I’m totally obsessed with the reading streak. I lost several days due to being on vacation and not having my device connected to WiFi. I thought for sure it would count the days, but it didn’t. This truck worked and added the 30 days back into my streak. I know it doesn’t sound like much, but when you are building a streak, it’s huge.
What annoys me - kindle app tracks "reading on kindle", and while 90% of my readings are kindle - I love to take my paper book and read it too. Then I have to "fake" a minute on some non related content, instead of having an option to say "I am reading this paper book today, pages x-y". But I guess managers in amazon didn't figure out that information about paper books (or shall we call them just books?) that customers are reading are as well valuable information for future suggestions and sales? ... ah...
Omg thank you so much for this I read today and it did not record and I didn't notice until after 12 this saved me 519-day streak. Also, I obsess over my streak as well so do not worry you aren't the only one

My favourite is if you tend to go to bed around midnight, and read twenty minutes to fall asleep - if you are a bit early one day, falling asleep by 11:30pm - and a bit late the next - starting to read say 12:01 - you've suddenly lost a day.
That'd solve *all* my problems! 😅 Was able to save a 143 day streak with your method, many thanks! Wouldn't normally "cheat" but in my above example we were talking minutes on each side, which was just ludicrous. Also fired up son's 11SE only to see it out of battery (first time ever) during the evening, it would have triggered activity otherwise. My week streak you ask? Oh, 168 weeks! 😊

Oh man, it worked! The first time it didn't cause I turned airplane mode off first but I just did it again and read a couple chapters (farther in the book from where I was) then turned time back first then turned off airplane mode checked and it was already counted didn't even have to wait. For those wondering if this still works, it did for me as of 02-27-24. Thank you again. Saved me a long streak from being lost.
Just wanted to add my success. I'm on Android and apparently didn't have Wi-Fi turned on (or it was a bad connection) on 8/23/2024 while reading in a bar before a run. I found out the following night (8/24/2024) that the streak broke despite having read 2 chapters the previous day. Saved 200 days! Only annoyance is the waiting for the data to transfer to the server.
My 362 day streak was broken accidentally and I’m so hopeful that this process will fit it! I’ve followed the directions exactly (on iPhone) and now I’m just waiting it out of a few hours to see what happens 😅

Glad I could help! I keep my streak going by changing my mindset about what it means to be a reader. I rarely sit for long periods of time reading. Instead, I fill up my empty times with reading: waiting in line, driving in the car (audio books!), while the meat is cooking on the grill. All the 5 or 10 minute snatches of time add up! PSA for those who don’t already know: I just learned that Kindle uses Pacific time in the US to record streaks (no matter what your actual time zone!) I lost my streak thinking my couple hours of reading past midnight would count for the day, but on the east coast, Kindle considers that yesterday until 3am. Can someone at Amazon fix that madness??

Are you saying there's no way to fix this using a Kindle Fire? That could be true, I'm not sure. But what WILL work is if you download the Kindle App into a mobile device, sign into your account, then follow the steps in the Vid. That will fix your broken streak across your Kindle account and associated devices.
You're my kind of reader! I'll have to find out if the tracking applies to 'listening' to your Kindle books on an Echo device. I listen with Kindle Assisted Reader, the hands-free way to check out a book that's not on Audible. I can crochet, pull weeds, or drive while enjoying a great 'read.' (Dani Haviland, author of loads of books)
Follow these steps exactly and it'll come back! Remember though, it might take several hours, so if it doesn't work right away be patient. Good luck, and come back and let me know how it goes!
I found your video after also finding the Reddit post. I’m trying to find a fix for Kindle messing up my Reading Challenge last month - insights clearly states I read every day but I apparently didn’t qualify for the perfect month 😫
@@onemanbookclub2585 indeed, for April, the calendar is showing I read each day. But my perfect month award wasn’t granted. I saw several people reached out to Kindle on X, about the same issue but Kindle (typically) didn’t respond. Thank you for this video though, great fix.
You are not alone. I check my reading streak every day. I guess it shouldn’t matter to me, but it does. For some reason it didn’t record today even though I read a couple of different times today and I lost my streak of 1057 days. I just tried or method but I don’t know. If it worked yet.
It'll work! It didn't record my reading on Christmas Day (even though I read!), so I followed the same steps and it still worked! It's not immediate, so check back in an hour or so. It it doesn't work try again! Good luck!
So i tried it last night and again this morning and it hasnt fixed! Ive used your steps in the past and now im sad it wont work. I swear i follow step by step! Im gunna give it till the end of the day and hopefully it syncs. Im going to be so sad if i have to start my streak over
What irks the crap out of me is it seems Kindle ends the day at 3am EST. I read during the day and at night and too often it misses a day or two. I'm quite irritated.
My problem is that my reading streak shows that I've read every single day this month, but the weekly and monthly achievements for this week are missing a day, I tried this and it didn't fix it😩, as the problem wasn't the streak, but the individual achievements. 😔
Ahh... I don't pay much attention to the achievements, but that would be good to figure out. If you learn a trick, let me know! I'll also say, it can sometimes take several hours to update. So maybe you just need to give it more time?
@onemanbookclub2585 I'll keep you posted if I can get a fix. But it's been more than an hour, and it hasn't been updated. I've had a perfect score for the last two Kindle achievements challenge, and this one is going to be messed up because of this stupid glitch. And I feel bad to contact customer support for a missing day, so I'm not doing it. 😔 I even uninstalled and reinstalled the Kindle app, and it didn't work.

