This is very much NOT a villain song, but, it's Katara's fear. Fear of her own rage, fear of becoming just another killer. Fear that Bloodbending is inherently evil and that by using it, regardless of WHY, she, in turn, Is Evil. This feels like part of a story. And we see that conclusion in the episode where the confronts her mother's killer, and ends up Bloodbending the wrong guy, but spares him, and deliberately doesn't kill her mother's murderer. She doesn't forgive him. She's never going to forgive him. But she is not a monster. She is more than her trauma. And, even if out of sheer spite, seeing this man brought so low, she intends to rise and be BETTER.
Yeah I don’t get why people dislike Katara so much for her trauma on losing her mom like I get it can be annoying when she constantly brings up her mom but like that event really shaped her present self and her drive so I get it.

This song perfectly shows the duality of us all. Our anger our addictions our struggles. A war waging daily within us all. Fighting against ourselves in a never ending battle. The truth is both sides represent us as a whole. We can all heal from the pain that’s been done to us with time.
If you think about it, what must have really deeply affected Katara wasn’t just simply mastering blood bending, but learning that such a dark, demonic skill actually existed within water bending. Her whole life she loved water bending and cursed fire bending, never knowing she was practically capable of much worse. I mean, it’s one thing to burn someone, but to tear their muscles & organs apart, fix them and tear apart them again, not to mention being able to make people hurt or kill others against their will?
I mean, she had a slight grasp of bloodbending with the healing spells related to water, the thing is that she was too innocent to know it... yet (yeah, in TLAB there are not "spells", but I don't have other way to call them).

An excellent song that perfectly fits with Katara's character. The way the video ends with Katara walking away with a tense look after seemingly putting her demons at bay is especially fitting, considering she'd later fight those same demons again once the opportunity to kill her mother's murderer presented itself to her.

This is so true , she kill herself for powers of the water , but never use righteous , full of ego above powers that forget even her indentity. So sad but very truth ❤ amazing lyrics , gratefull to you 🙌
This is already by far one of my favorite songs on youtube. Edit: I just realized why this stands out among her villain songs, she knows she's becoming the villain, and despite everything she can't stop it.
oh my god this song is AMAZING! it really puts into perspective what katara must've been feeling when she learned bloodbending. i couldn't have asked for a better song for my favorite character 🥰
OML I just relized something if you look at 3:24-3:31 you see that both Katara’s in a way swapped personality’s for a moment! Katara is trying to kill blood bending Katara with anger on her face while Bloodbending Katara is trying to stop her.😦 Ngl this video is awesome!😎
I'm used to all the villain songs, but I love this song too. Great work. I'm looking forward to what else you release in the future. In the meantime, I'll have this song playing on repeat. I think it's a perfect way of portraying how Katara feels about bloodbending.
I have to admit that I always thought of Katara as one of the strongest members of the gaang. I myself have always placed her as just below Azula (or just above with bloodbending). The one thing that hides this is that Toph is so combative and that Zuko is much more at home in a fight.
i have probably watched this almost 10 times already in the 2 days its been, this is amazing. this is making me want to see a what if story of katara going bad and giving into vengeance, like not holding back on her moms killer.
The animatic is AMAZING, it fits so well with the emotion of your voice and the story it tells was so enticing. This is such a powerful song, but also sad at the same time
Katara was deeply afraid of what she would become when she learned to blood bend. Power often corrupts unless tampered with humility and humanity. Everyone has to face their inner demons in their life. Bravo! Miraculous singing! Katara is beautiful, strong, smart, and incredibly resilient! 💪💦🌊🤩😍💕⭐👍
Another amazing song! Something I would love to see in the future is a Queen Poppy from Trolls as she is the most positive character and I think you would kill it with turning a cheery song into a villain song maybe something upbeat as well!, especially with the backstory of the Trolls being eaten.
The feeling I'm getting from this song is that she fears the new power she learned because of the damage it can do to someone. This is similar to what Aang had to battle with when it came to fire the difference is instead of burning people you could twist their limbs or cause their entire cardiovascular system to self destruct on itself. Towards the end she learns to accept herself and the new power.
Ok, this could represent the one hero npcs inner conflict with their inner darkness after the encounter with the blood bending witch in ATLA canon lore, though it’s all in their mind, just saying is all!?!? Also if anyone read the fan series “ distorted reality “ this could represent the dark alternate temporarily fighting their good alternate universe variant of themselves, also if you take that series into consideration as well…
This is one of my fav avatar episode so getting to see a song for Katara when she learns blood bending is amazing ❤ Seeing her struggle with the fact that she has this terrifying power turned and it’s into a beautiful song

