Sam, the easy way to tell a DE vs HR 350Z is the DE is single throttle body, HR is dual throttle body you can see the dual/single intakes even with the engine cover on, also, the DE has those two "slits" going down the hood, wheres the HR has a "bump" or raise in the middle with no slits. Google some pics you'll see what I mean. Super easy way to tell.

Video content request: Japan shops take used cars, convert them to left hand drive and sell them to lhd markets like my country of Cambodia. I'd like to see the shops that do this and the quality of their workmanship.
Man, that Midnight Purple S15 reminds me of my friend's Prelude (The last year, as the model code currently eludes me). Basically, the dealership tried to rook him because he had a body kit and rims on it, so they went on and on that they could only sell it for $4k. He later went back to sign some papers for his RSX that he traded it in for... And saw that they were selling his Prelude for $12k and using "Custom bodykit and rims" as the selling point to charge three grand more than what his car would normally go for.
That Stagea is a 260Rs Autech, the gtr version you talked about Sam, it was the only series 1 Stagea that came as manual. man i would love one, i've got an S1 R2four Stagea and i love it, but the Autech would be the dream for me
For anyone wondering, Heisei 1 is 1989 and runs up to 2019 which is H31. That would make the MNP S15 a 2000 model. You can figure the rest from that info.
Hi Sam, looking to import an Evo 5 GSR to the uk soon, love these videos you do and would really appreciate it if you can hit up a place next video with a spot selling some evos? Just to show the condition and retail prices compared to what I’ve been quoted for import. Cheers mate
How is it going with the evo? 😊 There is a Evo 5 GSR right now selling in UK with no rust at all in mindblowimt good condition for about 18,5k£ but its expensive i dont know just to help you i could give you the link too i cant afford it anyways
The double X on the 180 auction sheet means panel replacement. Likely someone replaced the rear centre panel with a later model one xtype or something. Common mod. Paint blemsih would be noted with a mark. X means this panel/part replaced (could be from damage or could be just a modification - like a GTR bumper on a gtst etc). As you said. If it was accident repair it would usually be grade R though some cars with small repairs will still get a 3-4grade.
Sam with a previous accident history some insurance companies will either up the premium or refuse to insure the car, also this now applies to modified cars well that is the case in the UK.
I think prices will keep climbing then level, not likely to come down much since its a supply thats not being produced and lots of demand in US when they become legally importable
Great video as always, Sam. ...I started importing parts roughly 5 years ago and start importing vehicles about 8 months ago. I have been wanting to import vehicles for over a decade and have been watching the market since about 2002.. My point...Car prices have definitely changed. R32 GTRs used to be $6,000...but you can't go back in time and it's not just America's fault. All the cars we (worldwide car people) are going on 20+ years old and they aren't making them anymore..If anything, car prices will continue to go up over the years. Americans who complain about American prices, or prices in-general, don't know what all goes into it. You have importing fees, shipping fees, dealer fees, business location expenses/fees, plus the competition of everyone buying these cars around the world, not including JAPAN itself as these were only made in Japan (for the most part) and Japanese people want them too lol..I do agree that some importers are ripping people off though with what they're bringing in. :/ It's sad but that's just the way it is. You can still find good deals through private party sales but prices will also be higher in the states due to those fees above + most importers know they can jack the price up for something basic. A super basic automatic R33 GTS (non turbo) is $11,000 full titled in my state. haha ridiculous... Look at 70 1/2 Z28 Camaros. They used to be practically given away in the 70s and 80s and even in the 2000s they were ~$20k cars. Now they're $50k cars..Same exact thing with Acura NSXs. They were $25,000 cars just 10 years ago, now they're $50k++. The way I see it, there's no better time than now to buy the car you want as prices will either never go back down in price, continue to incrase in price, and they won't make these cars ever again and will continue to increase in value DUE to being crashed/etc.
The Z in the garage is a year 1976. H33 is actually is hypothetical because it would be 2021, but actually, it is R3 year So this means it is the shaken expiration date...
Honestly once COVID kind of dies out we should start seeing the prices go back down. In Aus, s15 owners truly believe that their cars are worth 50k+ and its fked
Covid has nothing to with this, you can still import cars despite covid.. Prices will only continue to soar in price as the states are becoming legal and more sought after.. Jdm is high demand and little supply.. Sold my Type x a while ago now good deal
@@LucaBrasi125 oh really? Didn't know 17yr olds knew so much about the economy.. How's your mortgage going? How's your job?? Hmm? Mate you've got nooo clue, the demand for these cars has always been high, esp here in Australia, and now thanks to our laws CHANGING HERE, we can no longer import anything that's not 25 years and older.. But go ahead do your fortnight shuffle. The states have now allowed all the cars we've had forever and Japan is running out of jdm cars which everyone is buying.
