Silverado Dual Batteries

2013 Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4
Mongo put dual batteries in this truck shortly after he buy it. 8 years later it time to replace the batteries.
Mongo get 2 AC Delco batteries form the local Auto Value PN: 78DTG
The original ones in the truck are PN: 78DTPS
Mongo like the Dual Terminal Batteries (DT) they have a top lug and side lug for the POS and NEG terminals. This provides more options for adding accessories and makes dual batteries a lot easier!

WARNING - DO NOT connect batteries to the vehicle incorrectly, you could destroy your computers on your vehicle.
IF your vehicle is a 12v system and you connect 2, 12v batteries in series you could destroy the computers in the vehicle.
Most full size Chevy trucks have a second battery tray, already installed under the hood. (IF not then you will need to buy a battery tray for your vehicle) You just need the cables, terminals, p-clips or zip-ties, a second battery and hold down.
BEST PRACTICE - Connect the negative of 1 battery to the vehicle. Connect the positive of the second battery to the vehicle. This equalizes the load for the batteries.
IN THE REAL WORLD - If you have a properly sized cable connecting the 2 batteries in parallel there is no difference. Soo Mongo run a #1/0 copper cable between the 2 batteries. The main battery is connected to the vehicle as shown and the second battery is in parallel, all accessories are connected to this battery.
Mongo process: Install each battery. Then connects the 2 batteries together. Then connects the batteries to the vehicle. Finally put the brackets back in place. It best to reverse order to remove.
Mongo did not do that to show it not a problem but sometimes have to watch out for potential shorting of your tools to the body of the vehicle.