You deserve all the likes and views this video is getting!!!! I love your voice, it's just so melodic. Keep the great work up I seriously can't wait to see what else you do 😍😍😍
Love the details of their contrasting outfits, the corrupted Katara has sharper angles in her outfit while the regular Katara has more curved lines in her outfit.
I'm in love with your voice!! This is a perfect song that describes her fear (both of herself and of not doing enough to fight) and rage (y'know) combined. Idk if it was intentional or not, but I loved the parallel between Inner/Scary Katara and regular Katara and Inner/Scary Korra and regular Korra, both became what they needed to be to survive and both are terrified of that version of themselves and what they're capable of. Great song and great video!!
Dude... the fucking chills I get when I hear the build-up to the first time Katara quotes the title... Holy. You could tell where the song was going and it was spine-chilling seeing her face that side of herself. Asking herself "What have I become?"
This was an amazing song 😍 i loved every minute of it. I know its supposed to be a villain song but its so good and in my opinion fits thr narrative of the last season very well. You got to see her be moody and hold a huge grudge against Zuko when everyone else accepted him. And than just how angry and how far she was willing to go to find her mothers killer to the point where she used blood bending. A power she swore she would never use. Just chef kisses perfect song.
You should do all the characters Mai ( she felt betrayed by Zuko for leaving her) Ty Lee ( she was tired of being a look alike to all her sisters and now she looked exactly like the Kyoshi warriors) these would be such fun songs! You are such a great song writer I know you could do it! Oh and of course Azula!
Wow! Randomly discovered the holding out for a hero but it's epic and loved it, but this... This seals the deal! What an amazing work, I'm happily subbed now!
I absolutely loved this! The power struggle between her desire to protect and her rage within, it's all so beautifully done. Your vocals, the animation, the music, amazing work all around :D
This is the most beautiful masterpiece I've seen this year🔥🔥 holy that art style and the lyrics are wonderful. Lil' Katara and Lil' Sokka are so adorable 😍
This is beautiful it captures her fear of her rage it dove into something that should have been in more detail animation is chef kiss the song is also amazing so everything is amazing great job.
This is definitely the closest description of katara's trauma and her refusal to master blood bending. As if blood bending were bad which later proves to be an issue as Korra had to learn about blood bending almost how katara did. Kya and others could have the potential but since they never practiced blood bending they would have no way to know unless they choose to try now. It's beautiful how sometimes we'll shut down certain things, skills... Because of different reasons and it ends up having interesting consequences. Watching katara interact with blood bending vs korra was beautiful.

