I love candles! Scented candles are the best but it needs to be natural scents, essential oils, although they are only to be gently heated not so much burned. I am 55yrs and tickled pink to hear you speaking so genuinely of hugge and thrifting in the same sentence! Love it!! You warm my heart, Dear! I am thrilled that you are you again! I am with Stuart on this, if it makes it to my cart, it is going home with me. I am under a foot of snow presently, here in BC Canada. Our tree is artificial and dressed in silver, white and shades of blue every year....we are pagans and this is how we roll. Lol If you put your candies in a cut glass bowl, the grandkids will gobble them up! Lol Those orange bell bottom leisure pants are gorgeous! Those butterfly pants are so sweet! We have no mantle here in the Great White North. Lol....I would put that in my diningroom on the table but not while I still have 4 dogs! I love marigolds and their scent but my oldest daughter deeply despises it in equal measure. I still griw them in every garden as they keep the mosquitoes out. I have been stopping and starting this part of your video, so I can study the layering and all the beautiful blue and white in John's house. Brightest blessings.
I love candles! But I only burn one on my glass top stove. Otherwise I use fairy lights with batteries. I'm getting forgetful in my elderly years!😪 And I really love my little fairy lights stuffed into all sorts of things!
I love candles. I do have some faux candles but like to burn real candles on a daily basis. My dear adopted grandmother used to light a candle for someone specific so I carry on that tradition.❤
My husband always lights a candle on coffee table, at night in front the TV. Love your ideas. I took the skewers and spray painted them gold, and put them in my plants, that are in pots, the vines grow up around them.
Hi Linda ...wonderful Fall Decorating tips.. I absolutely Love candles 3-wick or single. Have shopped for unique scents for each season. I have several boxes - always stock up before winter. Totally changes my mood & always scented & couldn't live without them!
I love to buy glass pieces at thrift stores - to use in the garden. They can be drinking glasses or light fixture globes, or whatever isn't too large, as I use them to top solar lights. It protects the solar panel, plus magnifies the light, plus just looks nice even in daylight. I also "layer" them for "lanterns". Since I lived near the beach, I'll fill something like a glass cylinder with shells and a solar light, than out a larger one over it.
You are the one who got me to use a candle with my morning meditation. I love it!!! it is my quiet time just for me. I mostly use scented but sometimes just tapers. This time of year is my favorite for using lots of candle light.
Linda those small lipped glass votives are actually the glass containers I buy with yogurt. The brand is Oui by Yoplait they are wonderful individual serving of desserts I serve lemon or chocolate mousse in them all the time. Or fruit or yogurt on a breakfast buffet. Lots of uses! And recycle, reuse, repurpose wins the day!
Love love love all and any kind of candles. Can’t be without them and I use everything from sea shells to wine bottles as holders. Very bohemian I’ve been told which I take as a huge compliment.❤️
Last year, after you suggested it, I started using a nut bowl last fall and through the holidays. My siblings said it sure brought back wonderful memories and my grandchildren loved the new tradition. I love the idea of the various large glass vessels with candles.
Linda...you have a great eye. Love your thrifty treasures. Hubby and I are planning a winter driving adventure from Fort Wayne to southern Texas. Love the back roads and thrift store discoveries. We may need to swing through Oklahoma City.
Greetings, Linda and Stewart. We so enjoyed re-visiting these shopping and home videos. Loved the camera focus on that cute bulldog statue at the thrift store [click 31:10]; my focus would also have been on that little cutie.
I *love* the smell of marigolds! I think of it smelling like watermelon and strawberries together! I grow a variety of them, and zinnias. You made a lovely bouquet.
Love candles both real and fake and fairy lights. Helps during the dark winter months. Have a coffee dented one I am burning now usually in the evenings. Especially like the fake candles with timers. Plus have electric fireplace in den for extra heat and light
I LOVE candles!! If I have a scented one burning I have unscented ones burning also. They are in every room. I've even made some very pretty, cheap candle holders from Dollar Tree glassware. Thanks for all your ideas! 😊
Yes! My mom had lots of shoe clips! A great way to dress up an outfit, and look like you got new shoes! Sometimes I'll even use vintage clip earrings the same way, or on a shirt or sweater.
Lastly, and not the first time,I am constantly enamored by your amazing watch! It just shines and reflects light, and that bracelet that graces your wrist,it all comes together so delightfully, your watch,it occupies such a nice bit of real estate that is your wrist😊
I love burning candles. I’m pretty careful about scents…some give me awful headaches. I am horribly NOT careful with them and have been known to go to bed, head to the store, etc…whilst leaving them burning. So far, so good. I like battery operated candles and I love the ones that you can program to come on at a certain time each night.
I use scented candles for my bathrooms and on the mantle and dining table, But with 2 big dogs, I can’t use many real candles because of wagging tails 😊but, the flicker faux candles are so realistic that I can still have an abundance of ambiance without having to worry about the flame. So many great ideas, Linda !!
Good morning Linda let me just start off by saying you look BEAUTIFUL!!! I love this video and all your ideas! You definitely have a talent for decor and style! 🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍
Firstly, thank you for always brightening my day,I totally have a crush on you! Candles, not so much, but I do make my own Insence. I use mugwort, infuse it,typically with citrus oil,and it smokes away so delicately.
