I absolutely love Jensen Button, & I'll never forget that legendary drive he done winning the world F1 title. He was one of the F1 characters and I personally think we need to bring to the circuit more people like him. Great interview Chris.
Absolutely fantastic interview, both legends. Could listen to hours of these two together, no bullshit. Sounds like they both really enjoyed the interview.
Love this podcast thing I discovered today, thanks Chris! Now I can distract myself whilst working because I don't have to stick to a screen watching you go sideways all the time.
TG season fianle, then car pervert, now podcast with JB. Chris' been busy this few weeks... Hope he's not gonna disappear for a few months. Please keep the contents coming Chris
Love what you do Chris. Just started watching the latest Top Gear series for the first time since the big boys left after your interview with Jonny (which was brilliant). Really, really enjoying it.
Great interview Chris and Jenson.... prefer watching/listening to these podcasts to watching TG these days... its about proper cars and awesome people. Keep them coming Chris
The 6R4 is designed with a normally aspirated V6 engine. It is basically a Rover V8 engine with 2 cylinders removed, along with some elements of the Cosworth DFV. The fuel injected engine, as well as the radiators, are mounted at the rear of the car where the back seats would be in a standard MG Metro.
I wonder if someone his dad knew fitted a Judd V10 into one? It's the only reason i can think of for such a glaring mistake. As you say obviously they were V6.
I think he's confused himself there, definitely V6 (which was already crammed into that tiny chassis) I doubt a V10 would get anywhere close to fitting.
Jenson Button is such a nice guy, great job with this one. Anyway I'd like to see James May or Andy Wilman feature in one of these podcasts, they are great lads and quite important ones at least in British car journalism
About 15 years ago, I was at a wedding in the South of France (Villa de Rothschild). I was staying at the Hotel Columbus and was at breakfast the morning after. All of a sudden a part of the restaurant was closed and in walks Jensen Button with some gorgeous girl. I just sat there and thought...”the life of an F1 driver...what a lucky bugger”. However you don’t see the years of hard work prior. Great interview Chris 👍🏻
Totally totally understand the simplicity of just putting the mic down and talk w/o a camera in the face all the time (how podcast were meant) but for this conversation, it wouldve been solid if there was visuals as well. Great insight between these two!
I have a vague childhood memory circa1985, which means it could be utter bollocks, of Jenson briefly racing BMX at a meeting at the Warminster BMX track.
I think he's getting confused somewhat, it was a 3.0 V6, a proper cut and shut job from a V8, technically cut 2 cylinders off (the prototype at least was quite hacky). It was made by Rover and desgined by a cosworth engineer. However I think he MIGHT be getting confused with the Jaguar XJ220, which was originally spec'd with a proper V12 and most people were expecting it to be somewhat of a road going version of the XJR-9, which had raced in Le Mans a few year earlier which was a V12, but in the end they used the MG 6R4 engine, bored out to 3.5 litre and strapped a couple of turbos to it, so he might be getting two stories mixed up and the wrong way around.
Brilliant Podcaste Chris. Question, I have a 2010 BMW E92 M3 LCI, Manual low km's. I've considered moving it but want something that is fun, a great drive and i don't care necessarily for outright speed. Would be great to get your thoughts.
Im havijg a child in april.... we car calling it jenson.... i hope he sees this.. as its because he is my favorite... i have 3 favorite humans.. jenson button. Chris harris and guy martin...
Judging by the instant backpedal he didn't know haha After the black one you've got to try something new and it definitely grew on me as I was watching the Jonny interview. Maybe Gentian blue but I'm not sure the Touring had that as an option.
The 6 r 4s in rallycross was never 10 cylinder, they where 3,5 v6s na and the turbo ones where where the same engines but the cc was down to 2.4 l, they made up to 700 bhp.
He’s a bit of a lightweight on the technical details, surprising given his dad built engines. fisichella said button was picked because he looked like he could have been in a boy band, some truth in that I think. However, he’s made good with what skills he has in life, $$$$$ in the bank.
Age handicap is ageist, surely, cone on lads. Real racers racing has racers; like Valentino Rossi (41), McGuinness (48), Rutter (48- has beaten Buttons and is not a fan :/) and so on... Get racing lads. Its not golf.
Absolutely brilliant, relaxed interview. Awesome work, chaps
I was so excited when i saw this pop up and wasn't disappointed at all. Chris and Jenson are two of my absolute motoring icons/heroes

What a brilliant guy, Jenson that is, and what a brilliant interview - well done Chris
This is such a great conversation. Jenson is a really interesting guy. Thanks Chris.
Interviews with big drivers are the best. I love the humble beginnings.

Apparently we're getting CHOC YT channel back!

