If you're still tracking this car I took my cowl piece out between the hood vent and radiator. Helped more than I thought it would. Also did the race louvers hood vent but I think a lot of help with cooling came from taking that piece out. Seriously couldn't wrap my head around how it would work better but aj Hartman and race louvers did a wind tunnel test without and much improved. Free mod and you can always put it back. Cool car and glad to see you use it.
Hello and wanted to say that its great to see these track experiences what could you tell me on the manual transmission when you change fluids do you reapply the red thread sealant to the fill and drain plugs? Save the manuals. I'm also thinking of changing to redline fluid from the owm stuff
Hello again. I wanted to ask you what heat wrap your using for coolent lines on fuse box side of the engine? Is it a tape or wrapñ I wanted to wrap mine like you did for track sessions. Thanks again for the on track days
Absolutely love it! Subscribed. I would stick with amsoil atf as its thicker than d4 redline. d6 and high temp redline atfs are better for racing but they are notchy when cold.
Can I get access to the front cameras by removing the skid plates? Mine are pretty junk and I need to replace them and I really don’t wanna remove the bumper. Thanks.
Yeah I think if you just have leafs and dirt in there the blower, air nozzle and vacuum works decent. However the rubber crap from track use is kinda heavy and that method doesn’t work as good for that.
What’s up sir, appreciate the videos. Just did my first trackday at homestead today. Car ran great. Rotates really well and predictable. Surprised by how easy it was to push. I was expecting it to be more of a handful. Maybe once I go into sport 2 or race it’ll be harder to manage. I definitely need to flush all the fluids and get some better trackday pads. Any recommendations for replacement b Pads? Stock Non-Z07 steel brakes. Also would you recommend getting the DSC controller? Any other suggestions welcome I.e. cooling mods, e85, tires etc. May make a trip up Sebring soon, once I know the brakes are up to snuff. Thanks in advance 🤙🏻
I use Hawk DTC70 on the front and DTC60 on the rear. Very confident braking power and no fade. I leave them for the street as well, although I honestly don’t drive that much on the street. You definitely need to change out the brake fluid if you haven’t already. I use the Brembo HTC64. Sport 2 and race are not really that much of a handful but each mode up allows more rotation before kicking in. Sport 1 still keeps stability control which uses the rear brakes to assist in keeping the car pointing straight
I’m running the DSC controller but I only got it because I changed the springs to the z07 ones, my car is also non z07 from the factory. The car handles amazing even with the soft springs but in my case I was dragging the splitter on the ground under heavy braking so that’s why I changed to the stiffer springs. Not sure if you’ll have the same problem in a GS. The cooling mods I have are, I changed the main radiator to the OEM 2019 unit from the automatic z06 which is 2” thick. I wrapped the exhaust pipes next to the transmission and I installed the DEI heat blankets on the front catalytic converters.
@@Justa2L Thanks for the thorough response. Flushing the fluids next week and picked up the DSC controller too. Look forward to trying that out. Signed up for the trackday sessions at the next SCCA race in Homestead. It’s an FE6 Z06 btw, not a GS, so will keep an eye on the temps.
@@vigneshvivek364 ahh that’s a old school JDM thing lol ARC Cool Fins, it uses a “special” 3M double sided tape that’s supposed to allow heat transfer, I don’t think it made any difference…but looks cool!
Any tips on learning how to work on cars? I've tinkered with my Evo over the years and accumulated a lot of great tools, however I'm a bit nervous attempting to do any bigger tasks, like pulling the head and installing valve springs/cams. Do you normally use a shop manual as reference?
Whenever positive I get will reference the shop manuals. If I’m going to work on something I’m not familiar with I’ll first search online for a how too, a lot of times I’ll find someone that has done this in a forum and was nice enough to put together and post a how too. Sometimes you’ll get lucky and someone has done a how to video that you can follow along. Sometimes neither is available so I’ll ask around my mechanic buddies for help or advise. For me I started working on my cars because I couldn’t afford to pay a shop to do everything so I started with small things and worked my way up through the years. That’s also how I started tuning, slowly working on small things and learning along the way.
I guess it’s not as low as it seems, I do scrape on steep driveways but just barely. Also have to be mindful of how long the nose is so I purposefully don’t pull in far enough forward to avoid hitting the splitter when parking

You mean that duct that goes from the rad to the hood vent?

I have not but I think the next time I will. The red paste is almost gone but hasn’t leaked.

Honestly I can’t say that I’ve noticed a difference between both fluids on or off track.
The redline is easier to get though

I don’t know to be honest, mine doesn’t have the front cameras
I use a std yard blower and vacuum to clean out the debris caught in the front bumper/radiator "pocket"

How did u add those cooling fins to the oil cooler?

How do you keep from destroying your splitter? I'm scared to get one like that.

@@Justa2L you probably have front cameras, unless it's a 2015. Mine doesn't. I've already hit the poverty splitter a few times.
@@failingup4907 no I don’t have the cameras either 🤷♂️
whats on the bottom of your oil cooler?
That’s an ARC cooling fins, it’s supposed to draw heat away from whatever it’s stuck on. It’s a JDM thing that probably doesn’t work lol
