That’s great news! Hopefully if the m43 version of the s9 or the gx10 or whatever it will be called comes soon, we’ll have afc on a compact m43 body with one of my favourite lenses for the system. 🤞🤞🤞
Thx for this. The G9M2 may well be designed to provide the maximum electronic oomph into this lens compared to earlier Panasonic bodies. I have a G9M2 as well as the 20mm F/1.7 but haven't gotten around to trying them together yet. The 20mm usually sits on one of my more street-friendly smaller Olympus bodies. A redesign of the lens using voice-coil linear motors instead of the stepper motor I assume is used now would speed up the focusing, but possibly at the cost of a larger lens as well at the cost of, well, cost.
You’re welcome. I bought the 20mm back when I had GX85s and it’s the perfect lens on those bodies. I haven’t used it much since, but I frequently have it in my bag if I need a faster lens than the f2.8 zooms.
Thanks for the info, Todd. it would be great to see some AF tests in video mode recorded with the camera to see how slow it is now. I found it unusable on the EM-1 MK II for video which had a PDAF system. Its good to know it performs well, cheers!
i have the mark 2 20mm with the gh7. makes it positively pocketable!
if only it had OIS & dual IS... 😅
@@0xdc179 It’s probably impossible to fit an IS unit into the 20mm.
I’m just an enthusiast and did not understand why it was slow with focusing. Thank you for explaining unit focusing.
You're welcome!
Glad I found this video. I thought my GX9 was broken
You should see a message asking you to switch to AFS when you mount the lens. You don't have to, it'll just use AFS no matter what.

I just put up a follow up video with an AF test clip.
Great video. Thanks, Todd! Looking to pick up this nifty pancake when the sales start later in the year.

Thank you Shane. Yeah, I need to test it for video. I can do that in the near future.
