Winter is definitely my time to purge, organize, reflect and rest. Most friends head south for the winter but I am so very content to slow down and give my house as much love as I give my garden all the other three seasons.
What a great episode full of many, many creative ideas!! I thoroughly enjoy watching your channel! Thank you for all the thought and hard work that goes into every episode.
I love polished silver. I say polish the biscuit jar. The beauty of it is if you decide you like it better tarnished…you know it will end up back that way soon!
Just think how beautiful that polished biscuit tin would look in your kitchen, say on the island. It has a beautiful design on it that will be such a pleasure to view and matches your stainless steel appliances!
One of my favorite episodes! Thanks for all your sharing, digital help and War & Peace idea. I've never read it either. 😍Your Biscuit Jar needs polish!
Really wonderful tips! Enjoy all your videos but especially this one for winter. Those flowers were beautiful. Looking forward to your instruction videos, Stewart!
Definitely polish your biscuit jar. You will love it! I found a silver biscuit jar at a thrift store and polished it when I got it home and it's so beautiful!
Thank you, Linda, for sharing with us! You make the world a better place ❤. On another note, I agree with Stewart...leave the years of character on the silver.
Thank you Linda, you gave me a little boost for the year to come. You always inspire me. 🥰 I say polish the biscuit holder, it’s beautiful. You will see it in a new light. Plus, it will always tarnish again. 😊 All the best in the new year! ❤
I did the food thing with things left from our Christmas dinner. We had ham and a broccoli rice casserole. I had a good amount of broccoli so made broccoli cheddar cheese soup and added ham. Then today chopped all the left over ham in food processor and made ham salad. It does make you feel good to use up what you have and be creative. Thanks for your videos and polish your biscuit tin ❤.
I had lots of apples too! I made my special applesauce and it’s been yummy for breakfast with Greek yogurt and homemade granola. Thank you for the January tips!
Royal blue and I love it,also went back to old photos and realised what a fun year I’ve had ,thank you Linda from Scotland, love watching everything you do 💕
The colors you selected are my favorite to use on my Fall tablescapes. The blues and oranges just speak to me even year 'round. Bravo on your floral color choices!
Definitely believe that fine silver should be polished. Left unattended, pits develop: tiny black spots that can't be easily polished away. For thrifted or other non-sentimental pieces, a dark aged look can be attractive. But for precious pieces, especially those family pieces that might be appreciated by the next generations, I think a polish is in order. 😊
I have just cleaned my dear mums silver christening cup. I have never seen it sparkle in my entire life...I'm 65 now and my mum died after a full, rich life last autumn aged 90. I debated over whether the patina of the years should be kept or not but finally decided that silver was meant to shine. With 4 active children to bring up, it was probably not a high priority for mum whilst I was child and the cup languished for years, unpolished, in a drawer or cupboard. Now it shines beautifully and will be included in my christmas decorations bringing lovely warm memories of mum. I will always miss her , but this will bring her closer.
I polish all of my silver…jewelry, candle sticks, biscuit tins, etc. It just catches the light so beautifully, it stands out! I get so many compliments on polished jewelry! So I say polish it! ☺️
Happy New Year Linda and Stewart! I am also participating in the slow read of War and Peace with Footnotes and Tangents. I was so impressed by all the resources Simon created to make this experience unique and enjoyable.
Having Stuart share his techy skills is a wonderful idea! It seems I’m in the minority, but I would not polish the biscuit box. I feel it will strip away the character and warmth of a cherished piece. Also, I’m in agreement with Stuart wrt the lovely, tarnished candlestick. Blessed New Year to you both!
"Poverty makes you creative." Or CAN. I love polished silver. It reflects the light so beautifully. ❤You look so beautiful in red. Hope you had a lovely visit with your chikdren.
Thanks Linda and Stuart. I checked the links and will be try to do the War & Peace slow read. My friend did it last year. Thank you for your ideas, inspirations and suggestions. There are plenty of new ideas to discover in this video. Happy January 2025.
Thank you for such an informative and fun video. Stuart will be watching for instructions on Spotify Playlist. As always love your content from central Nebraska.
So many gems in all your videos! I too have many screenshot project ideas, and hope at least some of them come to fruition 😂 Interesting to learn that your son, Johnny also writes! The blue looks as if it's Solent Blue, a British color. The soup recipe sounds delicious, can't wait to try it
Hi Linda, Polish your mom's biscuit canister, see if you enjoy it's beauty all polished and shiny. Polishing silver can be therapeutic too.. If your don't like it polished, not a problem, it will tarnish again.
Linda, wondering if you might consider sharing some of your favorite cocktail recipes. While thrifting, you often mention barware, and I'm thinking you could offer a fresh twist.
I love the look of fresh polished silver. A great, inexpensive cleaning tip for silver is toothpaste (not the gel kind but the white paste)! You can rub it into your silver piece and use an old soft toothbrush for getting into nooks and crannies. Rinse in cool water and buff with a chamois or soft cloth. Like new!
I think I would call that blue, a royal blue. Another blue that is popular and goes with many other colors, is the Federal blue. Love your channel. Have been following you for years. I really love the versatility of content. It keeps things interesting. 😊
Hi Linda You look gorgeous in that sweater and scarf. I love this kind of video. I love the polished look, but it’s up to you. I do like old rusty stuff ..have a lot of rusty metal art. I love the earrings your husband bought you before you married. I have jewelry from when my husband and I dated and of course after being married. I told him not to buy me gold earrings..I always lose one. Yes, Linda you and Stewart are loved . ❤❤❤
Hi Linda! I decided to try your search a single day on iPhone photos to clean up my ever growing album and I entered January 1 to start…what comes up on my January 1 but several screenshots of your old garden I saved for inspiration 🤓….I’m not deleting those!
Hi Linda & Stewart! Question of the Day: I would call it a French Blue. Great video, as always. Love the tips on searching the date in the photos app to review and curate/delete photos. I've already started doing it, so thank you! Hope you guys are having a great start to your 2025! ❣Angela
Thank you for a fun video! I swatched the blue as azul blue, with royal blue as a close second. I never disagree with Stewart, but…I vote to polish. 😊 I also followed John’s lead and polished and used my silver trays. One was beautiful under precious and thrifted crystal treat jars and footed dishes. I used another for an upscale hot cocoa bar. Thank you for endless ideas and inspiration. Happy New Year, everyone! ❤
Great episode! Inspirational! Btw, I used to have lots of tear sheets but I took screenshots of them and organized them into decor, gardening etc. So much easier to browse now.
Linda, your idea about the photo management for our phones inspired me. I’m going to do that this year. I started it after watching your video and I’ve added another thing that I think will be helpful. As I go thru each day’s plots, I’m adding a caption so maybe I can find what I’m looking for easier from now on. For instance…”how did I decorate my mantel last Christmas?”, future Me might ask. I search for ‘Christmas mantel”!
Wonderful tips, Linda. Thank you. Excited to learn about Spotify and new things from Stuart. I love silver both ways, but that particular piece is calling out to be polished in my opinion. It is beautiful.
Love the video I would not polish the tin at this time it looks perfect now,but as you know as time goes by it will tarnish more when it gets to dark then I would polish🥰( so much good ideas in this video)Thanks for all the fab info🥰☕️
Egads! War & Peace…no thanks. I think I’ll paint my bathroom. 😊 Johnny sounds like a fascinating guy. I know you are so proud. Yay! I’ll tune in to Stewart’s tutorial on Spotify. Been wanting to do this for quite some time.❤
I recently read about a way to clean tarnished silver. I tried it and it worked well : baking soda and boiling water in a tub Lined with aluminum foil. Thought you might want to try it.
I am so excited to hear that Stuart is going to share some of his tech knowledge with us. Thank you Stuart!
Winter is definitely my time to purge, organize, reflect and rest. Most friends head south for the winter but I am so very content to slow down and give my house as much love as I give my garden all the other three seasons.

