    Like most of your comments, I also had Puddin recommend you guys Channel. I like these videos where you learn something. I live in north Caddo County and have worked for an Irrigation Dealer in the past. Our stuff was 6-8" tube and up to 360 foot to the pump stages. Powered by LP and Natural gas engines. Wells here flowed 250-600 gallons. Love these Windmills. They saved the day for country folks for sure.

    I'm a subscriber, Have been watching you and your wife fix windmills for a long time, and I have a few suggestions you might think about. Use a wire brush for your drill to clean off rust from anything, and not use the file,Buy a new strap,Get some antirust spray,Get a spray can of florescent paint, spray some on your tools, it docent have to be a lot, just a little to mark your tools you won't loose them and you can identify them in your truck, When you cut or pinch yourself stop working and bandage the wound to stop any infection that might occur, Clean your truck bed and put some bins, hooks, and things that will help you to identify things you need to use. buy a lightweight tool belt with some pockets so you cary small tools and mall parts you will need when you are at the top of the windmill, this will store nuts and bolts etc. you might drop. Your Faithfull watcher. Jim Day Walla Walla, Wa.

    When I built my home I asked if I could drill a well and the engineer said sure, no problem. You just can't pump any water unless I could get water rights! There is no way short of The Lord himself coming to help that is going to happen ! Water in Utah is harder to get than gold!

    This was vastly better than the first video I watched! Sound, 100% better. Sure, it helped a lot to have Momma filming and passing tools. I prefer it if you keep then under an hour, but that's me. A wee rant on our host's comment, "Kids, go to College!" My opinion, maybe not. I went, and I kept on going through graduate school. I worked for mostly private clients, but many of my customers were governmental entities. Private or governmental, they mostly don't know a danged thing, today. If your goal in life is to be the richest person in the world, go for that, but you won't get that in college. Otherwise, you will be working for somebody and they will tell you to do exactly the wrong thing, the wrong way. By the time I would get hired, things were messed up so badly those customers would just shut up.
    I can't guarantee it, but just watch, Elon probably has Crew Dragon prepping to launch to go rescue the crew of Boeing's Starliner; I do not see how Boeing will be able to bring those people back. An option for younger people thinking about life is to go hold the camera for this guy. Do the sound, do the editing and apprentice in useful skills. Maybe just learning the camera, sound stuff is what you need. Our colleges are filled with crappy people, that will be hired by the previous generation's crappy people. Or maybe consider something like Mike Rowe Works. Only consider college if you already have a plan and you will not be allowing the people in our colleges to get in your way. Yeah, Elon will probably have to rescue the Boeing crew and Elon went to college, but go look for yourself. All of the "smartest" people insisted he needed to build with carbon fiber, or aluminum. His rockets work. Nobody else's do. Go find the interview where he explains why Falcon 9 and Starship are made with Stainless Steel, (his own alloy). Don't spend money going to college, when you can learn useful skills for free! Peace.

      I totally agree 1000% with you!!! Every word you said. When I say that, it’s in a jokingly way and usually when I’m stressed and hot and dirty and possibly bleeding. Lol. It’s an inside joke around our house because we are all the “un-colleged except for the wife. She is an RN trade, but we love what we do and couldn’t think of anything we word rather be doing, especially when we’re leaving the job site happy with what we had just accomplished. Thank you soooo much for watching and thank you for letting me know about the production being better. We’re working our tails off rounding up equipment as we can afford it. Also have the wife a microphone now so she will be able to be heard getting on to me! 😄

    This is the 2nd video I've watched. Your work is interesting because it's something many of us have never thought about. We see the windmills in the field but don't understand what makes them tick. Your narration was good on this one, and the conversation with Lori and her excellent camera work really make good viewing. I would like to hear you explain in more detail these points: what did you expect to find why this rig wasn't working? Why did you unscrew so many joints? Why are some segments so short? Am looking forward to catching up on other previous work!

  • @nick540g
    @nick540g 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Another example (if you don't mind): At 27:00 something happened (you didn't say what) that caused you to break open a pipe joint (which sprayed cold water on you). Then you moved several vice grips to different locations (you didn't say why) and you turned the pipe above (without explaining what you were looking at). So we (who don't know what is happening) are watching you fix something without knowing what you (or we) are looking for. The more you explain, the better the video! Thanks.

    • @OkieWindmiller
      @OkieWindmiller  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Man thank you! I will do much more explaining now on. This is exactly what I need to hear to get better!!!!! Thank you for watching!
      So I have a “7” shaped piece of sucker rod that is screwed into the rod that I’m removing. The “7” kept hanging up on the short tower, which wouldn’t let me unscrew it. 😀

    That is a cross arm. The holes are for locust pins. A piece of wood made out of locust wood it was a cone on the bottom to wedge into the big holes I the arm. The top of the pin was threaded for the insulator to screw onto. 1900’s tech that is still working today. I took some down a few years ago that was almost perfect but the pole got drunk and jumped out in front of a car.

    You take the time to measure the well static and depth. Do you ever write it on the well tower for
    the next time you service the well. I know it might cost under $20.00 but if tower service technician
    had a weather proof document holder attached to the well tower the owner would probably like
    the idea and might get you more calls and references for going the extra mile.
    When I had a business, I would hand business cards, Flyers, and free t shirts the t shirts were walking
    billboards and cheap advertising. Start out small, you might have a friend who can do some for you
    at a low cost and if you have a Cricket cutting machine you can make your own.

    • @OkieWindmiller
      @OkieWindmiller  29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Howdy!
      So, I don’t write the numbers anywhere other than the invoice, which I have a copy of as well as the customer.
      I think (and have been told) we go the extra mile. We just don’t see any added value with hanging anything on the windmill that is pretty much useless info for anyone other than the owner and the well company. I’m going to measure it anyway, so other that “trending” water levels, there is no reason to keep the info. In Oklahoma, we also have “mandatory” well logs that have the static levels at time of drilling and well depth, of course this is only good for wells drilled post 1990 or somewhere along in there.
      As for the advertising, we don’t advertise. Plenty of word of mouth advertising that keeps us running crazy every day. Thank you for your suggestions and for watching!

    What did i miss? Why was this pump not working? Do you service the the actual drive mechanism also when you maintain these? We had one when i was a kid long ago, i remember it fondly. Great video, the young lady does a nice job.
    Best regards from Indiana.

    • @OkieWindmiller
      @OkieWindmiller  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It was the sucker rod couplings that worn in two. That caused the no-water call. We also rebuilt the pump while we were in there! I normally do service the windmill if it’s a new one to me and don’t know the records, but this one had the oil changed by the customer 2 months ago, so we didn’t. Some people actually still climb these and do the oil changes themselves! Thank you for watching!!

    the pipe down by the pump is stretched. the threads have "necked". you are right to replace it, that things about to break right there and leave your pump down in the hole. the pipe is probably real thin on the inside.

    Question, what’s the point to pumping water nonstop to the surface?

    • @OkieWindmiller
      @OkieWindmiller  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Good question. Windmills make about 2 gallons per minute. Most won’t keep up with the usage from the stock tank, so people let the overflow to a pond or creek.

    In Australia we have trouble where the pipe meets the pump with electrolysis Wrap duct tape around the pipe for a few feet up and top off pump Problem solved All so tap the pipe where the pump rod joiner is to see how thin the pipe is and use neoprene buckets instead of leather
