazy deal for this car but now I see why the seller had it priced so low!!!! My favourite new TH-cam channel 👍🏼🙏🏼
Design obsolescence is the term for designing a product with an artificially limited useful life. They figured out how to make people buy more cars. Great video. Thanks for putting this together.
Wish I watched this before I bought it. Lol. Just bought one off the Lot. 🤦🏽♂️. But I definitely appreciate you guys for this video. Will do my best to follow and keep out of the shop.😓. Thank you again for the tip.🙏🏽
I think a take away from this as well Is how the vehicle is driven. Having nearly 300hp and flooring it all the time, over time will cause issues if you use cheaper oil, same thing with the transmission.
I purchased my with 16,000 miles still had factory warranty. Took advantage of that had new leather seat replacement and fixed door panels inside slight discoloration (I worked in automotive supplier side knew how to fix door panels) interior color is white so are leather seats, I have the Panoramic Sunroof and came with technology package. Adaptive cruise control, Lane sense, cool to let car park itself. My wife and I love the car.
I have Chrysler 200 since 2018. It’s 2016 model always.228000 km still going strong 💪 did oil changes when it’s less than 20 percent. Transmission fluid change at every 70000 km. Used original champion spark plugs and Bosch ignition coils and brakes rotor + par one time
I also have the Chrysler 2014 LX 4 cylinder 2.4 liter. I’ve spent about close to $2k-4k in repairs ( new radiator , radiator cap hoses housing , water pump, gasket etc ) and it’s about 245k miles. I keep up with tje maintenance of the car and tend to the little things it needs. As of this moment, the check engine light is on, mechanic says there is a problem with the alternator ( since the battery light has come on a few times ) and it has problems with the cam shaft crank shaft area as well. I don’t drive the car out of town anymore. The car still runs and has great gas mileage.
Thank you for your wealth of knowledge, I have a 2016 200s with 156K. I put 20K plus on it a year it has been a great vehicle so far with minimal issues. It does have that time to time transmission jerk. I took it to a transmission guy and he said since it has the sealed transmission on it, there was no need to change fluid. I have lately been noticing a breaking issue of the ABS system engaging more than I think it needs too. but all in all this 4cyl has been a great work vehicle for me as I'm always on the hwy.
Man am I glad that I subscribed to this channel because I literally just looked at a 2015 Chrysler 200 that is a beautiful car and was seriously considering buying it for my daughter. Thank you Alex for helping me dodge that bullet pun intended.
Hey bro thanks so much for taking the time to share your field knowledge, I want to jump into a 200, do you recommend or not, is there something to do with the computer issues like isolated any way? Do you think transmission issues are always related to computer? Thanks in advance...🎉
I own a 2015 Chrysler 200 Limited with a 4 cylinder. I bought it in 2021 and it had 123,000 miles on it and now has 158,000. I've kept up on the preventive maintenance. I've only had to change 1 engine mount and the LDP. Been an excellent car so far. The only issue I'm having now is the air bag light is on and my U connect radio keeps shutting off and can't connect my phone to it.
I have a 200 /2016 chrysler having a starting problem!! Replaced battery!! When trying to start keeps trying then will finally start after 2 or 3 times trying??? What should I replace!!?? Or what can it be??? PLEASE HELP🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I have one of these cars with a 4 cylinder engine, there are no problems with it, knowing that it has traveled 155,000 km. I bought it and it has traveled 80,000 km ... most of the problems are only in the clutch system .. the beating between the number 4..5 ... only and I prefer this type of engine because the room The engine has a wide range, not like the 6v, it is narrow, adding the temperature of the v6 engine is higher compared to the 4 cylinder... For information, I am in Iraq and the temperature in the Middle East is much higher than the western regions 😊👍
I have the 2015 Chrysler 200 C AWD 3.6 liter V6. I have had to change the radiator, radiator housing, cap and hoses ( about $1500+ due to overheating and the upper hose dislodging off causing it to overheat again ) and now it shows a flashing check engine light ( nervous on what it could be and the cost to fix it ) . Currently waiting for tow as I write this. I have about 152k miles on it. It’s a fast car, great gas mileage and has been reliable.