Just think how beautiful that polished biscuit tin would look in your kitchen, say on the island. It has a beautiful design on it that will be such a pleasure to view and matches your stainless steel appliances!
You could also put a small vase in it and do a floral arrangement inside.
I loved your live TH-cam today so much. You openness has helped me so much. You have a beautiful soul. Keep helping us in so many ways.

Cornflower blue -- love it.
Thanks, this was a fun post for a dreary day. I vote to polish the biscuit box. You can always let it tarnish again. It's just stunning.
That blue looks like Yankee blue or bright blue to me. Loving the orange color for January.
I did the food thing with things left from our Christmas dinner. We had ham and a broccoli rice casserole. I had a good amount of broccoli so made broccoli cheddar cheese soup and added ham. The silver biscuit tin looks beautiful as is. If it’s silver plate, I’d leave it. If it’s sterling, I’d polish it. I have one very similar
The colors you selected are my favorite to use on my Fall tablescapes. The blues and oranges just speak to me even year 'round. Bravo on your floral color choices!
I do love spending time with you. And learning too, 🙂

Happy New Year Linda & Stuart & families🎉❤
At first glance, I think the color of the book is leaning towards cornflower blue. 💙
A 2nd option for polishing silver is a product named Never Dull. Messy yet well worth it.
I pull my pictures that I love from magazines and tape them inside of my kitchen cabinets.
Thank you for a fun video! I swatched the blue as azul blue, with royal blue as a close second. I never disagree with Stewart, but…I vote to polish. 😊 I also followed John’s lead and polished and used my silver trays. Sapphire blue is the color I believe. Great idea having Stuart teach us tech stuff, I need it.

I love your scarf! It looks like a Marimekko print.
Periwinkle blue😊
Polish it, enjoy, then let it slowly tarnish and enjoy that, too. Then polish it again when you’re ready for the shiny look again, and on it goes.
Royal Blue on the book. I enjoy your channel! Thank you kindly.
Wonderful tips, Linda. Thank you. Excited to learn about Spotify and new things from Stuart. I love silver both ways, but that particular piece is calling out to be polished in my opinion. It is beautiful.

Love this video. I loved Silo so much that I read the three book series because I wanted to know what had happened. Enjoyed the books immensely!
I recently read about a way to clean tarnished silver. I tried it and it worked well : baking soda and boiling water in a tub Lined with aluminum foil. Thought you might want to try it.
I'm definitely a polished silver girl.
Chunky apple sauce is great for extra apples.