People need to realize it all comes down to how many cars and engines are available. With how many are being used in Motorsport or your normal enthusiast with a build in his garage. These parts and cars over time end up broken or crashed. That takes more items off the potential market. Over 20-30 years, that’s a quite substantial amount That means the price will only keep going up, if you can find a deal now and hold onto it for a bit. You may not regret it financially down the road
I'm one of your biggest fans I love your channel bro quick question you should do one episode with the Mazda RX-7 and rx-3 with the pricing and everything
It used to be that the used market always had a fresh influx of the older models, because of course a newer model was just around the corner, which kind of kept older platform prices in check. Now, assuming you even get a new model once in a while, they're nowhere near the legendary status or have much room for upgrades anymore.
Such an interesting business model. How are they staying afloat not selling inventory. Guess I have to buy the dip after covid when there will be an over abundance of inventory and plenty of selling competition.
Uhm no, COVID has nothing to with it, these cars are so sought after now the supply and demand is out of whack.. Everyone in the USA wants one now and prices are adjusted..
European Petrolhead's JDM Dream's shatter immediately watching prices of japanese cars. Prices for some JDM cars look like this: S15 Spec-R 35'000$, R33 & R32 GT-R's 60'000$, Turbo Supra's & R34's 70'000+$ and there's an OEM Supra with 22'000km for 150'000$ and an R34 Midnight Purple GT-R for 120'000$. But yeah, i'm from Switzerland and these cars are extremely rare😅
Years ago I imported a EK9, DC5 and AE86 to the UK for my own personal use. The EK9 and DC5 were never available here as official domestic cars and the AE86 being 20+ years old were next to impossible to find at sensible money. At the time it was 180-200yen to the pound which made it financially very good to import from Japan. Broke even when I sold the EK9 after driving it for a couple of years and made a bit of money on the DC5 and AE86. These days its completely pointless importing from Japan. The exchange rate is awful and any cars under 10 years old are now a ball ache to get road legal and registered. If its a car thats readily available in the UK then its actually cheaper just to buy the official domestic version. One regret I have is selling a GTR33 I had. Paid £14000 back in 2004 from a private UK seller then sold it 18 months later for £12000. Now they sell for £60k+.
That S15 that's 238 had the bonnet replaced, radiator support replaced and cross member replaced. Was looking at it online but importer thinks might not pass RAWS.
It's not a type x, as a former owner of a real type x, that was just a kit.. Proper type x has sunroof and digital dash / heads up display and different fenders / flares. Interior also doesnt have the standard type x markings or trims.. Sorry not a type x just a kit..
John Doe nope your wrong not all type x come with a sunroof I own a type x and it dosent have a sunroof the sunroof was something you could of ordered them with out they also don’t all have head up Display and all have the 180sx type x has 180sx on the seats
The problem in the USA is supply and demand... there's an R34 GT-R in New York City right now being sold for US$125,000. The R32's and R33's are currently going for about $40k-$50k for GT-R. You don't find many GT-T, or GT-S, etc. That last S15 I saw in the states was asking for $65k. It's kind of ridiculous.
It's good for the community as a whole that there Is.more interest in car culture. It was definitely On a decline before. It's bad because people are people and price gauge on parts and vehicles
I also believe the bubble will burst at some point. I'm not sure how. I'd say when the cars get less supply they will still climb. It would take something else to make the bubble burst. So, not sure i agree with you when you say "once the U S don't have anything else to wait for, prices will come down" The demand will be greater surely with less available cars for sale. On the flip side, maybe export business in Japan will suffer. The emphasis may change on car type that are exported. Disclaimer, i have no crystal ball :D and these are just my thoughts on this.
Bro. Is there a hidden Cefiro yard. ? A31 are rare here in oz as you know. How popular were and are they there? Not seen many at the car meets you’ve shown us. I’m pretty curious because I have a couple, a missile that’s pretty banged up and my daily. There were a fair few here Gold Coast but numbers have dropped now. Also, R grade doesn’t necessarily mean accident repaired. Heavily modified cars are usually R grade too. Time to bone on your kanji so you can read the notes. :)
that heavily modded red s15 i would actually buy, take the wife body stuff off and the wing and all that strange aero and keep the track width to slam it and also the tail lights are sooooo sick
20-30k should usually always get you something decent, maybe more for an FD or a GTR but still, that's money most people who are serious about cars will be able to afford. Just get something your willing to dedicate to and treasure.

Easiest way to check if a Z is a DE or an HR: if the hood has 2 lines going down the middle it’s a DE. If it has a bulge hood, it’s an HR.
Thanks for going through what the label says was helpful, occasionally looked at car yards I Japan and it was a bit hard to work it out. Cheers!
