Hey Joe loved the video, but with rubrics big Big tip they are so much better as squads of 5, as you can only bring 1 autocannon per unit so having 5 groups of 5 is actually much more fire power and generated 5 cabal points a turn over the 3 your getting a turn from them now keep up the 40k content love it
Oh and scarab terminator are best off in 10 man blocks as they get buffed by a unit, also a good idea to put the missile rack and autocannon on the same guy as thay way as the squad dwindles down you can save him and the sorceror for last to retain good damage output even as the squad gets smaller

Everything is a dice roll and stats give +1 or -1 to the numbers. Attacker rolls dice on whether something hits, then rolls again for does it go through armor and do any damage, so on and so forth. You use multiple dice at once because every single figure has a chance to do their thing during your turn. So if you have squad of 10 figures, you roll 10 dice when they all shoot at the same time. In this scenario Thousand Sons are a magic-oriented army of demon worshippers. Rubric marines (the blue egyptian looking ones) are just ghosts inside armors, so they're super-hard to kill but also quite slow and need a sorcerer near them to maintain them. Blood Angels are a Space Marine chapter that have a lot of bonuses to melee combat and are more melee-oriented than other Space Marine chapters.
Hey Joe, there is a 40k game that has alternating activation and less die roll by removing Wound rolls. It's called One Page Rules, and imo it works better than 40k and also gives a similar feel to 3/4th Ed 40k.
The realization joe had after the investment of 2k was the same wave of emotion i felt when i finally played and realized how long the game is. Its 100% unacceptable for a game that is considered by the community to be competitive to take longer than 2 hours. For new players and learning i always add an hour for explanation and stuff but you guys getting to 6 is insanity. I hope you have better experiences and im happy someone agrees about 1k maybe being the right play. Especially with GW specifically mentioning it and ruling it as a format. So we shall see. You cant teach an old dog new tricks and the 40k dog is ancient and doesnt wanna leave the safe space that is 2k games. But unless GW does something to increase interaction like alt activation or reduce gametime by limiting activations per turn. Imagine only activating 3 units a turn. The game will remain very gatekeepy at too many points

I've always thought Warhammer and 40K were really cool but never played them because they are insanely expensive and I'm diabolical at all kinds of art so I would have had to buy pre-painted ones too.
Joe, how do I get into Warhammer? Was attracted to some of the horror aspects and they seemed Eldritch in nature. Saw that Warhammer Horror was just made not too long ago, so I have that. Plus some of the action games seem cool as well, but I want to know a starting point to learn everything like lore and such.
Just the game, or the lore? Because what introduced me personally was Bricky, who did an all factions explained video, while also talking about the tabletop. He is also a part of a channel called Dice Check, where all they do is play Warhammer. A new version of the tabletop came out in the past few months, and he has videos explaining how they affect each faction. If you need more info on how to play the game, there are videos that do that very well. If you want more lore information, there is another channel called Islander & Koda that goes into the lore. They make it bite-sized, but considering the lore, that bite is huge.
Leutin09 has many very in-depth videos you could watch, his emperor of man series will give you a good idea of what's actually going on in the lore, in terms of how things on the table top actually work rules wise check out auspex tactics.

Did you use the daemon prince for the first doom bolt when you did two on the dreadnoughts? Pretty sure you can't have the same psyker cast it twice, Lord of forbidden lore is worded "the bearer can be selected to use a ritual even if ANOTHER psyker has already been selected to use it this phase"

GREAT! A 2000 pt battle instead of another Combat Patrol. I know they’re quick and easy - ideal for YT - and great for beginners, but I’m NOT a fan of the Combat Patrol format. This is great timing because I decided to start a Thousands Sons army. I actually bought the TS Boarding Patrol several months ago because I needed more Chaos Spawn for my World Eaters army (but 10e removed Blood Tithe, so that no longer applies) and I wanted the Rubric Marines as options for my Black Legion army. But now that TS are the strongest CSM army in 10e, I figure I might as well go for it! 😅
Curious, why are you not fan of Combat Patrol? It's nice style for fast game without having to stand around table for 3h. And with Combat Patrol you can easy play even 3-4 games in one evening with diffrent army Patrols to add variety.

