I had this for the Dreamcast and convinced myself it was "fun." I played it soo much that when I rage quit the game forever, I went back to Tony Hawk 2 and I'm not even kidding.... I couldn't play THPS2. MTV Skate had broken me and it was like I had never held a game controller before. I was so use to the awkward MTV Skateboarding controls, I had to learn how to play all over again. Also, cool channel! I owned most of the late 90's / early 2000's skateboarding games including the good ones and the not soo good ones. Grind Session, Street Sk8er & Street Sk8er 2, MTV Skateboarding, Espn X games Skateboarding... all that junk. Fun was had though. Thrasher Skate and Destroy was my favorite until EA's Skate games came out.

You just couldn't match the realism. Even Skate lets you do much more unrealistic stuff. I'm definitely going to have to cover it. But these days, the load times are just insane compared to what we're used to.
lol "traumatized" is the perfect description for what happened. Had to reprogram the brain with a good game. Thrasher was a lot of fun. Doing combos actually took effort and grinding had some weight to it as the player needed speed to grind across a ledge. It's been a while since I've played it but I seem to recall that if you fell too much the board would break? Maybe? And pressing a button to land was one of my favorite aspects because even a simple kickflip down some stairs took concentration and some skill. The old school soundtrack was great. At the end of a run, the police or dogs or hobos or whatever would chase until you skated to the exit. Soo good. EA's Skate series is pretty great. I still play the 3rd game every now and then. Turning up the difficulty sometimes reminds me of Thrasher and makes the game difficult to play... sometimes in a not so good way. Disappointed they made Skate 3 have 3 levels instead of 1 city. And they took out the security guard parts which I enjoyed a lot in Skate 2. I would love a Skate 4 but I'm pretty sure the studio that did the Skate games is gone. Thanks EA!!

So something like a bigspin flip fakie nosegrind was actually really hard. I don't remember if your board would break or not... I haven't played it through in a while.

I'm new here so I've been going through all your older videos. I had this game as a kid after asking for THPS, my mom brought me this. We were pretty poor so I get why she got me this. I hated how hard it was after playing THPS at a friends house. THPS was so much easier to play! BUT, after getting the hangof it, I fell in love with this game. It gets so much better the more you play it believe it or not.

I played and clocked this in 2003. What i remember about it was how frustrating the last level was and thinking i would never have to play it again after I finished it.

The MTV Sports collection was a great punk rock music collection, that's it. Probably the best, beating even tony hawk. All the games sucked ass so I just had them in my car, I had all 3 games. They were selling for less than 6$ at my local games store.

from everything the video shows, the pc version was a lot better. but ultimately suffered from similar problems of just needing to do a bunch of points on vert to get through.
I think this game was okay. The soundtrack was great (e.g. Cypress Hill - Rock Superstar) and the air tricks were exciting. Also the graphics were pretty nice - on PC they looked way better than on PlayStation (as in this video). The game featured a career mode, too, if I remember correctly. Biggest cons were the awkward animations and the sort of weird controls.

@American Idiot Fan 2019 Productions I don't know. There's one major flaw in the gameplay but other than that the levels aren't bad and it has a soundtrack that isn't bad either. The controller delay makes the game nearly unplayable and frustrating.. I do believe there were good intentions though. Also the amount of unique tricks shows that they did care at least a little bit. I blame the testers.
I remember playing this when I was a lot younger. Great soundtrack, fairly fun game if you can figure out the controls, but even then it's a bit fiddly and not as fleshed out as other skateboarding games.

Stunt mode was awsome even my dad could play it and he is shit at skateboarding games. Many hours of fun
