    I was torn with making this decision with my new build. Going to 4k or the 1440p one. Can you run 1440p on the 4k if you wanted to run more frames to match the 240hz? Was leaning towards the 4k with the updated US price of $950 which changes a lot. Nice clean informative video!

    Thanks for the video. As a reference, we got our 55" LG OLED C1's as our pc monitors from Costco here in the US when they were discontinued for like $1100 each. They came with 5 year warranty and $200 online credit.
    Wife ordered us some World of Warcraft hats, shirts, and sweaters with the $200 online credit. If I had to do it all over again I am not sure I would choose a TV as a pc monitor. Having to manually turn it on and off is annoying.
    The screen dimming constantly to keep the panel healthy is very inconvenient when gaming on older games like Everquest that do not have a working gamma anymore thanks to Windows 10.
    I wall mounted them and installed sound bars directly at the bottom of the 55"s. Using 2X4 blocks I made the sound bars sit flush against the bottom bezel, which makes manually turning them on and off even more difficult.
    It is convenient though for multi tasking because of the size. I mention all this because it is wild they are asking $1200 for a 32" 4k monitor but considering it is OLED, has 240hz, built in KVM, and multiple HDMI inputs + Display port I can see how the price got that high.

  • @aaroncheater

    Those US prices are incorrect, as others have already said.
    The Australian tax on those monitors is ridiculous. The 27" for example converts from $700 USD to AUD $1230 + 10% GST, so that monitor shouldn't cost more than $1400 AUD (and that's with a bit of extra thrown in). I'd even be happy to pay $1500 AUD in a stretch. Especially since the Alienware equivalent that uses the same panel is only $1359 AUD, and in the US the MSI is actually $100 CHEAPER than the Alienware.
    Now I know Australian prices aren't based purely on USD conversions, but they do serve as a good ballpark figure that other manufacturers have worked with in the past (we even have an example last year of an LG monitor being CHEAPER here than it was in the US). Not sure why MSI thinks they can price things so highly as I've used their old MPG321UR-QD monitor, and while the panel was fantastic the build quality wasn't that great. Thankfully the MSI head office was local to Sydney and I was able to take it in myself when I had to get it repaired.

    What's the point of DP over HDMI?
    And what is KVM really if you only have one thing to connect to it? I'm curious since you said they are the positives of a TV vs a monitor?

    • @GearSeekers
      @GearSeekers  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Depending on your GPU adaptive sync might not be available on HDMI where it's always available on DP. DP also has a far more robust connector.
      KVM doesn't matter if you only have a single device connected.
      I didn't say that. I said there are no positives having a TV over a monitor. TV's do not support standard power management and state detection like monitors do. They also lack the ability to use hardware DDC control.

    • @hellblazer7
      @hellblazer7 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Dp is also an open source protocol, meaning its open standard and requires no extra patent payment. It has higher bandwidth support compared to it's similar generation counterparts. It also supports daisy chain without losing bandwidth, meaning you can connect several dp supported monitors and feed them 1 input which will be sent to all of those monitors without dividing the bandwidth. Lets say you want to daisy chain 4 monitors and youre sending 40gbps bandwidth, each monitor will receive 40gbps bandwidth instead of 10gbps each which hdmi does. Dp is just so cool. Its like the coolest but chilliest kid in the class. It is the top scorer and then again it is also the most humble.

      Yeah same here i built my mid range pc about 6 months ago and my 1440 165hz VA panel was $250 cad. I can sit here dreaming about how games would look at 4k oled but when the monitor would cost $1500 cad and a pc that could do it justice another 2.5k minimum is pretty rough. It is supposed to be high end hardware but being nearly triple the price of the middle ground stuff, even if I can afford it, doesn't seem like a smart consumer decision. Hopefully the next generation of hardware and displays shakes things up.

    I know you had issues with it getting it to work in your case, but I wonder why probably the most game breaking AI features of this monitor are hardly ever talked about, like it's legit revolutionary, being able to zoom in on a target with a custom monitor scope with a single shortcut to make you even more of a God at sniping via unfair advantage is something that should be front page news. lol
    Imagine playing fortnite with an 18x scope or something without having any actual scopes on the sniper rifle without terrible zoom in pixelation. I know it's unfair and disgusting but oh God I want it.

    The tacky dragon on the back of the monitor as well as the 1998 like desk stand ruined the whole look.

      You've obviously never seen good OLED and gave in to the over-hyped "burnin" FUD. Nothing compares or is even close in PQ and responsiveness. Besides maybe micro LED which is like $100k right now for the one display that exists.
