First time diving in Spain - World Spearfishing Championship

- In the beginning of September, the world spearfishing championship were hosted in Spain, and I was representing Norway.
We had a couple of days with scouting before the competition, but the conditions shifted to the extend that we had to relearn pretty much everything. Also I've never dived south of Norway before, definitely not an advantage.
Still, competitions like this is a great way to gather new insights in the sport, and meet old and new friends. Had an absolute blast, and its a memory I'll think of for years to come.

Definitely not, which made the silver from NZ and bronze for Tahiti incredible to witness! Gonna have to take the hole hunting with me this winter in Norway, ling is too good to only catch once a year;)

Thanks! Just saw that you posted an hour before me, excited to see your perspective! I qualified for the team again, but not sure if there will be an European Championship next summer. We’ll see!:)

@@AkselOrstavik indudablemente, pero seguro que Santi pescó con un 90 o 80, salvo que vayas exclusivamente a dentones o corvinas, los 80-90 son los más polivalentes y prácticos en esas aguas

Hehe ja det var ikke lett! Gikk greit frem til sikten ble god, da ble det tydelig hvor bortskjemte vi er i Norge😅 Men, det er noe av gleden med disse konkurransene, lærer en hel masse!
Where did you get those orange hard bags for the equipment? What are they called?
It’s called Sporttube, they’re amazing for diving gear. Got it from Frivannsliv in Norway, but I think you have to buy from the brand itself from the states

Gopro 9 med undervannshus:) kan fås ganske rimelig på Finn! Klokka er en Garmin Descent Mk2s, kombinert dykke- og sportsklokke som jeg svidde av dimmepengene på noen år tilbake:)

Thanks man! Yeah I’d have conflicting feelings taking octopus I think, but on the other hand they’re very good. To each their own, as long as it’s sustainable

Thanks! For me, everything that has a shape somewhat like a dentex must be a dentex. Same with the fish I missed at the pier the second day. Seen Daniel Manns struggle for to long, so it imprinted on my brain😅

Thanks! I use a Sporttube size 2, absolutely love it. Daniel Mann has a proper video on how to park it, recommend giving it a watch to see it better:)

Unfortunately the Mediterranean sea is overfished.
Yeah, but this was in the Bay of Biscay. Fish in this area, I just wasn’t skilled enough to catch any😅
You need to find a better place to spearfish like the south Pacific
Its on the bucket list for sure! Have any experience with it?