I was lucky I suppose. I had a 2015 200 S with the V6. I never had any problems other than the dealership destroying, bit by bit, my car. They broke things and didn’t own up to it. They lied to me about work that needed to be done but really didn’t need to be. They lied about work they charged me for but didn’t do. They broke or stripped almost all of the lug bolts according to the Chevy dealer I traded to. Thank you for this information.
Great info. I have 11650 on mine. Going to get Trans maintenance done for the first time. So far no issues. I have had my 2015 S for 7yrs. Garage kept. I recommend a great warranty and keep up with maintenance. Luckily my runs Great. I did change the thermastat and got a tune up.
Had a cam position sensor issue and lifter issue @ 42k on my 3.6 awd 200s. Babied this thing from 11k miles. Royal purple and wix xp filter every 3500 miles, premium fuel. Still failed. Before that there was a severe transmission problem due to Tcm programming errors. Also the infotainment system had an error in this thing and wouldn’t come on for awhile sometimes so Chrysler told me to update it and that resulted in a bricked system, dealer told me 1500$, I sent it for repair for $400 after shipping. I love this car, it drives solid. Great power when you need it, 29mpg average for me. Comfortable, awd has been superb. Just has issues. The mechanic that replaced the engine told me it was a nightmare job, there is hardly any extra space in the engine bay. I love the way it drives though.
Transmission fluid service is unnecessary according to the dealership. My wife’s car is slipping when switching gears. I called the dealership, and they mentioned it’s a sealed transmission that doesn’t need serviced, and has lifetime fluid. Your thoughts
I have a Chrysler 200c. At 29,000 miles I had to have my transmission, computer and module replaced!! Thank god it was still under warranty at the time. 3 months ago I had to replace the engine! Didn’t even have 100,000miles. Thankfully the engine I got only had 32k on it. Fingers crossed it last!!
I have a 2016 Chrysler 200 Limited. Just got an oil change and now it’s shaking in park and has a very rough start. I’ve had nothing but problems with this car.
I've had my 2015 Chrysler 200C with every option available. Here is the list of items I repaired myself. 1. Replaced plastic ass oil cooler for a Dorman Aliminum oil cooler. 2. Replaced all CAM rockers on both banks. 3. Replaced thermonstat housing to Dorman thermostat. 4. Replaced oil/coolant temp sensor. 5. Replaced front wheel hubs. 6. Replaced throttle body. 7. Replaced blend door actuator. Other than that its been great 😂
Hey...I have the same car as you. I've been having constant overheating problems seems like no one can figure out the problem. I can't drive the car for too long because it starts to overheat...any suggestions or ideas. This whole thing is stressing me out.
Can I just say that I am a very comfortable person when it comes to fixing issues with many kinds of cars. I look up and research different DIY Mechanic channels. I have come across channels with techs who have no idea what they’re talking about & or do! They have no screen presence and zero personality! Alex my name is Chris and can I just say that I’m looking for a video for a specific problem with my friends 2015 9 spd AWD V6 , even though it wasn’t something that you covered in this video , I just want to take a moment to say that for 1 you got a new subscriber while watching this video. 2 you have a excellent screen presence and personality, funny and not afraid to correct yourself if you’re saying something and then you’re like “ wait I think that might be wrong”! I think it’s great that you are just being you, unlike some other channels that edit their content so it’s perfect and they look and sound perfect. What a lot of techs forgot is that behind the editing, Timelapse”s and other things that are done they make it look so easy which isn’t the case EVER! So I just wanted to compliment you on your channel and for having a great lighthearted attitude when doing it. I always think it’s important to tell people on YT if they’re doing something good and you absolutely should be proud for how you’ve developed your own style of videos. I enjoyed watching your channel today, keep up the good work! Chris K 😊
Thanks Alex! i bought my 2015 200S in 2016 with 35k + and now have 277k. Kept up on oil changes, had new oil pan installed due to my own fault, spark plugs once. couple questions for you, how often would you change out spark plugs and how do you feel about fuel system cleansers? only major problem ive had is got a code (0402) about my cat converter. do those cleansers help clean up the cat or no? Thanks!