Such a beautifully powerful song, befitting an emotionally conflicted character like herself. This impressive animation went so well with your angelic voice! eager to see what's next in store for our favorite bard! 💙🎙
Lydia, you have perfectly captured something I have struggled to put into words for a long time. I cannot thank you enough for making this song. You reminded me of all of my hard work towards being a better person. Thank you from the bottom of my still-healing heart ❤️🩹
Katara is trying to kill blood bending Katara with anger on her face while Bloodbending Katara is trying to stop her.😦
Ngl this video is awesome!😎
And then when she gets out of the water, she seems normal, until the last panel where her expression changed anf she looks like blood bending Katara.
@@FrozenJedi38 these details😃🤩!
This was pure genius! The lyrics, the animatic, everything!!! Some of your best work. Thank you so much!
That look on her face in the last few frames... foreshadowing?
I'm used to all the villain songs, but I love this song too. Great work. I'm looking forward to what else you release in the future. In the meantime, I'll have this song playing on repeat. I think it's a perfect way of portraying how Katara feels about bloodbending.
I have to admit that I always thought of Katara as one of the strongest members of the gaang. I myself have always placed her as just below Azula (or just above with bloodbending). The one thing that hides this is that Toph is so combative and that Zuko is much more at home in a fight.
Well it makes sense, bith toph and zuko have been training and fighting since little
@@nicolas._.2294 Yes I like pointing out one of the few times we see Katara fighting all-out in Ba-Sing-se(?) where she does beat Azula one on one.
@@nicolas._.2294Toph was already a professional fighter when she met the team so she has possibly the most fighting experience.
I was just watching this episode yesterday and I come across this perfect timing
edit: I'm re watching the song again because its sooooo goooood
i have probably watched this almost 10 times already in the 2 days its been, this is amazing. this is making me want to see a what if story of katara going bad and giving into vengeance, like not holding back on her moms killer.
Katara is so beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤❤💚💚💜💚💚💜💚💜💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💜💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
I know I love her so much!! She's my favorite
I know this is Katara's song, but if you've read Kyoshi's novels, this song could definitely fit her too! It's so good!
This is an amazing take on Katara struggling with her inner demons only to be drowned by the monster she has become. 0w0
There's got to be a part 2 to this, the way it ends feels like it needs it
The way it ended was like a cliffhanger, and I feel like there's going to be a part 2 sooner or later
Yeah I agree with you
The feeling I'm getting from this song is that she fears the new power she learned because of the damage it can do to someone. This is similar to what Aang had to battle with when it came to fire the difference is instead of burning people you could twist their limbs or cause their entire cardiovascular system to self destruct on itself.
Towards the end she learns to accept herself and the new power.
Reminds me of Korra and her PTSD arc, Katara did help her a lot with it and something like this would make sense for her to go through too
Ok, this could represent the one hero npcs inner conflict with their inner darkness after the encounter with the blood bending witch in ATLA canon lore, though it’s all in their mind, just saying is all!?!?
Also if anyone read the fan series “ distorted reality “ this could represent the dark alternate temporarily fighting their good alternate universe variant of themselves, also if you take that series into consideration as well…
God, I was like JUST rewatching ATLA compilation clips this whole day and decided to finally check the notification AND SAW THIS
Chills, literal chills...
Damn this hits HARD. "Will it drown me too?” Shiiiiiiit. Great stuff Lydia
Can we just talk about how powerful this song is?
Yes
This is one of my fav avatar episode so getting to see a song for Katara when she learns blood bending is amazing ❤ Seeing her struggle with the fact that she has this terrifying power turned and it’s into a beautiful song
Holy crap I was not expecting to see this in my recommendations, now that I think of it, I wonder if katara had semi consistent nightmares about her bloodbending abilities after The Puppetmaster
at the end when we saw katara's face you can tell her evil self took control
This song took my soul away, turned it inside out and brought it back. I'm shocked. It's very beautiful
WOW, AMAZING! I love Katara and you captured her character perfectly!
I like how she reached the surface, no matter what, Katara is not someone who let fear drag her down, amazing song Lydia 💖
Hi miss Lydia! Spring has sprung and now ur here!😊🌺 It's gonna make spring so lovely 😊🌺🌼🌸
Here have a snack! U deserve it after All u do for us fans😊🍩🍨🍭
Okay but seriously what're the odds that I just fell back into my Azula era and here's an atla song?
I don't personally like Avatar too much, It wasn't something I watched through, but this!? This IS AMAZING. This makes me almost want to try watching it again. You deserve all the likes and views this video is getting!!!! I love your voice, it's just so melodic. Keep the great work up I seriously can't wait to see what else you do 😍😍😍
I'd love to a reprise after the southern raiders. Zuko would totally reassure her she's still a good person 😊
By far, my favorite of your songs that I've listened to. A master work of vocals.
This so expertly portrays Katara’s struggles. ❤
Dude... the fucking chills I get when I hear the build-up to the first time Katara quotes the title...
This is going to break my replay button… again
Wow! Randomly discovered the holding out for a hero but it's epic and loved it, but this... This seals the deal! What an amazing work, I'm happily subbed now!
Amazing song(cover) and animatic! Katara facing her inner darkness…would’ve loved to see it happen in the show.🌙🌊🩸🎶
I absolutely loved this! The power struggle between her desire to protect and her rage within, it's all so beautifully done. Your vocals, the animation, the music, amazing work all around :D
OMGYES YES YES THIS WILL BE SOOOO GOOOOD
YASSS
FRRR
WOW, amazing once again Lydia. Now I demand a song for every ATLA character 💕
This is the most beautiful masterpiece I've seen this year🔥🔥 holy that art style and the lyrics are wonderful.
Lil' Katara and Lil' Sokka are so adorable 😍
Well, you know what they say: Blood is thicker than water.
This is not a villain song, but about Katara's fear that her anger will turn her into a monster
I love that her going down in the water, she’s dragged down, and the darker version of herself takes control of her.
i only started watching ATLA becaus of this so g. im five episodes in and obsessed
thanks lydia!
