@@darkirondieselYeah dude 100% the governor springs were a night and day difference, I think that’ll be your insane jump in power. You can hear the turbo on the dyno just bareeely getting into spooling and if you had 1k more rpm to spool it though I definitely think you’d make way more
Add a couple gallons/liters of Dex 3 trany fluid to your fuel mixture, it should lower the octane level and bring it closer to the cetane rating of the diesel fuel, similar to how black diesel fuel is made. My wife did that once where she added 8 gallons of gas to our LBZ duramax but caught her mistake before she full tanked it, I went out and added 2 gallons of ATF and topped it off with diesel, here we are 60K miles later with no issues.
@@darkirondiesel I'm in a similar predicament, but 6.0 gallons of gas was added to the tank Its a 36 gallon fuel tank on the truck. Do I add 2 gallons of ATF and top off with diesel????? its a 2016 GMC LML with 50,000 miles
I accidently put a 1/4 tank of gas in my half tank of diesel and it ran ok, I just had to let the pressure build up in the fuel pump longer or it wouldn't start. I just kept adding diesel every chance I got and additives, it's been a year and she still runs fine.
Thanks man, the goal is to start having weekly uploads with content like this. I’m slowly phasing out of the “how to” videos although I will still post the odd one here and there.
Fun Stuff!! You need some Governor springs in that thing!! can hear the turbo barely coming up when it defuels well before 3000rpm. Put some 5k springs in it with that turbo and the timing it already has, should be a ripper. Keep it up!!
Im currently filming it now, just have to wait for the right temperature days to do the cold start comparisons. -10,-20 and -30 are the temperatures I’m using.
Get rid of the single turbo go compound turbos. Get a set of 4k gov springs deeper rack plug do the mods to the afc housing I would also check for boost leaks
I’m going to do that but I’ll do like 6 different brands of fuel. Once I install my fass I’ll do it because I can just suck from 5 gallon pails instead of the fuel tank.
You can literally do the mods yourself, I just did my 2018 F350 dually on the road in front of my house in December with no ramps or lift or any fancy tools. Just a curb to give me enough space to slide under the truck and the parts. 7 years of rust and Canadian weather under that truck and I got it done in under 3 hours tops in the freezing weather. You just need to be motivated enough and prepared for everything before you do it. The videos he puts out are awesome, between these videos and a few others I was able to do all of the work myself and I am only a DIY mechanic nothing special. If it's your daily driver make sure you have everything you need before you start because 1 broken bolt could shut you down for a few days while waiting for parts. I left my EGR on the truck but disconnected because I didn't want to deal with a possible broken bolt head on my daily driver ( Powerstroke guys know what bolt I'm referring too). She runs great now with the SOTF tune and support I got from my tuner company.
Wouldn’t need so much brake clean if the Canadian government didn’t ban the original formula lol brake clean is basically compressed water at this point

I think this power mod made Hank Hill cry... pro pain Peter, ah no Lois that wasn't till next time, Ahahaha, ~ uhahaha... diesel vs mineral spirits. add mineral spirits and wax block to blender, blend for 5 minuets... add to next fuel up.
Hey man is it stock gov springs?? If so it’s de fueling at 2800rpm not allowing the turbo to light all the way up. Put 4K gov springs on it and lift before 4K. Unless you put valve springs in it. I’m guessing that’s your horsepower problem
I ordered a ez lynk for my 2017 6.7 powerstoke and my sotf switch has a black, blue and red wire. And I noticed in your video you only had a white and orange one! Did I get the wrong one or how do I connect it?
There are multiple different types of SOTF switches, the Orange/Orange white switch is the fuel temp switch. That's what I have on my 18 F350 and it took about 2 minutes to install with a pin connector directly to the factory connection once getting it through the fire wall. It gives you a cleaner look because you pin out directly to the factory wiring, no splicing involved or electrical tape.
My goal is to build my transmission so when I do up my horsepower, he can handle the extra load. I still tow with my truck not looking to have a racing vehicle just a good all-around powerful vehicle.
@darkirondiesel I was hoping you were going to set the timing at the same time as you repair the dowel pin because setting the timing is a lot easier with the timing cover off. The dowel usually falls out and gets jammed against the wall of the gear housing and cracks it, but I have heard of the pin getting caught in between the gears and total the whole engine. There's a lot of videos on how to fix it. The fuel system should be all replaced as well. LarryB’s 94-98.5, 12 Valve, Tank-to-Engine Marine Grade Fuel Line Kit fits Dodge Cummins. But if the truck starts real quick, no matter how long it sits, then you might be good for now. My 98 12 valve starts with one click, and my 96 12 valve needs a few extra rotations before it starts. They both have the LarryB's fuel kit, but my 96 has bigger injectors and delivery valves. Power driven diesel is a great place to get the most out of the p pump and get the smoke down to a minimum. Reach out to the guys at power driven diesel, and they will answer any of your questions.
i hope some of this is a joke. anyways i still like your video but you should be able to hit 400 hp with stage 1's and stock dv's with just pump tuning and some minor parts check your lift pump pressure check for boost leaks install 4 k gov springs install either a fuel plate or afc live and tune the afc housing whats your boost at?? As for the timing, i tried that pdd timing kit and the issue is you have no way of knowing what your timeing is truly at at the beginning, some pumps like mine are pin timed wrong thus this kit wont be accurate and also its very easy to move it a little when torqing the nut and you wont know it moved. you got lucky it ran so well. Get the dv/dial indicator style. Also you can check your timing with a timing light fyi with a diesel pulse tester, timeing light and indicator put on the dampener.
If I was going for 400 HP I wouldn’t have put an s369 turbo on it 😂 I’m making these videos to try to prove a point to guys that think “bigger is better” because it’s not, unless you do ALL the other modifications necessary which we are doing one at a time in these videos.
I’ve used co op diesel for a decade and never had an issue. I always pump my own fuel the only reason why I let them pump it this time is because I wanted to see if they took American money 😂
@darkirondiesel I'm a rig welder, and I have a diesel welder, and coop fuel is the only station near one of the sites i work at. Without fail, I get water in my welder at least once a month there. When I don't work at that site, I usually use petro canada or Shell and haven't had a single icing issue. Which is sad because my wife works for coop and I get a discount on anything from them.
Yes it can. They are only. 5x15. The "stage 3" tells you nothing about "how big" they are. 175 pump with lots of fuel pressure has the ability to make decent power. The reason the power is still so low is because there is no governor springs or dvs yet. The pump needs gov springs to fuel hard. Stock springs cannot fuel fast enough!
@darkirondiesel I guess rage bait was the wrong word. I'd expect you know that that turbo is just spooling up by the time the governor defuels. GREAT VIDEO!!!!!
Just throw a little two-stroke oil in that tank, it'll be fine. I've done it before
A+ commentary
Need some more pump tuning!
Once we add the fuel upgrades we will make a video messing with different degrees of timing to see where we get the best horsepower!
This is Canada ? They still have ppl filling your trucks that’s wild
Only certain gas stations
Excellent LFG
appreciate it!
You have to use at least 4k governor springs or it will always run like crap and never spool well. That is a necessity with that size turbo
