My mom says thanks:)
Allow me to introduce myself 🦍
Incredibly under appreciated comment 😂.
Her lawn's a little long if you know what I mean #pmme
Staceyyy! Love you girl and your music!!!
I am really digging lawrence. They both have such unique voices that I think are fantastic. Their musical chops are impressive too. Thanks Ryan for introducing be to these guys and bringing them back.
What he said. :)
If you get a chance to see them live... do it. One of the fun live shows I've seen.
I've been a fan for the last year or two. Glad more people are hearing of them!
@dalejones4322 - make sure you check out Lawrence’s brand new single, “Guy I used to be”, out yesterday!!
@@commenter5600 thanks so much for that. I just watched and it was goo goo goo great. They have so much talent
How's everyone not talking about the sock puppet at 2:34? And the fact that he's ripping that xylaphone solo left handed. Incredible!
That part was legit
It was sweet but that's a bell set or glockenspiel not a xylophone. 🙂
I literally saw that and then looked in the comments to see who else did. Hahahaha
When I read "ripping that solo" on a xylaphone, I actually laughed out loud.
This production has an immaculate Walk Off The Earth on Muscle Relaxers vibe.
We get to hear Ryan sing! (And another great performance from Lawrence!)
Dude, my first thought- Wait, Ryan finally sings on a Stories? Love Lawrence, just so not used to Ryan doing anything other than being in the background.
Also my first reaction! I don’t think I’ve ever seen Ryan sing before. And there are a few moments when it looks like he is holding back a laugh! They all just look like they’re having the time of their lives! Super fun!
@@seamusmcfreak Check out Ryan's solo work! He's the real deal
“Not used to Ryan doing anything other than being in the background” …the disrespect to his guitar playing! Lol
Fountains of Wayne were amazing. So many great power pop tunes. A tragedy that we lost Adam Schlesinger during the pandemic. Great homage here by Clyde and Gracie. Much respect for the talent and the musical sensibility 🎶🙏
Suddenly Stacy's Mom walks through fields of tall grass...a meadow of sorts..wind blowing hair and her long dress..her hat flys off and with those sublime harmonies and vocal runs..she Mosdef stripped down and has it going on!!! In one word this was "OUTFUCKINGSTANDING!" loved it as much as the original & the punk version! Great job all! ✌😎🎸
Clyde's voice on this is FREAKING PERFECT!!!!! Shout out to Gracie killing it as always too :)
Lawrence just can't miss. They nail it every time! 2nd time on stories in 2 months and good reason for that. Great collaboration!
We need to start an online petition - who was the sock puppet?! (2:36) They just about put poor Ryan over the edge, he’s straining not to laugh. Somehow I gotta think it was Jack….?
This cover is mad fun. Fountains of Wayne was one of those bands that could turn out pop hooks like they had a crank-operated machine. Savagely underrated. RIP, Adam Schlesinger.
Loving the Adam Schlesinger tributes from Lawrence. On an unrelated note - my wife and I danced to Do You Wanna Do Nothing With Me at our wedding in 2018... little did we know how relevant that song would become to our lives since 2020. Thanks for always coming through with the jams, Clyde and Gracie!
That's one of the most flawless things I've ever heard
Lawrence! Damn, these kids are stellar!
their latest album is a real discovery for me, very cool tracks, amazing production, beautiful arrangements, wonderful voices, now this! thank you!
Like most people, I woke up needing a cover of this song. I got what I needed from these guys. Thanks heaps guys
Love this song. So I was pumped. Then I saw the xylophone and my pumpedness tripled.
My favourite band from my teen years meets my favourite band now!
2:36 that hand 😂😂😂
What fun. Gracie, I hope this doesn't offend in any way, some artists don't like being compared with others, but you give this an early career Cyndi Lauper vibe. Absolutely Love it.
My sister will blast this song three times in a row for days on end, then it will disappear for months, then it will come back full force, three times in a row for days on end. I love this song. It sounds like home.
Can't get enough of this group!
This was incredibly satisying to listen to as a 90's kid.
I love Lawrence and I love stories! HUGE collab!
Ditto! Exactly!
Ryan joining in on harmonies was such a nice surprise.
That was soo good. They are so talented and my god that voice Gracie has is crystal.
I love the intense facial expressions in this performance. Very serious lyrics.
