    Love your reaction at 6:52. It's so interestingly true to your own feelings. Besides the way you describing the fat tyre causing "gyro effect" so distinctive and clearly one of the best for what I've seen on youtube. Keep up the good work and best of luck to become one of the best "reviewers/spokesperson " for our EUC world.

    16X is my first wheel and had only ridden my friends innmotion V8 before the 16x. Mine came with the CYT tire. After hearing all this talk about gyro effect and people having to get used to that I was a little nervous that I would like it. Prob helped that I didn’t have much to compare to and that I mostly learned on the 16x but man, I love this wheel!! I completely agree that It likes a little forward lean and weight shift in the turn. The more I ride it, the more I love it! I can just rip this thing around and it delivers! One reviewer said it’s like you fight the wheel a little. I’ve ridden motorcycles for years and this wheel makes me feel right at home, leaning and shifting my weight in turns. It becomes rewarding when you get it down and super stable in my opinion.

    Wow! What an accurate and honest video. I own 4 wheels and have been struggling to fall in love with my new 16x. You articulated the issues and the techniques needed to tame it very accurately. I like the incredible range, the look of it, the lights and the audio quality. However, I am not very happy with the heavy weight and the general feel of it after two weeks of experience with it. While I frequently ride on gravel trails, grass, etc. I am not one to suit up in full body armor and race through the woods with my wheels. So I find that on sidewalks and streets, the wide tire is quite grabby and it scares you once in a while when it grabs grooves etc. I find it is a lot more tiring on the roads than other wheels
    . Not as relaxing and nimble as my 16S and 18L. It is so heavy that it's a real burden to carry it up a flight of steps. I've considered selling mine but, as you said in the video, there are times when the power and capabilities win you over. Maybe I'll try a tire change. Again, GREAT VIDEO and your mixed emotions about the 16X mirror mine!

    Awesome video! I also love the original tire as much as I hated it in the beginning. For me the gyro effect caused it to be more stable when riding at high speeds. The only reason I didn't keep the original tire is because transitioning from a gyro to a non gyro wheel requires some time to adjust. So I think if this is your only wheel, stick with the original tire and learn to ride it.

    If you ride motorcycles, specifically cafe style bikes, this is a natural way to ride. I've tried a few of these and found that my many years of riding motorcycles made this an easy transition for me. Now that I'm planning to purchase one I'll keep the tire issue in mind. That stock tire looks like it has a flatter profile. Like on motorcycles, tires are everything. They should give you options when ordering

    When o bought my Z10 it felt very strange to me and i did not like it, but after experementing with different tire pressure (now 28 psi) and riding it for about 2-3 weeks. I love it! Now when i ride the Gotway msuper it feels just as strange as i thought the Z10 felt in the beginning. I think i would like the 16X with stock tire.

    very nice and honest review of the 16X, the 3" tire is indeed a different approach and requires some adjustment of the rider, but i believe that once you get used to it it will become an appendage to the rider just like the thinner tire.

    Moral of the story: all things new seem awkward at first. But muscle memory is a funny thing. Almost gives us a bias because we think things should feel a certain way. Until we are trying something that does all the things it should but in a different way. Our initial response is usually uncomfortable and awkward. Until we build new muscle memory which makes it more intuitive. It all comes down to neural passageways and how flexible they are, weather we know it or not.

    I can't imagine how the loss of the more precise maneuverability of the 2.5" is something good. I see in your vid that you miss the 3", but IMHO you didn't explain quite well why. Do you feel the bumps and street imperfections less? Does it give a safer feel? Compared to the 18L or XL, which do you think is the most comfortable to ride the streets? Sorry for all the questions, but I am currently choosing between the 16X and the 18L/XL, having riden only on the 18 ones. Thanks and props for the nice vid!

    • @evXNYC
      @evXNYC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The stock tire gives you a more fun ride. Comfort and maneuverability are about the same, they just work differently. If you want a super long distance wheel get the 18XL (that was my daily wheel). If you want a totally unique wheel, thats fast, stable and comfy, get the 16x! best of luck!

    • @GROJota
      @GROJota 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@evXNYC thanks for the answer! Isn't the 16x's range the same as the XL though?

    • @evXNYC
      @evXNYC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gabriel Rossini de Oliveira Jota yes it is the same range, that’s why i tried to emphasize that the ride mechanics with the stock tire are actually an attribute on this EUC. Personally, i think the torque of the 16x is worth the purchase, however i don’t see this comfy on a serious long distance ride. The 18XL is much better suited for that.

    Hello thank you for your answer, but I bought my Kingsong 16X with the original CST tire which seems kinda slippery to me when I ride on tile floor, or on paved roads (I live in Paris). I wanna try to replace it by the Chao Yang tires. I trust Chao Yang because I already used this brand on my MSUPER 3 to have more stability. And obviously, Chao Yang is doing good job on MSUPER 3. As CST, Chao Yang also has a puncture protection. On your videos, you showed how to manage to make turns by using legs and body, it's very helpful, but could you please precise what kind of riding mode did you use ? Hard one or soft one ? The hard one is more stable in my opinion, but pedals are so rigid by the way.