I'm from Australia, and these are basically dream prices 🤦🏽♂️ I remember growing up wanting to buy a supra (back in 2010, going for around $10k-20k)... Now they cost $60k + !! 93' SZ with 170, 000kms Manual going for $80 000 AUD 😩 Guess it'll just remain a 'Dream Car' 💔
The prices changed a lot since Okachan was there with his used S15 comparison video! Many more modified S15s as well.
One of those Zs had a R35 bumper
im sure modded cars are more normal than stock cars there
@@alexander1485 yeah
That Stagea is a 260Rs Autech, the gtr version you talked about Sam, it was the only series 1 Stagea that came as manual. man i would love one, i've got an S1 R2four Stagea and i love it, but the Autech would be the dream for me
Hell yeah man same here🤘😎🦄
For anyone wondering, Heisei 1 is 1989 and runs up to 2019 which is H31. That would make the MNP S15 a 2000 model. You can figure the rest from that info.
So glad i got my FD there in atsugi for only 7500 bucks! Nothing was run with it! My buddy was very generous!
There is a Evo 5 GSR right now selling in UK with no rust at all in mindblowimt good condition for about 18,5k£ but its expensive i dont know just to help you i could give you the link too i cant afford it anyways
I'm a American muscle car guy. But its still really cool to see how the Japanese do it. Thanks.
I would prefer walking around that car lot. It was always my dream seeing all those cars ❤️
"XX" means that particular panel HAS ALREADY been replaced. "X" would mean NEEDS replacing.
I can’t wait to go to japan for the sideways experience
Great video man keep up the great work 👍👍👍
Great video as always, Sam. ...I started importing parts roughly 5 years ago and start importing vehicles about 8 months ago.
It's sad but that's just the way it is. You can still find good deals through private party sales but prices will also be higher in the states due to those fees above + most importers know they can jack the price up for something basic. A super basic automatic R33 GTS (non turbo) is $11,000 full titled in my state. haha
ridiculous...
That Stagea was the Nissan GTR model.
All the stagea GTR models, the front bumper sticks out 100mm under the headlights.
23:00 that's a 2+2 so values are lower than 2 seater versions. It's likely 1976 model if its showa 51.
The Z in the garage is a year 1976.
H33 is actually is hypothetical because it would be 2021, but actually, it is R3 year
So this means it is the shaken expiration date...
I’ll be going to Japan next month, I’ll be there for 2 years can’t wait to see the cars and what’s around ! I’m excited
@@JohnDoeC78 Well clearly you don't know the impact Covid has had on the economy.
Spec r 1.8 milion yen in Japan + shipping costs + custom fee 5% + compliance costs + taxes = $35000 in Australia
People need to realize it all comes down to how many cars and engines are available. With how many are being used in Motorsport or your normal enthusiast with a build in his garage.
These parts and cars over time end up broken or crashed. That takes more items off the potential market. Over 20-30 years, that’s a quite substantial amount
That means the price will only keep going up, if you can find a deal now and hold onto it for a bit. You may not regret it financially down the road
Sammit an idiot
Sold my 180sx 13 years ago for 10k. Sold my s14 12 years ago for 12k. Sold my S2000 8 years ago for 18k....I'm crying. (AUD btw)
In spain any random mx5 NA, NB, cost around 6000€. Same thing happens with any car a little bit "special"...
Thats what I have. A V35 Skyline 350GT
Heavily thinking of importing a 2017 STI from Japan ...
To what country?
@@nhilist5774 Barbados... Import laws are pretty different here
I want a 1998
Why 2017?
@@zthreetwo9874 much easier to import a newer car here than anything over 5 years old
I'm one of your biggest fans I love your channel bro quick question you should do one episode with the Mazda RX-7 and rx-3 with the pricing and everything
Dammm glad i picked up my 34 sedan (manual/turbo swapped) for 9grand AUD 2 weeks ago.....
It depends on what you want to get. If you don't get a very sought after JDM car, they are very affordable.
20:00 that looks like a 260rs Stagea. So the GTR wagon. Rb26 etc.. it has the body kit + wheels to be 1. So likely is.
I’m loving the Stagea and the E34 ALOT!!!
Stagea is definitely a great daily, would recommend them!
XX means panel replaced. A car may have panels replaced but not receive an R grade if there wasn't an insurance claim on the repair.
easiest way to to tell if the 350z motor is HR is it will have dual intakes instead of single
It used to be that the used market always had a fresh influx of the older models, because of course a newer model was just around the corner, which kind of kept older platform prices in check. Now, assuming you even get a new model once in a while, they're nowhere near the legendary status or have much room for upgrades anymore.
That midnight purple Silvia was pretty nice. Tastefully done.
I feel like the prices have inflated because of the lack of modern inventory
Such an interesting business model. How are they staying afloat not selling inventory. Guess I have to buy the dip after covid when there will be an over abundance of inventory and plenty of selling competition.