So, I’m glad you mentioned cruising. I have one planned soon and I was worried about my streak that will be over 700 days by then. I was wondering if I’m going to be without WiFi for the duration of my 5 day cruise, upon returning, do I need to do this hack for each day?
I'm trying to fix something similar. But instead of my reading streak being broken, it's that the achievement refuses to update a complete for the perfect month. I can even see on my insights where all of the days of august are showing that they recorded me reading. And my overall streak says 46 days. It's been stuck on this achievement not updating for two days now. T-T
@@onemanbookclub2585It hasn't, unfortunately. I even went back a month further and used this hack to fix the broken streak for July to see if it would set off the achievement. The streak got fixed, but the perfect month still is blank. It's like the part of the app that records the streak is somehow not sending the information to trigger the achievement. I say this just as speculation because I'm not actually very knowledgeable on tech stuff😅
This is not "the" fix, it's a patch. I've realized that the counting days stops whenever I'm reading a personal book placed through Usb cable for instance. That days Kindle Insights doesn't seem to work. But it worked when I read 1 or 2 pages from a book in my Kindle cloud, purchased or sent through "Send to my Kindle" function. So now for not missing a day being counted, every time I'm reading a personal document, I have to switch to another book in my cloud at the end of my reading (from kindle or from app), so then I don't need to "hack" the daytime on my phone to update the amazon servers
@@onemanbookclub2585 Well it worked on my last Kindle 10th gen, almost every book was personal Epubs converted to Azw3 format, almos a year reading those files, then started purchasing ebooks from amazon and again no problem at all. Since 2 weeks ago I upgraded to 11th gen Kindle and all this behaviour started. I've tried to logout my Kindle account on device and app, resetting both but It didn't work.
Sometimes it straight up doesn’t work and I can’t get it to load it up at all the page to load up at all or it doesn’t load correctly on my iPhone and my iPad. I went into the app and didn’t sync and then I had it we tried to do the reading insight and it loaded just fine.
Thanks for this. Was able to join my two reading streaks together, after I missed a day because I forgot about the cut off. Speaking of, would you or anyone know if there is a way to adjust when KU considers the end of the day? For me, 9pm is the cut off and after that it considers it the next day and so if I haven’t read yet, even if there are technically 3 more hours in the day, it will reset to 0. It’s annoying because I usually read before bed but if that’s before 9 one day and after 9 the next, it doesn’t count the day unless I already read early in the day (or fake read. And just turned pages for a few minutes). But I don’t always have time and the later doesn’t feel genuine, because I could just not read and it would already be counted. And while this is a handy trick, I'm hoping not to have to rely on it.
I know all Kindle time is matched to Amazon HQ, which is Pacific Standard Time in the US. Maybe you can fool it the same way? Not sure it would work quite the same... Give it a try and report back! Good luck!

Nope, don't connect to wifi. Follow the directions exactly and it should work. It can take a while to catch up... It's taken even an hour or more for me. Keep trying!
Try it again, going through the steps carefully. Also, it isn't right away, it will take a couple hours for it to catch up. It's worked every time I've needed it so far.
Mine will not correct itself. I’ve tried three times. I am a bookstagrammer so II read 6-8 hrs a day. I don’t know why it didn’t record Thursday but when I checked Saturday I only had a day instead of almost a year… ideas?
Wow, your cats have their own TH-cam channel! Lucky them! The feedback I've gotten is that this method works reliably. My advice is to 1) follow the steps exactly, and 2) give it an hour or so to reset before you try again. I actually haven't met anyone who couldn't get it to work. Good luck!

Amazon HQ is Seattle, and so Kindle time had always been PST! I doubt that will ever change! I'm glad you're back in action!

I’m trying to find a fix for Kindle messing up my Reading Challenge last month - insights clearly states I read every day but I apparently didn’t qualify for the perfect month 😫

@@onemanbookclub2585 indeed, for April, the calendar is showing I read each day. But my perfect month award wasn’t granted. I saw several people reached out to Kindle on X, about the same issue but Kindle (typically) didn’t respond.

You are not alone. I check my reading streak every day. I guess it shouldn’t matter to me, but it does. For some reason it didn’t record today even though I read a couple of different times today and I lost my streak of 1057 days. I just tried or method but I don’t know. If it worked yet.
It'll work! It didn't record my reading on Christmas Day (even though I read!), so I followed the same steps and it still worked! It's not immediate, so check back in an hour or so. It it doesn't work try again! Good luck!

