1981 Datsun 280ZX Project Gets A New Ignition Cylinder!

We're back working on the Datsun as it's almost ready to go back on the road. Here myf dad and I chase an electrical gremlin that on the surface just seemed to be a faulty ignition cylinder that required excessive force to turn the key. We found melted wires in there!

Nice work bringing the Datsun back to life Jason! Buddy of mine had a 240z long ago, got stranded when same wiring melted and started smoking….brings back memories.

Bout to do this myself on a 83 280 ZX, thanks for the tips. I bought mine with only 88,000 miles on it. Surviving running engine but no electrical on the dash and a completely fucked ignition system due to theft.
