Solid gold once again, we definitely started working on hlp and got some bat speed and it was amazing but the pops and chops are all over the place. Trying to get the ball up off the ground and I see now where a little extra work keeping behind the back leg helps the swing become more vertical. Awesome we'll be working on the tea with some of your pointers here to further refine.
Aj proving once more his HLP content is unmatched. One question is do you ever coach posture? I’ve seen some videos elsewhere talking about getting into good posture but I wonder if that’s not a reach if one is coiling on one leg correctly.
@@TGJS22 Look into Matt Antenolli, he is in Middleton, MA. (www.youtube.com/@AntonelliBaseball) His swing teaching is very similar to this if not the same but his wording is different. When I started looking at different hitting stuff for my son, Matt was the first I saw teaching "turn the barrel" method.
Great video can you do a little toe tap instead of the leg leaving the ground like it shows in the video. A example of this would be like Barry Bonds does with his toe tap.
yesah man- there is so much good info in this video. As a senior who has just returned to the game after almost 3 decades off, this drills are awesome. BTW- what tee are you guys using? Ive seen this before on other videos but can never find it online to purchase one.
I’ve been working on HLP for a handful of months now and I’m continually trying to find the balance with the front foot. Does it act like any kind of a block to finish the swing? I find I easily spin off the ball when I’m trying to stay coiled so firmly.
I guess the question can you get in the same coiled, up the back position with a toe tap. Othe then Barry Bonds are there any other examples of people who toe tap and are believers in HLP?
@@optimalpowerperformance Copy. 12 year old travel player with a good swing but wants to get even better. Does a decent job of staying rear legged at this point.
@@optimalpowerperformanceplenty of content out there that shows what I’m saying. Might want to do some more research. Hitters get into different positions to hit. There’s no ONE way.
@theswingman2hit A lot of people say that nobody supinates the wrist until they watch slow motion footage and see the short few frames where the back of the top hand is actually facing the ball just before contact and right before it articulates into knuckles towards ball into impact. Also, what does "get to 50/50" mean? It's less about where they get to and more about where the swing is launched from. I can tell you this, nobody that is good launches the swing from a forward center of gravity. Not even a 50/50. The swing will thrust weight into the front foot but it came from the back. Similar to pitching. How balanced the weight is between feet after the ball has been hit is less important. I will agree that many great hitters have had a more vertical spine angle (as viewed from the side) during the swing, but they still started with a rearward COG at launch.
This is the best HLP video so far, and there have been a ton of good ones.
@@stannelson4414 thank you!!
Lovin it...using this with my senior slow pitch....works!!! Many thanks

Yes Sir, also using this in my Slow pitch. Blessing for sharing this content.
Great video putting it all together!
This video has very detailed information about HLP. I'll try to practice these drills. Thanks.

Wow thank you so much. I was literally working on your drills and watching your videos an hour ago and this video is exactly what I needed.
Happy to help!
@@optimalpowerperformance do you know any HLP instructors in the northeast? Specifically Connecticut
@@TGJS22 I do not unfortunately. There is really only a handful of us and we all know each other.

Very true!

The stretch going up the back...could you also say to bring your front should down and in? I have heard it described that way during the coil...

Is this a swing that can be taught to a young hitter say 8-10 years old? Or would this be too difficult at that age
Yes. Just dumb it down. External cues and make it fun.
Do you sit down in the hip at all after rotating around on it?

This may be a dumb question but should we taking full swings during each drill or just feeling the coil?

There are elite hitters in the big leagues who get to a 50/50 position who don’t snap their wrist/barrel. There’s no one way to hit.
