Quick history. Metallica formed when James Hetfield answered Lars Ulrich's ad in a trade magazine about starting a band. Both were teenagers. Lars is the drummer and you know who James is. James had a friend named Ron McGovney who played bass with him in another band. So Ron joined as the bassist. And then Dave Mustaine joined as the last member. They recorded a few demos and played a few gigs. And then one night they saw Cliff Burton playing bass and decided he needed to be in the band. So Ron was out and Cliff was in. And that quartet (James, Lars, Cliff, and Dave) wrote and played most of the "No Life Til Leather" demo that got them noticed by Megaforce Records. So they get an invitation from Megaforce Records to go record an album. The band is from California and the recording studio is in upstate New York. So the band took a road trip across the country to record their album and played a few gigs along the way. By the time they got to New York City, the band had become so fed up with Dave Mustaine's drunken and violent behavior that they fired him in April 1983 and put him on a bus back to California. Then they brought in Kirk Hammet, who was playing with the band Exodus at the time, and he took Dave's place at lead guitar. This new quartet of James, Lars, Cliff, and Kirk recorded Metallica's first three studio albums -- Kill Em All, Ride the Lightning, and Master of Puppets. While the band was on tour promoting Master of Puppets in September 1986, their tour bus skidded on ice and flipped over in the dead of night while everyone was asleep. Cliff was thrown from the bus and then the bus landed on top of him, killing him. The band flew back home and immediately started auditioning bassists, and finally gave the job to Jason Newsted. Jason stayed with the band for about 15 years and recorded four studio albums with Metallica -- And Justice For All, Metallica (black album), Load, and Reload. Then Jason quit the band, and Metallica recorded a terrible album, St. Anger, with their producer Bob Rock playing bass. After that debacle, they hired a real bassist -- Robert Trujillo. The current quartet of James, Lars, Kirk and Robert have recorded two studio albums together -- Death Magnetic, and Hardwired... to Self-Destruct. --- And so what happened to Dave Mustaine after he was fired? He went back home to California and started the band Megadeth. Not too shabby.

@@saintcolumbo8869 Thanks, mate. I'm an old man now, and my musical tastes have broadened. But Metallica are still my favorite. I grew up listening to them. Master of Puppets was the first album I bought as a teen with my own money. And this 1989 tour was the first concert I ever went to (not in Seattle though). And on another note, since you have such a man crush on James, here's a good story for you. Metallica were playing a concert in Montreal in August 1992. They were co-headlining a massive tour with Guns N Roses. Anyway, Metallica played first and James accidentally stepped into a pyrotechnic on stage. He suffered serious burns to his arm and obviously cut the set short. But they resumed the tour 17 days later with James all bandaged up. He couldn't play guitar, so former Metallica roadie John Marshall took over since he knew how to play all the songs, and James just sang. The man was literally set on fire and was back on the road in 17 days. --- And did Guns N Roses save the day in Montreal after the accident cut short Metallica's set? Nope. GNR front man Axl Rose had a sore throat and pulled the band off stage after a few songs. If you thought this was amazing check out Metallica at Monsters of Rock in Moscow 1991. One of the biggest concerts/ possibly the biggest concert in the History of Music.
Metallica started off in 1981 as James Hetfeild on vocals and rythim guitar, Lars Ulrich on drums, Dave mustaine on lead guitar and Ron Mcgovney on bass. Ron no longer wanted to be apart of the band and left before their first album dropped. He was replaced by the amazing Cliff Burton. Then Dave mustaine who was heavily addicted to drugs and wasn’t meshing well with the others was kicked out of Metallica and ended up making their rival band Megadeth in spite of Metallica. He was replaced by Kirk Hammet. Later after their 3rd album Cliff was killed in a tragic bus accident and was replaced by Jason Newstead who is the guy playing at the beginning that you mistook for Kirk. After 14 years Jason was kicked out for questionable reasons and was replaced by Robert Trujillo who previously played for Ozzy Osbourne. I hope this info helped a little.

But my point is how is someone talking about addiction and weed, when most people are addicted to Tom, dick, and harry.
Dopamine is released from everybody there is no exceptions.
Simply put don't be ignorant and so quick to judge.
People judge to build up their own self esteem my guy, make themselves feel good.
I understand the ways of a man. Of humanity.
Feel.free to rant bro...
Obsession and addiction are bordering near on the same thing don't you think.
Don't you think most addiction resort back to mentality and not physicality. Bruce Lee was the master of mind over pain.
And my guy don't be taking offence I'm a real guy. I don't expect people to agree with everything i say. We're a civil society who can express themselves in respect. Well at least on this channel.
@@saintcolumbo8869 It's fine... the agreement to disagree seems to be a dying concept but one that is not lost on me.
Yh thank you indeed for this info. Very much appreciated.
Bro, check out Metallica-Seek and Destroy-Mexico city 1-3-1993 Sports Palace- Live Shit Audio
Kick ass song and you can see James hyping up the crowd like crazy (also one of the few songs where Jason Newstead is singing)
Safe bro
Hey bro here is the link to learn all you need to know, I'd write it down for you but it would take forever 😂👍 Check it out...

I am and have been a life long Metallica fan since literally 6-7 yrs old, along with all of the greats, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Guns N Roses...etc. Because I had a 9 year older sister who exposed me to All of hem from a young age... Well on December 5th 2018, my at the time 11 yo daughter and I (33 at the time) were officially baptized into the Metallica family, attending our first show and I can assure you, though they might be getting "Older" but so are we, and their shows haven't "calmed down" in the least, 20,000+ people All singing, screaming, moshing, and having my daughter there with me, was the time of my/our lives. This show is only like 3 hours north from where we seen them in Portland Oregon...

Lol. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hey, James is an alcoholic. Life...
And that's relevant because...?? Don't be a axx
@@jailee4266 Agree
@@jailee4266 AGREE
That is relevant because what Saint Columbo considered when video started. An irony that he admires this particular song and its lyrics and smokes weed same time. James is an alcoholic being an author of one of best anti drugs songs ever. Life is complicated. Just this.
Doesn't change how I feel about Mr hetfield.. we all have demons and probably deal with them in the wrong way. But hetfield has given so much and still is. That we cant judge him let alone anybody else...
It's about the music.
But irony can make you look silly. That's why hindsight is a great thing