I burn them when I wake up as well! If I am home they burn all day. The balsam scent by bath and body is my fav ever. You can have fake trees and burn this candle and the entire house smells like a real tree. The best fresh scent. Not artificial smelling.
I have a candle lit at all times (I am home) I believe a philosophy that humans need an open flame to stay grounded to earth and fire promoted evolution of the brain..... Some people need water... aquariums, fountains etc. I love all of the tips you give us! TY so much Linda !
I always use unscented candles or the flameless ones. I do love to have on my gas fireplace in the morning with a couple of woodwick candles, they make a crackling noise,
I like to use cream candles of various sizes from ikea in glass cylinder containers in our wood burning fireplace. For Christmas I put faux pine greenery and pine cones I've collected around them. The candles are supported in the cylinders with Epsom salt so it looks like snow. The cylinders make it safe to use candles around the greenery.
The metal clips were used in the 1950's to fancy up plain flats or pumps. I had 2 pair of rhinestone ones for evening ware when I was a teenager. Fancy dansy stuff back then. 😊
I was just putting a glittery decoration in a glass container with a candle yesterday! Love candles. I buy those fragrance cubes and put around my house. I found Warm Cookies today. 😊❤️
Hi Linda and Stewart The shoe clips I used to buy to jazz up flats and handbags. Popular thing to do in the 80’s along with those silly bows in the hair and bows around the neck. Ie female ties yuk! The hurricane lamp shades can be found on Etsy. Just put in vintage glass hurricane shades. Know the top and bottom diameters. I like the long knit vest you bought. It will keep your legs warm. I have several Sundance clothing items. They last for years and are timeless in design. They also have nice jewelry and home goods. You look terrific! Cold in 7a New York today!
@@LindaVater we made reservations at a nice restaurant on the Hudson River! Very nice staff appreciates the business! It’s in Newburgh ny which is a tough town. We have been to their sister restaurant on the river in Poukeepsie New York but they were fully booked a month ago for thanksgiving. After that we will go to croton gorge to take a family pix for our Christmas card. Hope the weather is good! I love that tablecloth. But I have too many of those too! 🥰🥰!🦃🦃
We have different size large battery operated candles in our den which come on late afternoon/evening. I used antique wooden pillars to set them on. Each one is different.
Great ideas on using various glass containers for mood lighting, but I have a cautionary tale to share. A friend of mine did just that using vintage glassware. Unfortunately during our party, several of the glass containers exploded from the heat created by the lit candles! Luckily, no one was hurt. I would use those lovely flickering battery candles you shared with us a while back instead. I love all your thrifty decor ideas!!!
I’ve got several Luminaries in my home on timers set for evening. I don’t burn a fire in the fireplace but instead have 3 Luminary battery operated candles on a black wrought iron candleholder as a fireplace insert. Couldn’t live without them. (I don’t care for scented candles)
I'm a candle freak and have a large cylinder to hold it for the danger factor. I burn it all day and purchase all my candles at thrift stores on senior days.
YES I burn candles all day now that my kids are a little bigger and know not to mess with them. I also have faux candles that are on a timer that starts at dusk and I have candle warmer that I leave on all the time and use burned down candle in it to get every bit of scent out of them
Ok i think u just answered my other question...you simply replace some of ur old stuff..i guess i hang on to everything...!! Even though i want stylish kitchen i cant part w my Grandparents pots and stainless besides still very useful
I love candles in the dark times of the year with devotions/prayer times. I am switching to those with natural scents only, as breathing artificial "stuff" is not healthy for people or pets. I also use battery ones. I only burn them in areas where my golden's tail cannot access!
I love candles but I guess I’ve never thought of using them in the daytime🤔 I typically use unscented unless they are the ones in a can from Trader Joe’s because they smell real instead of like chemicals. My husband I always have candles at dinner.
Luck for me I have an authentic Chianti bottle covered with red rafia a friend brought from Italy. That one Ii don't want to drip wax on so I stuffed a string of little battery lights into it. But when I was a child, wine bottles with wax dripped over them were always used as candle holders for the frequent Italian food dinners.
I started watching your videos on YT and can’t comment, but in answer to your question about candles, l don’t light them in the morning, but l light my votives at night when l watch TV . I don’t worry about falling asleep and fire hazards , because l use the little glass closed oil lights ( l sent you the info once) they are very safe. I like them due to the safety aspect and the real flame 🔥 inside my votives that dance and throw natural light.
So happy to see you up and thrifting! I was very worried about you when you were accepting gifts from people...about the severity of your surgery and your diverticulitis. You are talking about candle holders and candy dishes. Life is good. BTW, no idea what Mid Century Modern furniture is. Maybe you should have a second channel on house architectural styles and furniture styles...
You’re taking me back to the late sixties with the Chianti bottle and drip candles 🤭
Linda, yes, you embellish your shoes with those fancy clips. I used them on my plane pumps, and I still have a set.🎉
Those Leaves are so Striking!
I swear with each new video you look younger and more gorgeous than the last! 😮 🎉
Aw. 🙏
She is wearing a lot more makeup and it translates well on camera.
Definitely vintage shoe clips to embellish a plain pair of shoes to coordinate with different outfits. Love all of your inspirational ideas.🥿
Yes, those shoe clips were all the rage when plain black flats were trendy.😊❤️
I love candles! Scented candles are the best but it needs to be natural scents, essential oils, although they are only to be gently heated not so much burned.