This cover brings me *so* much joy, but none more than 2:19-2:37. Everyone is just jamming out and having so much fun. And there's a sock puppet. Even Gracie is just mouthing along with random syllables, doing a little dance and it's just so wholesome to watch.
Great! Someone thought of a cover, well done guys, love it.
Stories x Lawrence 💪🏼
Lawrence also looks like that British guy from The I.T. Crowd 😆
My 3 favorite musicians together. Let's celebrate this!
I never thought i needed this. Lawrence singin my fave played song in hs. Thank you
Love this arrangement and trio. Wow. Superb.
Jesus, sometimes it overwhelms me just how much I miss Adam. What a genius.
Lawrence are incredible, and great job Ryan
Lawrence!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Great song! Also remembering Adam Schlesinger, Rest in Peace sir.
Best stories in a while
fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Lawrence and stories!!
this needs more views. honestly
lol I have come back to this like everyday since I have found it.
Only such gifted musicians can make a deeply perverse song sound emotionally meaningful and create such goosebumps. Lol gorgeous.
you guys are so inspiring, you're really killing it!! such a joy to listen to always
Oh man, this brings me back! Amazing laid back cover!
Played at 1.25x speed it really sounds cool.
I like it better at 1.25x
Great performance! That is one sweet life Ryan is living.
So incredibly dope!
This can live rent free in my mind. So good! 🤩
u guys made that song sounds so innocent
Great job guys. Love this.
2:33 "damn that's one cool sock ... yes sock?"
Amazing job! A perfect rendition
One of my favorite groups on one of my favorite channels 🤩
seriously my facvourite cover ever, i always come back to it
Loved the original back then and your version made me sing along instantly. Great work!
What a great arrangement and performance!
This is..wonderful. Wonderful.
Lawrence are both amazing vox god/goddess... Awesome cover of Stacys mom . But Clyde totally had me in fits with his facials on that glok . It was like the "starting slow clapper" in every movie . The "my moment to shine" face hahaha . I get that face when swapping from guitar to drums lol
Crushed this! ❤🫡⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A 90's classic covered by 2 wonderful voices :)
Stacy's mom is from early 2000's
@@etriganthedemon666 it is indeed. Just feels like a 90's song.
@@mike9512 I can agree with that
@@etriganthedemon666 But also, 90's in the best way possible??? A 30 something Rachel Hunter doing a poll dance for a 13 year old kid. Wouldn't get that shit made now.
@@mike9512 we as a watcher might think of that, but I think the scene were shot differently, I really don't know, just my guess
GENIUS. What a sound
I'd like to give a thousand thumps up!
Love me some Lawrence. Nice job on BGV's Ryan.
Goose bumps
These guys are great! Also the main singer has a Steve Winwood kind of voice and I dig it!
It's nice to listen to and watch. I just felt good. Thank you for this implementation. Revelation!
Good job Ryan!!! Thank you for delivering these contents!
absolutely wicked xylophone solo
Always a guilty pleasure, this song.
So cool. I love this chicks voice
What an absolutely joyful performance! Good work all hands, this one makes me feel so good!
i love this so much!
Hell yes. This is nice.
2:46 Gracie just killing it yet again
Crazy! Was listening to it yesterday
Best version
Yes please! I mean wow this is top tier content. Is the xylophone to Stories as the talk box (tube) is to Scary Pockets...? I think sooooooo.
That's so cool!
GREAT!!!
These two voices fit so well
Edit: and Ryan obvs lol
Ryan is bringing out the guns on this one. Dayum
Great vocals!
Love Lawrence!
Awesome.
This is awesome. Glockenspeil rules!
Shit that was awesommmmeeee! Vocals killed! Well, everything was amazing
AMAZING
gracie stacie whatever !! you've got it going on !!!!
Brilliant.
Clyde really locked in on the glockenspiel
spectacular
And who steadied the guitar during the xylophone solo?
It was the Steady Turkey, obviously. :)
the literal unsung hero!
What is the sock puppet?
This is really an appropriate cover for this band - their own originals show a style of pop craft that's not at all dissimilar to Adam Schlesinger's.
Wtf... Ryan is signing? I needed that...
Awesome :)
Awesome
The sock puppet assist, tho!
The time stamp you're looking for: 2:36
Anyone else see the xylophone on Gracie's lap and think she might be the one to play it? Lol
Decent "cover" of this song with what you have got :-)
Oh hey, it's Ryan :D