The $$ price determined what was included in the box, NOT the points cost of the units (which also change). For example, recently AJ played a CP battle with Black Templars vs. Orks. The problem was that the points cost of the Ork CP force was 530, whereas the Black Templars only had 445 points. The Orks basically got a second unit of 10 Boyz for FREE. Also, the Black Templars had an Impulsor (dedicated transport) whereas the Orks had a Deth Dread (Ork dreadnought), which had greater killing power; and the BTs inexplicably had 5 Intercessors - a shooting unit whereas BTs are a melee army - when they should’ve had 5 Sword Brethren instead, which would’ve increased their points to 515. AJ experienced a similar defeat in the Aeldari vs. Astra Militarum CP battle because the Aeldari CP force had a Wraithlord, which is the most OP’d unit in 10e. I predict that GW will be releasing new Combat Patrol boxes in 10e, which will presumably be better balanced against each other. In the meantime, GW should’ve posted updated Combat Patrol forces instead of going with the CP box contents. They sorta did update the CP forces with the inclusion of named Characters, often with NERFED Abilities; i.e. the Black Templar Marshal Siguard lost both of the generic Marshal’s Abilities, whereas the Orks Warboss Gordrang retained the Warboss in Mega Armour’s Dead ‘Ard ability. Hardly fair considering the Orks already had an 85 points advantage. Unsurprisingly, that BT vs Orks CP battle was a rout for the Orkz.

The 500 point Combat Patrol format is fine IF it allowed players to bring whatever units they wanted, like in 9e. However, in 10e GW’s goal was to make it as simple as possible to pick up and play, which is why they locked CP battles to the contents of the CP boxes. Even within the restriction of 9e CP boxes, they could’ve modified the CP forces to be more balanced. For example, I already explained that the Orks CP force is 85 points more than the Black Templars force, giving them a second 10 squad of Boyz for free. If the Orks CP had to omit those 10 Boyz, it would be better balanced. By far the most un-balanced CP force by points is the Adeptus Custodes CP box, which has 695 points of units!

@@honestbenny Yes, the units in the 9e CP boxes weren’t designed to be balanced in terms of points or power, rather to provide 30-40% $$ discount. That’s why customers buy them.
The 500 point Combat Patrol format is fine IF it allowed players to bring whatever units they wanted, like in 9e. However, in 10e GW’s goal was to make it as simple as possible to pick up and play, which is why they locked CP battles to the contents of the CP boxes.
Even within the restriction of 9e CP boxes, they could’ve modified the CP forces to be more balanced. For example, I already explained that the Orks CP force is 85 points more than the Black Templars force, giving them a second 10 squad of Boyz for free. If the Orks CP had to omit those 10 Boyz, it would be better balanced.
By far the most un-balanced CP force by points is the Adeptus Custodes CP box, which has 695 points of units!

@@gearlord1968 i understand, however Joe loves video games. i started watching Joes youtube videos in the year 2008/9 (chromehounds video) and there have been many years of ups and downs. Alot of stress too for him. So i am happy to see joe enjoy things he likes, if thats warhammer than that is great.
I am into the warhammer hobby too so i dont mind this. But i dont like it when people (not you but others) kinda feel that Joe is obligated to them to make video game reviews.
Its true that most of his audience doesnt watch the warhammer vids, and maybe that will inspire joe again to make video game reviews.
I think the best way to adress ths is to say:

Well it looks Joe stopped being a game reviewer a while back. I hope he starts reviewing more more often. His reviews come so so late that I lose all interest in watching them even if they happen to come out at all.

Yea hes not interested in it, you can tell by the effort it gets. WH section gets the most production attention by far, the rest is as minimal as possible, they cant even bother timestamping the news.
