Wow! I can feel through this video the passion and dedication that goes into keeping the magnificent garden as beautiful and vibrant as it is! Thanks for sharing ❤❤❤
You’re welcome and yes it takes true passion and dedication to build a private garden to this standard. They have done a great job. Might be worth looking at another video on my channel called Oak Barn Exotic garden. It is also a very high standard. Cheers.
Absolutely stunning garden ! All the Ensete are beautiful specimens. The Dicsonia looking so healthy. All my respect for creating this exotic paradise ! .
Anytime I think I've got a resasonably good looking exotic garden I come back to Tiki Tropicals and realise I've got so much to learn. It's beautiful, inspirational and uplifting. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Very nice, one of my favourite private gardens I’ve seen photos of on FB and it was great to see a video tour thanks. I’d love to visit myself one day, the Ensete and Agave americana are especially stunning 😃
Great video. I actually work with simon and after visiting his, it inspired me to create my own tropical style garden. It’s not quite on his scale though. He is wealth of knowledge and really knows his stuff. You only have to walk around his garden to realise this time and effort he puts in to make to all come to life each year. Best garden I have ever visited
Hi Scott. Yeah the garden is top draw. We had a long chat about his garden and all things tropical. It was nice to talk to someone as passionate about this type of gardening as me.
I can just imagine him on Halloween night before the 1st surprise frost digging like a madman with lights at night for all those tender tropicals. I know my neighbors all think I'm nuts.
I don’t know about him but I’ve had to do that many times in my garden. Throwing blankets and coats over plants I can’t dig up in time. The joys of tropical gardening in a cold wet climate. Cheers
Well I never. Had to watch 3 times and I am soooooo jealous. The plants look so healthy. I have seen other Brugs in the ground but not done it myself. I think it's too cold and breezy at mine. But when front garden is done they can go there as more sheltered but full sun.
3 times. You must have liked it. I’ve seen a couple of private gardens now where the Brugs are planted for summer. They do so much better. Something I’m going to try. Cheers.
Beautiful garden such inspiration,I'm just starting a tropical garden in a very small garden about 20ft by 30ft triangle wedge shape ,I have my first three plants in huge pots , elephant ear, Fatsia Japonica and a tree fern ,would you suggest I place them at the triangle point as focal point and build around from there .I have Astros turf but want to replace that for either real grass circle in centre or patio or shingle what do u think any advice be grateful Ty .
Hi and thank you. Fatsia and tree ferns do best in shadier locations so take that into consideration where as Elephant Ears which I assume are Colocasias prefer much more sun. My own garden which is shown on my channel has a circular lawn. It’s good to get the shape you want first then plant in the spaces that suit the Best conditions for the individual plants. Cheers
Thank you. I’m not sure of the size of the garden. I will try to find out for you. Hopefully I can visit again in the future and I can see if he has and photos of how the garden used to look. If you like this garden I have just filmed another amazing private garden called Oak Barn Exotic Garden on my channel.
I love it. Do you know what are the garden's measurements? I just bought a plot of land of 10 x 50 m. This wonderful garden is how I would like my garden to be in the future. I was curious as to the width of it. Greetings from Brasil.
Hi Marcia. I don’t know the measurements but I would say it is very similar to yours. It is about 8-10 metres wide and probably about 50 metres in length. You must be able to grow some truly tropical plants in Brazil. Thank you for watching.
Thank you. With Colocasia first you need to select a variety that grows bigger leaves the during the warmer summer months they need to water and feed well. In the U.K. it helps to start them off in March in a frost free greenhouse to give them a longer growing season.
Hi. No Ensete Ventricosum is the green form of Ensete Maurelii. Simon says his needs to be kept going over winter where he can dry store the Maurelii. The green form is a bit more tender. Hiniba seems to be more like Ensete Montbeliardii I think.
The frustrating thing is where I live in Somerset there are probably only on average 10/15 days a year that would damage most plants like lemons bananas, etc I have had an Oleander in my front garden for 15 years now and my Geraniums survive 9 times out of ten outside even my Begonias survive most years you just can't trust our climate just when you think it's OK we will get a short cold spell. I have probably only seen a half dozen days when snow has lasted more than a day in over 10 years.
Hi. Yes it may be frustrating but it sounds like you have a better climate than most of the U.K so you should be able to grow a wider range of plants than lots of other gardens. The garden in this video has seen many a cold night but has still evolved to look amazing through the summer months. In the UK we just have to learn what we can or can’t get away with and I agree it’s often frustrating. Cheers
It's great when you grow something that others say oh that won't grow here, I'm constantly surprised by what you can, there are some lovely big palm trees on the front at WSM and I know someone in the village with banana trees that had fruit on them last summer, I'm going to try Bird of paradise this year, wish me luck. @@tikitropicals65
Zone 8 but in the U.K. winters tend to be much wetter and summers don’t usually get very warm compared to the USA. That’s why lots of these plants are quite challenging.
Be still my heart. Love this tropical haven.

Absolute beauty of a garden, whats the rough size of it and has any pics of what it was like before he started?

Superb garden. How did you make Colocasia Esculanta grow that big?
Thank you. With Colocasia first you need to select a variety that grows bigger leaves the during the warmer summer months they need to water and feed well. In the U.K. it helps to start them off in March in a frost free greenhouse to give them a longer growing season.
😮😮😮😮
Thank you
Great garden! I wonder whether you get ticks walking in gardens like this in the tropical areas? It would be perfect without them.
Thank you. No Ticks as far as I’m aware.
I never new the Ricinus was called New Zealand purple. In Florida we just call it caster oil plant it just grows wild on the side of the road .
Hi. New Zealand Purple doesn’t refer to all Ricinus it’s just this colour variation with the purple looking leaves.
@@tikitropicals65 here I see the deep red/purple like the one in video and I see green . It’s just interesting on the name that all cool to know .
How are you caring for your tree fens?..as they are amazing!..
With tree ferns they need plenty of watering in the summer months if you are in a dry location. They also do better in a shady location.
Are ensete ventricosum and ensete hiniba the same plant? Great video and garden!
Hi. No Ensete Ventricosum is the green form of Ensete Maurelii. Simon says his needs to be kept going over winter where he can dry store the Maurelii. The green form is a bit more tender. Hiniba seems to be more like Ensete Montbeliardii I think.
What a dream garden ! What part of the uk is this ?
Hi. It’s in Northamptonshire
Wow to get that look I assumed the south coast !
No. It’s kind of in the middle of England. It’s a long way from any coast to be honest.
The frustrating thing is where I live in Somerset there are probably only on average 10/15 days a year that would damage most plants like lemons bananas, etc I have had an Oleander in my front garden for 15 years now and my Geraniums survive 9 times out of ten outside even my Begonias survive most years you just can't trust our climate just when you think it's OK we will get a short cold spell. what is the surface area of this beautiful garden?
Hi honestly I can’t remember the size. If I was to guess from my visit I would say 12 metres wide by about 40 metres long.
Great garden but winter time would be barren
Thank you. Lots of tender plants are used to give this garden a wow factor but it does also quite a lot of evergreens for some winter interest.
Where is this garden? I must visit.
It’s a private garden in Northamptonshire U.K.
These plants can survive Euro winter ???
Some plants yes. Some plants need to be brought inside or protected.
I’m torn, not sure wether to be inspired or just give up gardening all together.
Probably best to be inspired. Even I left thinking I need to work harder on my garden.
What grow zone?
Zone 8 but in the U.K. winters tend to be much wetter and summers don’t usually get very warm compared to the USA. That’s why lots of these plants are quite challenging.
Beautiful