Brightest blessings.
I love the ones we get here from Texas from a local candlemaker from Fredericksburg. The scent was birds of paradise. Divine.
Love that you are shopping your son's closet! I have 3 grown sons and would totally do this.
Those are called Shoe Clips and we wore those in the 80's. Great memories and wonderful video! Tfs
I’m continually impressed by your vocabulary! Bravo!!
I love candles! But I only burn one on my glass top stove. Otherwise I use fairy lights with batteries.
I'm getting forgetful in my elderly years!😪
And I really love my little fairy lights stuffed into all sorts of things!
I love candles. I do have some faux candles but like to burn real candles on a daily basis. My dear adopted grandmother used to light a candle for someone specific so I carry on that tradition.❤

I have heard that!
I love your idea using the soda pop bottles with those corks. I’m going to put my vanilla extract in one of those! Thanks for the great idea
Lovely memories and hopefully the next family enjoys it as much as your family.
I love Linda's thrifting videos, so great! I love burning candles, they are so nice when the are scented! I really love the battery operated candles!

I absolutely enjoy watching your videos --- love thrifting too.

I found a cute wood box that holds 4 of those bottles and I put sprinkles in, chocolate chips, M and M’s, and coconut flakes for ice cream bar.
Yes! My mom had lots of shoe clips!
A great way to dress up an outfit, and look like you got new shoes!
Sometimes I'll even use vintage clip earrings the same way, or on a shirt or sweater.
Yes candles are a must in my kitchen in the morning.
Lastly, and not the first time,I am constantly enamored by your amazing watch!
It just shines and reflects light, and that bracelet that graces your wrist,it all comes together so delightfully, your watch,it occupies such a nice bit of real estate that is your wrist😊
I should add,it shines, like a rectangle of Obsidian,a gem it glows, alongside the gold and silver bracelet,a true statement of mineral and technology.😊
Love your friend John
Me too:)

What a fun video recap to view today! Love it!👏👏👏🥰❤️
I love scented candles, but am using mostly natural beeswax candles now--they are healthier to breathe, have a lovely, soft scent and are beautiful.
You have Sweater Clips for cardigan sweaters. Sometimes they have little chains between them. Shoe clips are bigger to go over the shoe.
Really enjoyed all of this video!!
Im so into this you guys have no idea!💕💞

Women’s collar/lapel clips. Very popular in the 40’s. The great actresses of the 40’s wore them in movies. Btw, you look great.
