I grew up with windmill and cistern in western Iowa. Every s often something had to be done to the pump. When the wind didn’t blow we used old John Deere hit and miss motor to pump the water. Enjoyed your build. God bless you
Man that’s living!!!! I wish I had lived in those days. I think I was born 50-100 years too late! Thank you for watching and I’m glad we can take you on a trip back in time!!
You’re my #1. The rest of TH-cam can wait. BTW. I wish there was a way for all of us to hear the answers to questions. Some people ask good ones. Keep it up, Love you folks!
I really enjoy it when you explain the technical side of the entire system (gph, well depth, mill sizing). While many only see the beauty of the mill, we can also understand their original purpose and all the mechanics.
Got to say that you guys make a heck of a team really love your vidios, learn a lot, growing up in Okc enjoy seeing all the places you go to.been in texas over 50 years. Thanks for what you do
I very much enjoy your information on windmills, if I was slot younger I believe I would like to do this for a while just for the experience if to nothing else. Would you create a post on sources to get products to buy windmills, their parts, books, tool suppliers, pumps, (solar and mechanical) Maybe touch on some common operating costs, truck use, maintenance, millage cost, insurance, I'm 66 and retired and still like to learn other trades even though I'm probably not going to do it. I'm also disabled, bad back, legs shoulder, ECT. I was a mechanic for over42 years. (Fun note: I was a Crash fire truck mechanic at Kelly Air Force base in San Antonio Texas) I now live in Universal City Texas outside San Antonio. From 1985 to 1998. Worked mainly on the flight line. I remember you said you were in the Air Force. Keep on posting. I get to Oklahoma every so often. My dad was born in Non Oklahoma, and raised in Holdenville.
Thank you!!! We love what we do! You would love this too due to your mechanical background. The worst thing about this is you’re 100% in the elements all day long every day, good or bad. That’s the only downside. I get to ride around with my best friend all day, so I’m happier than a pig in the mud! I almost got to go to Kelly once but then they closed down and didn’t get to. I was actually a Civilian working for the Air Force. Was a great gig!!!!!! Thank you so much sir for watching us!!!!!!
This is the one I have been waiting for. No ticks or chiggers on this install, in the previous video I thought you said that you crawled around in those KC 135 tankers. I was in S.A.C. packed the drag and personnel chutes for the B-52. I really enjoy all the info and stats that you include in your videos awesome content.👍👍👍👍
Thank you sir! Yep, I was a civilian machinist for the Air Force. KC135 was my aircraft although I go to travel around the county for the E8 J-Stars. Was a great time. Left there in 2022 to pursue this full time! Thank you so much!!!!
Haha yep, those were just different people. They had to, so they did it. I guess we would be the same way, but man were they tough! Driving around in model A’s with a small trailer, lots of rope and pulleys, and a desire to work! I believe I was born 100 years too late too sometimes tho! Thank you for watching!!!!!
One thing the video doesn't show is just how hot it is working out there. I'm guessing you were still mid 90s (like we are in Dallas). Add to that mechanical problems and dead batteries -- tough job, and moving the camera to get the best shots is even more work. Thanks for the huge effort to show us this huge windmill going together!
I've been curious if you have ever shown how to set the brake and spring setup on a baker monitor windmill. We have one at our cabin here in Canada and when we put it up we didn't put the spring tight enough. So the blade will screech when the wind blows hard enough. Also I'm too big of a guy to get up the tower myself and I have to rent a man lift to be able to go up and work on it. So I've been trying to do some research on how to fix it before we rent the lift. Then I can fix it properly
Hey go up and tell that other truck to come down and show you how it works and you wan to see it in action befor you buy it lol have him to lift it for you lol
That mast pipe is almost as tall as Lorie. Love that sunset. thank you for showing us. Question, i understand having it short stroke, but does the mill need to be 14 or is a 10ft under powered for that well cylinder?
Good question. The 14 is WAY o overpowered for this well, a 6 or 8 would have worked, but they were going for the the look factor. And they got it!!!!!!! Yep the sunset is crazy out there!!! The parts on this thing were all so huge. We’re hoping to do a 16 soon, so wait till you see them parts!!!!
I like what I see so far but I can’t for the life of me wonder how you scope that boom out. Every lift that I’ve ran you have to let the hook down as you go out. But it seem like you run the hook all the way up as you go out
Yep the hook lifts it. There are no hydraulics on the extension. The cable goes through a pulley on the extending tube, and as the cable goes I’m, it extends and manually locks. To release it, same way, run the hook to the top and pull a pin, and let it down.😀
What’s crazy, we thought we were! Phone was sideways. Not sure what’s happened. We’ve been around them types of phones for a long time and know to do that, or so we thought!!! Not sure if it’s how it brought it into my software, or not. But man that really bothered me when I couldn’t rotate it and make it right! Ugh!!!! Thank you buddy for watching!!!!
Man they range from the $5k range to $50k range! And that’s just the windmill and tower. Also used versus new might affect price, but not all the time. Thank you for watching!
Ok at 14:09 you showed that dream truck. What was it doing in your erea ? But why would u want it does it have a sand line on it? I was thinking I bet it would be uesfull to have where you could clean out the ole mud in the bottom. What is your thought on that
Exactly!!! They’re about to sell it. So it’s 47’ tall extended, mine is about 32’. That would be super handy! Sand line would be awesome too! Also, automatic really appeals to me!! Last, extended cab would be amazing!!!!
I know what I'm about to say has nothing to do with this video. With that being said, in several of your videos you've had clogged weep holes, some from Corrosion and some from particles. To deal with the ones that are plugged with corrosion Maybe drill, tap and install a short brass or stainless orifice into the side of the pipe. One that won't go to far into the pipe. I know it will take about 20 mine at the most but may help. Pressure washer replacement tips might work?
The foot valve cannot be more than 33’ below the pump. That is the suck. After the pump to the surface is what the pump has the power to push, short stroke will push higher.