Uhm no, COVID has nothing to with it, these cars are so sought after now the supply and demand is out of whack.. Everyone in the USA wants one now and prices are adjusted..
I remember when I brought a 92 200sx in dolphin blue for £350 ,best car ever but now they are around £5000.
But yeah, i'm from Switzerland and these cars are extremely rare😅
that moment when youve wanted an s13 forever and the prices gap your wallet
That Suzuki Wagon R way more cheap than in my country!, really what a heaven
Those 3 spokes on the red crashed S15 are called Advan SA3R :)
8:17 sam you have to understand it's a type x. That's the most sort after s chassis. It is going to be more expensive.
@@jordanneumann9467 what is your trim code, and plant code? These numbers don't lie
John Doe KLO G and plant x
Type X isn't the most sought S chassis lol
The problem in the USA is supply and demand... there's an R34 GT-R in New York City right now being sold for US$125,000. The R32's and R33's are currently going for about $40k-$50k for GT-R. You don't find many GT-T, or GT-S, etc. That last S15 I saw in the states was asking for $65k. It's kind of ridiculous.
Also... keep in mind that 2024 will legalize import of R34 and S15.... so after that the bubble is gone.
If it a gtr v spec
It's good for the community as a whole that there Is.more interest in car culture. It was definitely On a decline before. It's bad because people are people and price gauge on parts and vehicles
Hi Sammit just love it when you go and look at cars keep it up great drive yesterday🇦🇺😉✌
AU falcons are the flavour of the month here.
Crazy to think when I was learning to drive 8 years ago s13/s14s were £2000 r33 skylines for £3000 and now look 🤦🏻♂️
I remember in 2014 r34 skyline was like 7-13k before being exported now it’s ridiculous
Japanese year Heise 12 is 2000 Hope's this helps y'all out.
The Suzuki kei car @ 4:40 or something is a Wagon R (2008-2012 model). I think this one is a "stingray"
Also, R grade doesn’t necessarily mean accident repaired. Heavily modified cars are usually R grade too. Time to bone on your kanji so you can read the notes. :)
for 350 with HR engine u can see a "shield" or superman logo shape n the front hood if there's a flate shape on the hod its a single intake VQ engine.
this is why I shifted my dreams from BNR33 to lesser ECR33
Keep these vids up i wanna be reminded of japan.
that heavily modded red s15 i would actually buy, take the wife body stuff off and the wing and all that strange aero and keep the track width to slam it and also the tail lights are sooooo sick
If you need a car, if you need a truck, if you need a van, come see stan the car man, who also sells trucks and vans
Wow the z32 gets no love 😞😌
right😔
About the Z33s, no HRs in your video, they all have the zenki/chūki hood that don’t fit over the HR.
sammit has an infinte bucket list like mine
20-30k should usually always get you something decent, maybe more for an FD or a GTR but still, that's money most people who are serious about cars will be able to afford.
Just get something your willing to dedicate to and treasure.
Straight up! Where's the Minitruck culture? Can you go to those lots or is that outside of your zone?
Oh!
ALSO! Someone told me that a 350Z or 370Z are considered little GTR's in Japan. Is that true?
Loving this one thanks for sharing very information blessed love to all knowledge is power hopefully everyone pays attention keep up the good work 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Thanks Sam.
I hope they will level out. I wonder if the COVID crisis in the US will slow their economy and lower the current demand.
Time will tell.
That 180sx is not 10 years older than the S15. It’s a late model H9 / 1997 180sx, the S15 next to it is a 2002.
Hi Sammit a save from Brazil man you are very lucky you live in a country where you have real cars.
Here in my country cars like yours cost the price of a penthouse for a commercial building, or even a luxury apartment. as I wanted to have at least one JDM car more in my country the most we have of JDM are the Eclipse and the Lancer Evolution 2010 and some more Subaru Empreza not that they are not good cars but we do not have a great variety as there where you live who knows one day I will not have your luck and I will buy a beautiful and wonderful JDM just like your cars, a hug and may God bless you today and always here is all my respect and admiration for your work congratulations.
Where is the best place to find car sales online in Japan? I would love to import 260RS to Australia but there isn’t many around. There is like 2x online in Japan.
I dig the Red S15 with the GP Sports Gullflame widebody kit.
Toyota century is the next big jdm only Japan exclusive that will be available for import to America in 6 months frome now. the only v12 Japan car built , has alot of history and is considered a Japan legend thats not known world wide yet. Only 10k built frome 97 to 2016 so makes it a rear car also. Will skyrocket in price I reckon. Still cheap atm so get in fast.
In the states Ik for the z if ur looking for a he model the front hood will have a raised area on the hood and the de model has just the 2 line
Hi can some of these cars be converted to Left hand drives before shipment there? Any idea of this and some price ranges?
I agree but I also think that you’re forgetting that evos and gc8 sti’s are also in very high demand!!