Thank you for information about airbag light,I really enjoyed my Chrsyler 200 and only problems I had was with battery and few other issues, nothing serious, very dependable
Hi Alex I have a 2016 Chrysler 200. I bought it when it came out. It has about 70 000 mileage. When I first bought it, the car was silent, but now is making a sound like a race car. What should be the problem? Thanks in advance
I have a 2015 Chrysler 200s w/ 3.6L and AWD. It actually looks exactly like your brothers car. Color, wheels, and all! It’s currently in the shop having oil cooler replaced. It was leaking oil like crazy. I have about 125k miles on it. Ive also had to have transmission work done. Thankfully I have a good friend who works as a auto tech at a Chrysler/Dodge dealership so I am able to get parts and labor at his price. He told me to go with the 3.6L as he says they have fewer problems than the 2.4L from what he has seen.
The ironic part is that the ad campaigns for this car claimed these finally matched Japanese quality lmfao. These cars are flashy but I’d steer clear of them if you’re wanting a reliable car and value your time and money. Honda and Toyota are the way to go.
The only issue I’ve ever had was with the E break and it locked the transmission in park. Wasn’t that bad of a fix. Other than that just a little thing like the oil pan gasket. It’s not an exciting car but it’s been extremely reliable and durable. At least in my experience. Just as good as a budget Honda or Toyota.
@@dawg4135 i feel like ppl judge reliability on if you can run it in to the ground as fast as possible lmao, the. 200 is pretty cheap to fix and reliable if youre not driving like a maniac fr and dont live in heavy snow. Transmission be a problem but still not worse than a sentra , prolly comparable to a sonata
@@orionguevera living in Massachusetts it’s not the greatest in the snow because it sits so low. But if you put snow tires on it it’s fine. I’ve had no real problems with the transmission other than little problem I talked about. Overall I think it’s a great little car. No regrets buying it at all.

When I first bought my 2016 Chrysler 200 at 27,000 miles first week engine misfire on cylinder 1. Needed new spark plugs and an engine coil. My hood is hot shortly after running it. I'm at 68,000 miles now and the engine is so much louder and sounds like ticking, I stay on top of my oil changes and try to do w.e I can to take care of it, bought it in Massachusetts for 11,000
Unfortunately I have customers that take the best care of these cars and the still give them tons of problems. I’ve seen the engines just quit at 100,000 on these 😐
I’ve been getting this lately an engine temp hot warning and service elec throttle control right after. If I turn the car off and on it goes away. The coolant temp isn’t hot - displays about 140 degrees. It only happens on cold days. I have a 2015 200 2.4
My 2015 200 Limited has 75K and the dash lit up like a Christmas tree with a msg that said Electric Throttle Control... I have just replaced the Cooling Fan sensor, so now I'm worried... I'll take any advice you have...my brother has been trying, but the problem is only getting worse. Ty, Carrie
I just got 200s 2015 from the dealer with 80000 mils in it. When I accelerate, a gas pedal is shaking. Would that be a serious problem if I keep driving it? Could you also tell me how to maintain this car to keep it for a long time?
Thank you for the informational video. I've been a Lexus technician since 1998, and with Nissan 5 years earlier. My youngest sister has the 200 Pentastar, and she's regularly having me check it out for her. In fact I'm stopping by her place after work because it stalled on her. She said she smelled a "chemical" type smell coming through the vents so she turned off the AC. Shortly after that all the warming lights lit up like a Christmas tree on the combination meter. My first thought was "Great, electrical problem". I had told her to buy a Honda or Toyota, exactly like you mentioned in the video, and then she gets this Chrysler! Ugh Hopefully it's just the alternator. Fingers crossed. Thanks again. Appreciate the time you took to put this video together.
