  • In this video we install some front rated 8000kg ARB recovery points to the 2021 Isuzu D-MAX. This is the process for all 2021+Before D-Max and BT-50. Before you hit the trails, recovery points should be at the top of your mod list (for pulling out others of course!). This pair from ARB are rated to a crazy 8000kg EACH and are a simple DIY install.

    😀 About VideoShowMeHow
    -----------------------------------------------
    ⏩ What's with the gloves?
    Not after any TH-cam fame here which is why I'm not in the vids - they're not about me they're about the how-to! I used the gloves for the first couple of projects I filmed which just happened to be messy ones and it kinda just became a thing - easy to spot my videos! If that's not your thing and you'd prefer to watch a face, all good, I won't be offended, there's plenty of better looking ones to watch already on TH-cam ;)
    ⏩ Where did this start?
    I really enjoy tinkering with different projects - they usually require a whole bunch of research and learning along the way. It's satisfying on doing a thing and standing back and going 'Yeah! Totally did that!'. I had a bunch of mates asking 'how did you know how to do that?' and 'I couldn't never do that myself so I thought; I need to start something where I can help others that might be thinking the same thing :)
    ⏩ What will you find here?
    The purpose is simply to make these videos as top quality and helpful as I can. They will always be free, there's ZERO agenda and the only motive is to try and upload what I would want to watch to help with that particular project. I'm also keen to keep building this little community and will try to answer all questions when asked - fire away :)

    No cutting of the factory bash plates on an MY21 required.
    Factory plastic bumper needs a small section cut though. I used a small gyprock jab saw and that worked a treat.

    They are not cheap but well worth the investment in a rated recovery points. I also did a Hayman Reece Xbar for my tray/canopy to raise the departure angle of the tow bar and recovery points

    Great video, thank you! Interstingly, the ARB Recovery Points for this vehicle provide a cross brace back to the sub chassis which locates the lower control arms, as opposed to the previous generation MU-X ARB recovery points which brace back to the main ladder chassis. In an event of a recovery at huge loads, would this elongate the lower control arm sub chassis and possibly cause wheel alignment issues?

    Awesome vid mate, thanks for sharing! Can I ask, why do you install 2 points (drivers & passenger side)?

    • @VideoShowMeHow
      @VideoShowMeHow  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's better to spread the load across both chassis rails on a front recovery (using a bridle strap) and it also gives extra options for more technical recoveries

    One thing I didn’t like with the ARB recovery points you installed is that I couldn’t see any clear markings detailing the rating. If being used by another person, it’s always nice to easily know what the rating is.

      They come with a plaque/sticker thing that details all of that you can put on 👍

    Hi Adam, I have installed a set of these recovery points to my MUX today. While I was doing it, I notice the oil filter is right above the driver side of the rear end of the recovery point as per video at 6:19. How is your oild filter change experience after installing these? Did you have to remove RH recovery point when changing oil and oil filter?

    • @VideoShowMeHow
      @VideoShowMeHow  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Doesn't impact it at all, oil filter is easily accessed from underneath

    How have you found the ARB recovery points over time? Im considering getting the arb ones for a 2023 MUX, and looks like its the same recovery points.

      Best out there imho, was very glad to have the extra strength (8000kg compared to most at around 4500kg) when on the Cape York Trip

    What’s the difference with using those recovery points compared to the ones on your bullbar?

    • @VideoShowMeHow
      @VideoShowMeHow  ปีที่แล้ว

      The ones on the bullbar aren't rated (bullbar was a prototype) so prefer having the recovery stuff 100%. Plus the arb 9nes are twice the thickness 😁

      Yep will both fit with factory bumper, may just need a slight trim under neath

      I would say so but would check with ARB 👍

    • @liang2512

      I checked with ARB today and the part numbers for these red points in the video are the same part for both MUX and D-Max. I'm getting a set soon.

  • @moikehunt8928

    Possibly a dumb ass question but here goes anyway. Is it necessary or recommended to have two recovery points on the front or would one suffice?

    • @VideoShowMeHow
      @VideoShowMeHow  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ideally you want one on each chassis rail so you can use a bridle (that centres the load) when recovering from the front. Can get away with one, ideally you want both for those big recoveries