How is this channel not bigger... its awesome!!!! Keep up the great work and the amazing guests!!!
Fantastic interview, loving Jenson's comments on Baja and F1 (esp. on Lewis and how he's improved) - excellent work Chris.
Love what you do Chris. Just started watching the latest Top Gear series for the first time since the big boys left after your interview with Jonny (which was brilliant). Really, really enjoying it.
I've been a fan of both Chris and Jenson for a long time. This is all I'd hoped it'd be.
A honest and interesting conversation between two genuine guys...
Great Chat!! - you guys are awesome, honest, straight up ... brought a real smile to my Sunday Morning...... 👍🙂
Love Jenson! Always comes across really well. Great interview guys, keep up the good work.
Great interview Chris and Jenson.... prefer watching/listening to these podcasts to watching TG these days... its about proper cars and awesome people. Keep them coming Chris
Think this has been my favourite episode yet, and that's saying something! I want to see that Baja team!
Chris's shriek of horror at Jenson for selling his F40 is hilarious 22:50
Madness
Thanks Chris and Jenson, good show and look forward to more of these.. ✌🏽
Really enjoyed this Podcast, showed how JB is still one of us. Spends as much as he earns just like the rest of us. Good lad. 👍👍
How have I only just discovered this Podcast!! Busy week ahead!!
What a great interview, 2 greats, I'd love to see them in a car with Chris teaching Jenson to drift, the comedy, TEEEHEHE
Can’t think of a better way to christen the first day of lockdown than this. Thanks guys.
Had me laughing out loud at some points - brilliant (spending + cars) - honest (previous managers) - down to earth... superb 🏁
Another fantastic episode. If You Tube were still sending notifications, I'd have listened sooner.
Excellent interview! Love your work, Chris!
I had this on through my headphones while jogging, absolutely brilliant.
Thoroughly enjoyed that. Had me laughing out loud. Great stuff, thanks!
Such an easy listen; JB is a great interviewee with no pretensions - hope the two get to do the Baja
*Excellent, enjoyed the chat, thanks* 👍👍
Thanks guys, awesome conversation!!
Didn’t want this the end, great work Chris
I could listen to these two for hours.
That was a treat, really enjoyed it. Cheers!

So glad they did another one 👌
Best interview. Thanks Chris.
2 of my favourite car guys. Love this 👍
Another great listen 👍 Jensen just seems so normal, he’s one of us 😂
Absolutely chuffing mega chattering....more more more please👍🏼
@33:50 I think the V10 Metro 6R4 Jenson mentioned must be a mistake? Can’t seem to find any info anywhere.
I wonder if someone his dad knew fitted a Judd V10 into one? It's the only reason i can think of for such a glaring mistake.
As you say obviously they were V6.
@@kmc7355 good thinking, seems like the most realistic scenario, what a thing it would be!
I think he's confused himself there, definitely V6 (which was already crammed into that tiny chassis) I doubt a V10 would get anywhere close to fitting.
Best thing I've listened to this week.
Oh get in, Layer Cake reference at the end too. Brilliant.
Two good chaps.loved it
Love how the fact that jenson mentioning the fact that he occasionally beat hamilton has triggered some of his fanboys
My Favorite ever F1 driver!
Jenson Button is such a nice guy, great job with this one. Anyway I'd like to see James May or Andy Wilman feature in one of these podcasts, they are great lads and quite important ones at least in British car journalism
The clue is in the name 6 for six cylinder R for rally 4 for four wheel drive , but I will allow you Jenson for being a Don🏎
Excellent interview, well done
J.B. you are my hero. Love this interview, you've made my day
What a top lad - really enjoyable interview.

what a way to get to work, stuck in traffic.
my workers will never know why i am smiling so much.
This needs to be filmed with JB talking us through his car collection.
Great interview, thanks.
Loved this 👍😁💪

Jenson starting with the F1 driver excuses 😂love it. Great pod cast.
love Jenson
You guys should be co-hosts of top gear! Amazing!
You can hear how much Jenson loved his dad and lost his best mate. Cheers.
Jen son’s dad was a cool guy when interviewed also a great rally driver
John drove rallycross .....he was a great driver
@@catlife2070 I realised after I had missed the cross never mind.
Defender X is an i6 not a V6, Jenson! As usual guys, a fantastic listen
Brilliant, loved this! :)
I have a vague childhood memory circa1985, which means it could be utter bollocks, of Jenson briefly racing BMX at a meeting at the Warminster BMX track.
Please can you film these podcasts, Abit like the Joe rogan experience. it would be good to get the visual with the audio.
we really need video also chris please !!
cannot find a v10 6r4 anywhere online, assume this is an error?

DanteICE not quite true, it was designed as a V6 but is a relative of the Cosworth DFV.
Great conversation
Great interview
Good interview

Jenson is a class guy
Jenson is a legend period. Completely unrelated topic Niko Rosberg is now an influencer......
32:41 John Welch. If you've not seen John Welch's Escort, you owe it to yourself.
That was fantastic

Great stuff
Bob Neville episode needed!!
Haha I had no idea JB was from Somerset. The way he says ‘bloody’ is 100% Somerset.
Look on TH-cam for jenson driving at frome ....he drove his f1 car up the high street in Frome .... his home town ...he is awesome
"I can't believe somebody's bought a touring in yellow!"
I don't know if that's perfect hyperbolic sarcasm or he really didn't know it was Chris'. XD
Judging by the instant backpedal he didn't know haha

Video please Chris
Great conversation and I don't even follow F1
CH " You are a world champion but we share the same weaknesses about road cars, you can't help buy shit like me "
JB "Ehmm yeah..."
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austin_Metro#MG_Metro_6R4_rally_car Sorry Jenson the 6R4 was a V6 not V10.
Good enough for an XJ220
39:00
Jenson button is cool
Just set up a phone for video for christ sake.
The only negative here is that there are too few of these podcasts 😇
Ring Robert Kubica next time you run the Baja..
Can you tell Hammond to keep his gob shut.
Prat
May the remainder of your hair be with you.
V10 6R4, nah mate.
confirmed BS? I cant find anything online lol unless there was a 1of1
Chris Harris, Jenson Button and Daniel Ricciardo at Bathurst, except V8 Supercars are pretty much crap now that Commodores and Falcons have gone.
V10 in a 6R4....I don't think so Jenson...!! Ha!