The alternator failed. It actually seized when I got it running with a NOCO jump pack. Ended up rising the alternator and serpentine belt (it smoked the belt before i could jump back in to turn it off). Charged the battery, and she's good to go. Sorry so late getting back. Thanks again for posting the videos!
Hi @Alex, The Car Doctor! Currently, I need a gas/fuel pressure sensor replacement on my 2015 Chrysler 200 baby. I love my car! I feel its very simple for any mechanic to work on. ALso, nobody will disagree when I say the sound system is nice even to be a factory system. Anyways, My question is how much would you charge me to replace this. I do not have time nor any of male family members. I'm just wondering how much this typically costs? I like to know my car issue before I go into the shop and be very knowledgeable. Thanks! Love the channel; keep posting!
I have a 2015 Chrysler 200s and I'm having the worst problems. I'll be driving, and all of a sudden, it will say performance shifting unavailable, and the awd will stop working. I'll shut the car off, turn it back on, and it will work for a while, and then it will happen all over again. The dealer can't figure out what's wrong. Please tell me you have any idea what's going on.
Yes it definitely has a bunch of electrical issues. I’ve replaced the pcm, bcm, radio, ac, and it’ll throw the E brake on by itself as well. Now it’s saying it’s a misfire and I’ve changed all Of the spark plugs and cylinder 2 ignition coil. Check engine light is still on. My car is a 2015. I bought it in 2016 with 11k miles on it. So I’ve had it for about 7.5 years and I’ve changed the battery every bit of 4 times already.
I have a 2016 Chrysler 200C AWD I have 50,000 miles been great car, thanks for advice on full synthetic oil, I always ask for synthetic oil at Chrysler dealership. I did have strange electrical issues 3 years ago I had warning light come on for "forward collision warning" once and 2 weeks after that went to start car in garage would not start but everything else worked. So took wild guess and purchase a battery got home and hook it up and started.
Have a 2015 s also, repced cooler twice.put a mopar cooler in that appeard to have viton o rings. I think that was issue from heat. ended up putting used engine because I didn't have time at work. Reason for replaced engine? Radiator cap was leaking pressure and ultimately caused gasket or head cracking.had no issues since. 160 k miles now.
The oil filter cooler failed on my 2015 200 twice but the second time it took the motor with it as my oil ran out of the top like a fountain but I loved her so much I gave her a second chance bought her new motor when we got the new motor in the doorman all metal cooler was at the top of the list of parts we put on the new motor along with some performance parts to get little bit more power out of it
Similar story with mind kind of. The second time it failed I hired someone to fix it, he broke that one while installing it or installed it wrong, I was told the shit was still leaking and that caused my engine to tick. 184k. I still have the car it runs and drives but it’s ticking. The oil cooler is now fixed correctly. I ended up getting another 200. This time AWD C with EVERY opinion ever offered on theses cars. Love both my babies.
@@Natethegreat200c me to I was gonna use the money to upgrade to a scatpack challenger but I just fell in love with style of it plus the practicality of awd or as I call it fun all year round
@@AlexTheCarDoctor damn at this point I would recommend anyone with a 3.6 to replace there oil cooler filter a 300 preventive maintenance or 7000 dollar headache and I would highly recommend the doorman metal one or oem for any 3.6 that's before 2018 model
I was told that my 200 has a sealed transmission so i cant change my oil. i took it in to the dealer to get it replaced at 30 000 km because it was cracked. thats when i asked how i replace my oil. I think its pretty stupid how they said it should never need to be changed. Id also like to add that my 200 takes 0-20 engine oil. I put 5-30 in it the first time and had to change it right away. It caused it to knock pretty bad.
Alex great video so relocating the ECM and the oil cooler upgrade you suggested for the pt*v6 with the 9spd ,do they need extra care on oil changes and transmission fluid changes too, ive seen the Pn*V6 engine with the 6sp in the 2013 before the body redesign are those 6speed problematic?
