I like how you didn’t have a long, boring intro like most youtubers. You cut straight to the point and this keeps viewers around. Good work!

I've been in practice 5 years. 10 years in mental health. I remember working agency 60 hour weeks and trying to build my practice on the side. I started using skills i had learned by tons of research and trial and error. 😅 I only worked 3-4 days a week and make 6 figures my first year!! Yall, its so worth it. You can so your own credentialing, billing, marketing, everything with a streamlined process and cut out the middle men to maximize your profit. Then you can see clients you excel at seeing and maximize your profit. Its really less intimidating than you think. I agree that mentality is important.

I was hoping this video would give more specific information. For example, what applications to do need to fill out to start a private practice, for example, do you have to have a CAQH application? What licensure do you need - business license and/or occupational license? What billing software do you recommend? What is a good number of patients to have in your practice per day/per week?

Anita, so many of your questions are very dependent on the exact state and city where you live, not to mention which country you live in, what clinical license you have, etc. So, at the end of the day most of your questions above can be answered with a quick Google, whereas here I try to give you more of an insight into the strategy of successful private practice :)

You should definitely consider working with court mandated clients to make great money in your private practice. Derek Collins is the go to guy for this information.

In recent weeks, I've been seriously considering opening a practice. The thing is, I really have no idea what to do. I have my degree, but I've never even WORKED in an office, and here I am thinking of starting one of my own? Am I mad? Is it unreasonable to be thinking about this now?

I am in the same boat and while I would like to open my practice I think I’m going to wait until I get more experience under my belt so that I’m not stressing about both my business and counseling competencies. I hope your plans/aspirations work out!

I get 4-6 referrals a week just on PT. I do not have a website. I'd suggest focusing on what outcomes your ideal client is looking for in your advertising.

I was a case manager for almost four years and did crisis work for 3 more. I feel you girl! I would say this depends. Given your experience in case management you may have more experience than most with risk management, time management, etc. You have skills that will be forever useful