Man thank you!!!! That makes our day! We need to have a live q&a sometime soon!!!!! Thank you for sticking around!!!!!!
I love watching your videos, I now find myself looking at every windmill I drive by.
Hahaha they do that! Now you will see them everywhere!!!!!😀
I really enjoy it when you explain the technical side of the entire system (gph, well depth, mill sizing). While many only see the beauty of the mill, we can also understand their original purpose and all the mechanics.
Awesome! Thank you! Sometimes i wonder if I’m getting too deep in the weeds or not! I guess not! Thank you for watching and commenting!!!!!!!
Gotta say, with the time lapse the clouds forming and rolling make a nice back drop
Hahaha I didn’t even mean to do that!!!! Now that you mention it, I see it now!!!!😀
Nice video. You and your wife make a great team. Enjoyed the clouds in the background as you worked.
Thank you! Somebody else mentioned that, I didn’t even notice it while editing!!!!!🤣
Dang thats a big gearbox. Didn't realize just how big until y'all had it dangling there.
Yep, you should see a 16 or 20’ gearbox!!!! Crazy huge!!!!!!
Another good one. Wow that is a very large windmill. Can't wait to see the next episode. Thanks for posting Guys
Yes sir! Thank you !!!😊
Got to say that you guys make a heck of a team really love your vidios, learn a lot, growing up in Okc enjoy seeing all the places you go to.been in texas over 50 years. Thanks for what you do
Thank you for saying that! We try! Yep we also taking people back to a time when they were Okies or just passing thru! 😀
You sure have a nice Maman, what a great help she is to you.
Yes sir! She is amazing!!!!!! Thank you!
That is quite a beast to wrestle, anxious and a bit scared to see how it gets stood up.
Yep you’re gonna love it!! It goes up so well!!!!! Thank you!
Thanks for the time lapse especially when you’re talking to a customer
You’re welcome! I promise I’m trying to get better at this filmmaking stuff!!! I’m a windmill man, not a filmmaker!🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for taking the trouble to make the video. The time lapse was cool. Waiting for part 2.
Take care,
jack
Thank you Jack!!!!

Too funny, I was number 702 on the thumbs up, 100 off of this model 802, and 100 of the 12 foot 602 I am in the middle of rebuilding.
No way that’s wild! Like it’s meant to be!!! 😎

Great content guys 👏👍.
Thank you Sir!
Can't wait to see it up
It’s beautiful! Won’t be long till it loaded for yall to see!
That is a Big Boy, makes you wonder how they handled erecting one 100+ years ago. Service truck comes in handy.

Thank you!!!!!!😊
The Harrah setting sun looks like the Alex, Ok setting sun lol
Haha yep! It’s pretty out there for sure. Big sunsets for sure!!!!!! We’ve seen many Alex sunsets too. Thank you sir!
Nice job!
Thank you Sir!!!!!

You are exactly correct sir! That’s 100% our day that day! Great day tho!!!! Thank you!
Broke out the sumbrroos, huh? 👍👍😎
Haha oh yeah! The sun is relentless in that field. And it was knocking on 100 deg. Ugh!

A giant erector ! I had one as a kid and loved it. As usual,GREAT VIDEO!😁
How awesome!!! Yep I had those as a kid too!!!!!😀 Thank you for watching!!!!!
Guys nothing better than watching you right now erecting a windmill nothing because after this I’ll be watching something equally as fascinating

suggestion: when you use a phone, use landsacpe mode to stop the skinny picture... jusy sayin

won't go to far into the pipe. I know it will take about 20 mine at the most but may help.
Pressure washer replacement tips might work?
That’s a great idea. I have heard of people drilling out bigger and brazing it shut and re-drilling. All good ideas. Now just to implement it!
A pump can only lift water 33’ a pump can push water as far as you like.
Yep horizontal doesn’t count at all!
I don’t understand because I’ve seen the pump down 60 or 80 feet I thought like the 1 in that city park
The foot valve cannot be more than 33’ below the pump. That is the suck. After the pump to the surface is what the pump has the power to push, short stroke will push higher.
I think he meant actually sucking, below the pump, maybe. That I do agree with. 😀
A windmill will pump waaaaaay deeper than 30’!