Great video... Righteous bro... Thank you so much for the great information. Priceless. I just bought a 2015 200 Limited with 34,000 miles. It runs great and it's a beautiful car but the 9 speed Auto is a little jumpy at times. We will see how it goes🙏. Thanks again you got my subscription.
Thanks Alex I am retired fleet mechanic worked for 28 years at Public Transit Co. And in my spare time work on cars and trucks. My son in law asked if I could check his uncles car a 2015 2.4l I asked what's wrong ,won't start cranks hear fuel pump kicking on I'm thinking its the key fob cause its been sitting for awhile and the battery was dead a now recharged. I'm going to try that battery cable reset. Hope it works. Thanks.
Thanks for the info. Unfortunately my husband who’s passed away now purchased the 4 cylinder. Today sinking 2000.00 into front and rear suspension. Mileage at 80,000. What can you do 🤷🏼♀️. The little car is good on fuel mileage…
I owned a Hyundai Accent SE and it was amazing loved it with all my passion I recently lost it tho due to someone wrecking me and was rolled totaled so I’m currently looking at the Chrysler 200s and I am able too afford it but I just don’t know if I should go forward with the purchase what do y’all think? Go for it or go for a 2013 Hyundai sonata GLS
I have 3.6 Town&Country 14 and have had a 08,09,12. The best one I would have to say is 08 or 09 both of them had the 3.8 v6 the problems I had with them was the plastic y hose for the a/c. Now the 12 was sensitive I had to replace the oil cooler and the tipm had to get a jumper for the fuse because it would act like I needed a fuel pump.
I have a 2016 200 and one of the problems is issues with the throttle position sensor a lot of time you press the gas pedal after slowing down it has a slow response and it could cause a delay when you need to move fast. Another issue that is annoying is the turning radius and when you turn the steering wheel all the way to the left especially the tires rub to the point that it starts locking the tire causing it to hop
My 200 3.6L randomlly sputters on start up - cant figure it out. Itll go 4 -5 weeks fine, then sputter hard on one start up - run fine once its turned over, but sputters hard to start for close to 7 seconds. The v6 in the 300's and Chargers are bullet proof - its weird they derivative in the 200 seems to struggle sometimes.
I need a suggestion, i am planing to buy used car and i have three choices ,chrysler, toyota and hundai.. I am looki g for the car with low maintamnce and good on fuel economy.. Which one among them would be best. I have some inclination towards chrysler.. should I go with it
Every car should be looked over pretty good at every oil change. That way you catch it anything early but today’s oil change places never really look over the vehicle thoroughly so you just have to find a good mechanic in your area.
If you guys are having a service airbag light .. look under front and back seat you'll see a yellow plug on both driver & passenger side.. squeeze them a lil to make sure plug is all the way in , a total of 4 yellow plugs.. the connectors gets loose over time
.. thank me later 😊
THANK YOU for this input!
Thank you because mine recently randomly came on
I'm seeing this right now. Thanks!
Whole deal was my interior color is "Linen/Black"
If leather was black or gray no problem.
I need mine to reach 300k miles. What kind of maintenance are you doing exactly?
Same I need that kind of maintenance schedule is it the 2.4 or 3.6?
Can you give us advice how to get that many miles on our cars I have chrysler 200 has 64,000 miles would love to get it to last 300,000
I agree buddy! Sometimes it’s not the cars. Sometimes it’s owner neglect!
Same bruh i used mine as an Uber and Lyft car and never had a problem. It’s now at 133k. Got a lot of compliments on it.
I have a 2015 Chrysler 200s with 267000 miles and still running great
Probably a 2.4L motor. Still a shitty car
@@elmerhall7326 mine is currently at 291000
@@Bargainteers they didn’t make the 200s in a 2.4 L the 200s only came in 3.6L
Mine had burning smell ended up being transmission cooler lines.
My pleasure glad to hear you are keeping up with the maintenance
Some things are just "inevitable"!
