There was an interview between youtuber Underthemayo and this game's director: Fredrick Olsson. The director explained that the Stalker is attempting to worship the forces of the other world, however, it takes place in the chapel because the Stalker is likely confusing this new dark presence with his own Christianity. In confusing both ideals, the Stalker uses the holy chapel as it's place to prop up his gruesome effigies. You can go to 52:28 in the interview to listen.
Imagine Thomas Grip and gang huddling around a single monitor, each with a pencil and a scrap book in hand, with cold sweat running down their cheaks as they navigate from video to video...
I remember how during the development of a few valve games one developer had what everyone else called "The nightmare folder" or something like that, that was just filled with pictures of diseased flesh, injuries or corpses and how they tried using some of those as reference for the gore in Left 4 Dead but ironically it looked less realistic than the gore used in the final game Its highly suspected it was from this guy's folder that the infamous 'burnt corpse with a real burnt corpse face texture" came from
As a ghoul it's innate purpose would be the production of vitae. My guess is the chapel scene was deliberately to increase the terror of the survivors. Seeing the obvious desecration of a holy place would be terrifying. It means the Beast can think.
The Chapel was the Beast's nest, and ghouls-for all the transformation destroys their humanity- still have their sense of humour, a sadistic one nonetheless.
the ghouls are very sadistic and cruel too. they not only produce vitae as a function but they enjoy it also. I believe lambert prior to fully becoming the beast talks about how he is very excited and eager to inflict suffering
17:20 It's not pure instinct. The Beast didn't fully lose his mind and memories. When Lambert went on the patrol, he was injured and no one came to help him, no one really cared. (except Henry) Maybe it's some kind of vengeance?
If you listen carefully you can sometimes hear him say a distorted "blood on my hands!" when he's in the walls. Coupled with his reaction to the rabbit toy, Lambert is definitely still in there somewhere.
The beast snaps Henri's neck, killing him instantly instead of ripping him to shreds, this means that there's still Lambert within it, it recognizes it's former friend giving him a quick death.
It's interesting how they reused assets from Rebirth to create the numerous corpses in the Bunker, Andrew Erskine's model turned out to be useful after all.
Well the Bunker started off as a DLC for Rebirth that eventually outgrew the initial scope so the Bunker using Rebirth assets seems only logical In fact you can find Rebirth assets all over the place, with several asset packs residing in the Bunker game folders, even though they ended up without use I would even go so far as to claim that since Rebirth at one point was meant to feature a large enemy within a more open space called the "city monster" that the Bunker beast has it´s roots from there as well
Imagine how much more of a psychological horror this game would be if we were to have the opportunity to interact with all of these fallen soldiers while they were all dying one by one..
Holy shit I knew these models were gory in game but to see them on full display in the model viewer...yikes! Stafford was the lucky one to get sniped. Did you know that one of the severed heads on the altar is actually Webb's from Amnesia Rebirth? In fact his head seems to have been used as the base for many of the dead soldiers', Stafford included.
Indeed, poor Jonathan has transcended through space and time His head is used for Pastor De Rais, Q Friloux, Stafford and a fourth unused corpse which was supposed to lay under a sheet
What's worse is that is very likely that the beast mauled them to death while they were still pretty much alive, so they would've had to live through being torned apart until they were taken over by blood loss and shock. By the way, nice to see you here, your videos made me get into half life and I'm very thankfull of that.
Wow he absolutely mauled those guys. Some of them are missing entire chunks of their faces, being horribly disfigured beyond recognition. A shame you didn't show of that one body with the head ripped off and entrails hanging onto the floor. But still a good look at the atrocities committed within the bunker
It should be among them, in total there are 8 Corpses, but only four truly unique ones, the remaining ones are variations with interchangable features of the previous four, the heads are unique though there are also the burnt versions of the corpses but the video was already getting quite long, so...
@@umukzusgelos4834 ah the hanging entrails are a separate model then i assume? It's one of the bodies in the chapel on the right side if you face the altar i think
Eesh, the damage done to the bodies are pretty detailed and gnarly, wonder if they had to use real life examples of injuries or mutilations as reference. Definitely a bunch of terrible fates and undignified deaths to have, especially for soldiers, probably wished that they met their end on the battlefield as opposed to what the beast did to them, but at least you can say Farber’s sacrifice wasn’t totally in vain as it prolonged Boisrond’s life long enough for him to give Henri his revolver and the information in how to get out which was a huge help for him.
only to end up deeper underground and then into enemy turf. given the openness of the ending, i can only hope he got out. pity the story didn't have Lambert flee with the Officers, and then come back for Henri out of guilt of leaving him behind - just as Henri went looking for Lambert out of guilt of rigging that game of dice (another soldier would have been with Lambert that night, explaining how the monster came to be). they would have left the other in trouble, but then come back to help.
i wonder, the early transformations caused L, to turn into a ghoul, but not fully the beast,? or fully in the stalker and back to human, until july 18th?
I suppose his situation is similar to Yasmins, who did not have her entire body altered completely but eventually had a violent fit during which she mauled and killed almost an entire village´s worth of people
Long time gore viewer here, those models are eerily similar to real life examples of human gore. I wonder if the devs did their research or its just coincidence.
Every single video I’ve watched about this game always mentions the “bayonets” in his chest. Bayonets are far smaller than that. That’s an officers sword. It’s the swords that men would wear at their sides in ww1. That’s way too long to be a bayonet.
How did it take several days for the Beast to murder basically everyone in the bunker? Sure it sounds way scarier/creepier if you are told men were being picked off one by one day to day, but it doesn't make sense to me. Wouldn't it make more sense by the second day a general panic and a subsequent massacre to break out once the creature just walked out "into the open" and gutted someone in broad daylight before all hell broke loose whilst Henri was in a coma?
Well as far as I´m aware, first came Reynard who was picked off during the night, then Farber who shot it during Mass and after that I believe all Hell did indeed break loose. The Officers left in a Hurry and blew the exit behind them, the remaining ones were then trapped and fled into all directions such as Chanard, Delisle, Tremblay, etc. Stafford wanted to exit through the Pillbox, got shot, Pastor De Rais probably sought refuge in the chapel - got crucified, Friloux seems to have survived a close encounter but then bled out in the administration block and Boisrond managed to survive just long enough to meet Henry before meeting his fate, unknowing it was Lambert who at that stage seems to kept fading in and out of consciousness with his final victim seemingly being Tremblay near the radio before he lost his marbles completely
The beast generally hates lights and only goes out if provoked and it also does feel pain when getting shot at. It’s stated that the men assembled into patrols to try and kill the beast but it proved Ineffective and just led to the men being slowly picked off after a while. That’s when the officer lost hope of killing the beast at which they all meant to the entrance of the bunker where sealed the exist trapping both their men and the beast in the bunker. That’s when everything truly fell apart as everyone was thrown into a panic, allowing the beast the perfect opportunity to wipe everyone out completely…and later henri awoke only to find out what happened during his coma
Interresting, apparently despite not being able to fully control himself anymore, he at least try to eliminate henri fast enough by breaking his neck (henri death scene where the monster catches him from behind and if henri is not fast enough to climb the ladder) instead of doing what he did it there...
he has a few more gruesome executions, like when he catches Henry under a table or inside the little vent in Soldiers Quarters he will grab his head and bash it into the ground until he is dead, also Henry dying by being pulled into the Holes is also quite painful from the sounds he makes these carcasses were also exposed to the Rats who dealt additional damage to the bodies post mortem