    • @evXNYC
      @evXNYC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi there. What is the difference in ride feel on a less/no gyro tyre 16X versus a 18XL? And is there still a bit more Z10-ism when cornering at high speeds than the 18XL, or are they pretty much the same?

    • @evXNYC
      @evXNYC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheseusMinor so if you get a 16x with the chao yang tire they are now shipping with it’ll feel extremely close to the 18XL. But since it’s a wider tire (3 inches) it’ll feel stable and there will be a small trace of that z10 feel. But not enough for it to be weird. It’ll take a few days to get used to, and then you won’t even notice. Double check with your dealer which tire they are shipping with. I feel like it changes every month lol.

    • @evXNYC
      @evXNYC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      crosshair i weigh about 165 and i ride the 18XL at 40 psi. I would try higher first, then gradually let some air out to see what feels best. We often talk about the beach ball effect. If the wheel feels like riding a beach ball, it’s too inflated. But if the psi doesn’t feel like that, it could be your stance, riding style, etc making you experience wobbles. Def try different stuff and check out my video on 3 tips to be a better rider. Let me know how it all turns out. -M

Good that 16X riders actually have the choice, but I don't quite get why swapping one 2.5 inch tyre for another 2.5 inch tyre makes such a difference? Is it to do with recommended pressure? Or tread pattern?

    • @evXNYC

    Great video, I have had a very limited experience on the 16X and immediately notice a little bit of the Z10 effect, which in and of it'self it's not a bad thing I am just not used to it. Having said that my question is: have you had the chance to try out the MSX especially in the 100V version? Admittedly I may suffer from a Gotway bias but I am convinced that the MSX still reigns supreme and not just in terms of speed. The whole riding experience is still unmatched imho. It's a beast of a machine and is as sharp as a knife in terms of responsiveness

    • @evXNYC
      @evXNYC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jacopo i have ridden the MSX. The 18” tire is built like a tank and made to be like a steam roller over bumps. It’s a well rested wheel that has done well. But it’ll never be as nimble as any 16” tire. MSX is always a great choice!! Liking GotWay more isn’t a bad thing, there’s only 2 major companies and some people like one or the other. However I’m a fan of both. They both have their draw backs in different ways. For speed GotWay is the only way to go. For built quality and comfort, Kingsong is the way to go.

    • @jacopo125
      @jacopo125 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@evXNYC I will have to disagree on that. I believe that the 4 major manufacturers (gw,Ks,9bot,Inmotion) of EUCs are pretty much equal in terms of quality. They have all had their fair share of problems. The whole industry is in its infancy and companies like GW and KS can be considered mom and pop businesses. Ninebot-Segway is the only company on the market with lots of money since they backed up by the chinese technology giant Xiaomi but their unicycle segment is not their most profitable and even though their model Z looks stunning in terms of design, it is not necessarily the best engineered. My poin is that I believe that the distintion between Gotway being the speed king and KingSong being the quality king is false and largely attributable to marketing strategies.

    I just hit 1000 km on the 16X on the stock tire 🥳. As of this moment, I am the most experienced rider of the 16X by a wide margin. Take a moment to appreciate that folks.
    Spending 'an hour' on this wheel is not giving it a 'fair shot'. This dude completely missed out on appreciating the strengths of this tire, and expanding their riding skills. There is nothing wrong with that, but understand the reviewer prematurely dismissed before understanding - just like someone complaining that an airplane can't fit on a road.
    For a more balanced view of what to expect, you owe it to yourself to look at my day to day wheelog on the stock tire: forum.electricunicycle.org/topic/14918-kingsong-16x-reviewwheelogjournal-🐸/
    You'll notice I had exactly the same opinions on this tire early on - but I pushed through that adaptation phase, and now am thoroughly loving it.
    As for the CST tire: that's kind of old news. Eddiemoy has experimented with several better alternatives if you're going for the non-gyro effect that you're used to.

      I just went to 16x from 18L and I'm having a hard time getting used to it. As soon as I get over the 25/30 kmh on the asphalt I feel absolutely insecure, especially when turning. I hope it's just a fact of "acclimatization" to the new monowheel.

    • @evXNYC
      @evXNYC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      PN it may take time but I’d also check your PSI. I had to considerably lower my normal psi level. For reference, i used to ride at 40 psi on my 18XL, and now on the 16x, I ride at 30 psi. At 40 it felt like i was riding a beach ball that had a mind of its own. Maybe try 10 psi lower than normal. But if the wheel starts to feel too grippy or is dragging, pump it up 2-5 psi from your initial degrading. Hope this helps!!