Lol definitely a high maintenance girlfriend
Toyotas are boring, but they also don't bring any drama into your life! LOL
@@MichaelDavis-cy4ok it’s like having a non attractive girlfriend
😂 lol my 200 light came on for the same reason. I think they might have a recall
Same with my ac but other than that it runs great for me. I’m at 170,000 miles and I always use fully synthetic oil.
Change your plugs. You're going to get more power and better gas mileage.
Ya because who cares what a mechanic says about these pos he sees a million of these
Before I talk about my 200, I just wanted to thank you for posting this video.
Just keep and eye on it, definitely do the upgraded aluminum version of it
Not me with a 2015 200 I gotta have this thing for some years buddy. Thank you I’m all eyes and ears when y’all talking. 🙌
I had a 2015 200 for a rental and loved it. I wanted a 200 so bad. I just recently looked into getting one again. Ended up with a Dodge Journey. I'm actually quite happy with my Journey! Got it dirt cheap and it runs great.
Junk
I have a 2015 200 S with a little over 100k miles. Just had the spark plugs changed but now after this im thinking about swapping out that oil cooler. Thanks for this video this has been a lot of help!!
Definitely get that oil cooler changed. I got a video coming of a Chrysler 200 that has a busted oil cooler. It does not end well.
I agree! And the owners manual is definitely key ☝🏽people need to know this!
I am buying used 2016 200 , 170,000 KM driven in good condition
How about gas (fuel) consumption
And if you can guide me what to focus while checking the car.
@@sirajshahid1491 hey there The fuel consumption on these vehicles are pretty good especially the four-cylinder.what engine is in the vehicle that you are considering?
The jerking shift is from a bad upper transmission mount I replaced it on my wife’s car for a hundred bucks did the work myself not hard at all
@@deandeanmunoz Thanks for that info my wife car does the same jerk sometimes. Definitely will look into that
I work at the plant that makes the oil cooler.
You made a great point with the transmission fluid. Love the professionalism!
I think a take away from this as well
Is how the vehicle is driven.
Also your very intelligent mechanic that’s hard to find these days keep up the good work!
Thanks so much for your kind words 👨🏽🔧
I appreciate your input I own a 2016 chysler 200s brought it new has been reliable had minor issues so far.current mileage 103.000.
I like how you did that edit on the correction lol smoothest I've seen on TH-cam
That was my wife lol I’ll tell you said so 🤗
Love the positivity my current car may be totalled and I'm thinking of one of these
I have Chrysler 200 since 2018.
And yea, the power is no joke in the Pentastar. A few bolt on mods and you're hitting 60 in about 5 seconds flat.
It’s a pretty fun vehicle to drive I must say

Thank you for your wealth of knowledge, I have a 2016 200s with 156K. I put 20K plus on it a year it has been a great vehicle so far with minimal issues. It does have that time to time transmission jerk. I took it to a transmission guy and he said since it has the sealed transmission on it, there was no need to change fluid. I have lately been noticing a breaking issue of the ABS system engaging more than I think it needs too. but all in all this 4cyl has been a great work vehicle for me as I'm always on the hwy.

Wow sounds like the stealership to me.I have customers come in all the time same thing
Great info. I have 11650 on mine. Going to get Trans maintenance done for the first time. So far no issues. I have had my 2015 S for 7yrs. Garage kept. I recommend a great warranty and keep up with maintenance. Luckily my runs Great. I did change the thermastat and got a tune up.
I’ve had a 2015 Chrysler 200 now for 3 years and only has 165k on it now, drives fine so far 😊
I have this car and love her but today she started running hot and coolant temp and radiator temp keeps going up
Transmission fluid service is unnecessary according to the dealership.

Chris K 😊

I have a 2016 Chrysler 200. I bought it when it came out. It has about 70 000 mileage. When I first bought it, the car was silent, but now is making a sound like a race car. What should be the problem?
Thanks in advance
Oil cooler is the only bad thing about the pentastar. Had one in our town and country and it wasn’t bad at all. Easy to work on.
What specifically transm work had you done on it?