So i tried it last night and again this morning and it hasnt fixed! Ive used your steps in the past and now im sad it wont work. I swear i follow step by step! Im gunna give it till the end of the day and hopefully it syncs. Im going to be so sad if i have to start my streak over

What irks the crap out of me is it seems Kindle ends the day at 3am EST. I read during the day and at night and too often it misses a day or two. I'm quite irritated.
They operate on Amazon time, which is US PST.
My problem is that my reading streak shows that I've read every single day this month, but the weekly and monthly achievements for this week are missing a day, I tried this and it didn't fix it😩, as the problem wasn't the streak, but the individual achievements. 😔
Ahh... I don't pay much attention to the achievements, but that would be good to figure out. If you learn a trick, let me know! I'll also say, it can sometimes take several hours to update. So maybe you just need to give it more time?
@onemanbookclub2585 I'll keep you posted if I can get a fix. But it's been more than an hour, and it hasn't been updated. I've had a perfect score for the last two Kindle achievements challenge, and this one is going to be messed up because of this stupid glitch. And I feel bad to contact customer support for a missing day, so I'm not doing it. 😔
I even uninstalled and reinstalled the Kindle app, and it didn't work.

I’m obsessed with keeping my streak going and I’m gutted that it broke my streak even though I have read every single day (and I double check that I’m connected to WiFi first)! Ugh!

So, I’m glad you mentioned cruising. I have one planned soon and I was worried about my streak that will be over 700 days by then. I was wondering if I’m going to be without WiFi for the duration of my 5 day cruise, upon returning, do I need to do this hack for each day?
Yep, you'll need to do it for each day there isn't recorded. I pay for ship wifi just so my streak doesn't get lost! 😆
I'm trying to fix something similar. But instead of my reading streak being broken, it's that the achievement refuses to update a complete for the perfect month. I can even see on my insights where all of the days of august are showing that they recorded me reading. And my overall streak says 46 days. It's been stuck on this achievement not updating for two days now. T-T
Hmm, I'll need to think about this one. I've never noticed this happening. Has it fixed itself by now?
@@onemanbookclub2585It hasn't, unfortunately. I even went back a month further and used this hack to fix the broken streak for July to see if it would set off the achievement. The streak got fixed, but the perfect month still is blank. It's like the part of the app that records the streak is somehow not sending the information to trigger the achievement. I say this just as speculation because I'm not actually very knowledgeable on tech stuff😅

This is not "the" fix, it's a patch. I've realized that the counting days stops whenever I'm reading a personal book placed through Usb cable for instance. That days Kindle Insights doesn't seem to work. But it worked when I read 1 or 2 pages from a book in my Kindle cloud, purchased or sent through "Send to my Kindle" function.
So now for not missing a day being counted, every time I'm reading a personal document, I have to switch to another book in my cloud at the end of my reading (from kindle or from app), so then I don't need to "hack" the daytime on my phone to update the amazon servers

Yep, it only counts when you read ebooks! I don't think documents count.
@@onemanbookclub2585 Well it worked on my last Kindle 10th gen, almost every book was personal Epubs converted to Azw3 format, almos a year reading those files, then started purchasing ebooks from amazon and again no problem at all. Since 2 weeks ago I upgraded to 11th gen Kindle and all this behaviour started.
I've tried to logout my Kindle account on device and app, resetting both but It didn't work.

You mean sometimes it doesn't work? Or you mean you like seeing your corrected reading history show up?
Sometimes it straight up doesn’t work and I can’t get it to load it up at all the page to load up at all or it doesn’t load correctly on my iPhone and my iPad. I went into the app and didn’t sync and then I had it we tried to do the reading insight and it loaded just fine.

Thanks for this. Was able to join my two reading streaks together, after I missed a day because I forgot about the cut off. Speaking of, would you or anyone know if there is a way to adjust when KU considers the end of the day? For me, 9pm is the cut off and after that it considers it the next day and so if I haven’t read yet, even if there are technically 3 more hours in the day, it will reset to 0. It’s annoying because I usually read before bed but if that’s before 9 one day and after 9 the next, it doesn’t count the day unless I already read early in the day (or fake read. And just turned pages for a few minutes). But I don’t always have time and the later doesn’t feel genuine, because I could just not read and it would already be counted. And while this is a handy trick, I'm hoping not to have to rely on it.
I know all Kindle time is matched to Amazon HQ, which is Pacific Standard Time in the US. Maybe you can fool it the same way? Not sure it would work quite the same... Give it a try and report back! Good luck!

Nope, don't connect to wifi. Follow the directions exactly and it should work. It can take a while to catch up... It's taken even an hour or more for me. Keep trying!

Yes, it takes some time to reset. Just repeat the process for each day you need to recover, and you'll be caught up!
How long did you have to wait? Mine seemingly won't update :(
It can take a few hours, maybe even overnight. As long as you follow the steps exactly, it will work!

When you turn on airplane mode, do you turn off your internet connection as well? Airplane mode leaves wifi on on my phone.

Mine will not correct itself. I’ve tried three times. I am a bookstagrammer so II read 6-8 hrs a day. I don’t know why it didn’t record Thursday but when I checked Saturday I only had a day instead of almost a year… ideas?

Wow, your cats have their own TH-cam channel! Lucky them! The feedback I've gotten is that this method works reliably. My advice is to 1) follow the steps exactly, and 2) give it an hour or so to reset before you try again. I actually haven't met anyone who couldn't get it to work. Good luck!