What trans work did you have done?

Yeh and the CEO said no more junk. I watched the unveiling. People lie
I have a 2015 200 2.4
Sounds like an electrical bug something like that would need to be diagnosed in person
Ty,
Carrie
The first step is to pull any codes that is stored, that will point you in the direction where you need to test
I just got 200s 2015 from the dealer with 80000 mils in it. When I accelerate, a gas pedal is shaking. Would that be a serious problem if I keep driving it?
Could you also tell me how to maintain this car to keep it for a long time?
Would that motor and computer be cooler if you left the motor cover off?
Thank you for posting this video. Spot On
I have a Chrysler 200 2012😢 and it's got a 2.4 later fuel-injected old engine. And it has 251,000 mi on it😊 and it still runs really well.
Good luck brother keep us posted on what you find.thanks for watching
What was the issue?
The alternator failed. It actually seized when I got it running with a NOCO jump pack. Ended up rising the alternator and serpentine belt (it smoked the belt before i could jump back in to turn it off). Charged the battery, and she's good to go. Sorry so late getting back. Thanks again for posting the videos!
Thank you for the information just bought a Chrysler 200 2.4. Like knowing about problems with vehicles
Thanks! Love the channel; keep posting!
bro your vid is so honest and true I will like and subscribe just for the way you present the info, ty
Thanks for the sub! I appreciate it
3 years with this car and they said Enough! That's all I need to know.
Now it’s saying it’s a misfire and I’ve changed all
Of the spark plugs and cylinder 2 ignition coil.
The transmission issues are also electrical ! check the ECM & TCM
Sooooooo glad u fixed it again.
@@Natethegreat200c me to I was gonna use the money to upgrade to a scatpack challenger but I just fell in love with style of it plus the practicality of awd or as I call it fun all year round
I got one in the shop with the same situation, oil cooler failed and took the motor with it 😞
@@AlexTheCarDoctor damn at this point I would recommend anyone with a 3.6 to replace there oil cooler filter a 300 preventive maintenance or 7000 dollar headache and I would highly recommend the doorman metal one or oem for any 3.6 that's before 2018 model
Thanks for the support
Thanks Alex I am retired fleet mechanic worked for 28 years at Public Transit Co. And in my spare time work on cars and trucks. My son in law asked if I could check his uncles car a 2015 2.4l I asked what's wrong ,won't start cranks hear fuel pump kicking on I'm thinking its the key fob cause its been sitting for awhile and the battery was dead a now recharged. I'm going to try that battery cable reset. Hope it works. Thanks.
I just bought a chrysler 200 with 104,000 miles on it only thing i changed so far is pcv valve and knock sensor
The 3.8 and that 4.0 are the best engines Chrysler made in my opinion
I have a 2016 200 and one of the problems is issues with the throttle position sensor a lot of time you press the gas pedal after slowing down it has a slow response and it could cause a delay when you need to move fast.
Another issue that is annoying is the turning radius and when you turn the steering wheel all the way to the left especially the tires rub to the point that it starts locking the tire causing it to hop
What were you trying to say about the vacuum pump fail safe? Whats the symptoms other than hard petal to press? Shaky brakes??
Looking to buy one and came across this video. Great job breaking it down!
Glad it was helpful!
Have you tried a fuel induction service you may have sticky injectors which a fuel induction service will most likely cure
A Proxy Alignment surprisingly resolves a couple of these issues. Even the transmission issues.
I need a suggestion, i am planing to buy used car and i have three choices ,chrysler, toyota and hundai..
I am looki g for the car with low maintamnce and good on fuel economy..
Which one among them would be best. I have some inclination towards chrysler.. should I go with it
So crazy, I have a 200 🥹 I love her, 130K miles and she’s still going strong, no issues at all.
How often should these cars need proper maintenance? Will there be any indication?
Every car should be looked over pretty good at every oil change. That way you catch it anything early but today’s oil change places never really look over the vehicle thoroughly so you just have to find a good mechanic in your area.
