When The Stanley Parable came out, a lot of people asked us for more endings and more content.
We told them it didn't need more content, that it was fine just the way it was, that it already had the perfect number of endings.
What a sorry sack of lies that was.
We knew it. We knew it were lying and we did it anyway. We’ve carried that shame around with us for years, a burden weighing on every moment of every day.
Enough is enough.
It’s time to fix this, to unburden our shame. Let us give you our shame, for you to carry it around instead. We’re sick of it.
From the liars who brought you the award winning indie game The Stanley Parable comes The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, an expansion to the original game with more content, more endings, more whimsical adventures of the two best friends Stanley and The Narrator. Coming to PC and consoles in 2019.

Seeing Stanley actually like... react to the narrator? Looking for him when he hears him, running away and shaking his head, something about it is so... unnatural, but kinda cool

It’s ironic because the narrator will become just as trapped as Stanley
It's so jarring because the entire game you just subconsciously assume this character is "you" and just exists as your fill in in the game world... but his behavior in the commercials kind of jolts you with "Oh wait, Stanley is a person?? Like an actual person??" And I love it so much
EDIT: it also breaks the "We can hear the Narrator but Stanley can't, because we are breaking the fourth wall like the Narrator" theory that I never really understood to begin with. He addresses Stanley directly like... a lot.

@@drawingdragon EXACTLY. the whole point of the game is for us to see ourselves as Stanley…that’s why the “STANLEY” button in the epilogue hits so hard. but simultaneously, Stanley is an actual person. so for all intents and purposes, we’re just controlling him like a puppet. and that’s pretty fucked up, but i’m in love with the concept
Funnily enough I saw someone doing this while streaming the game recently... And I am doing it now because of it! Nodding my head, shaking my head... Strangely walking backwards in the escape route to find I didn't fall, I looked down and then fell. It's become a habit!

This is one of the very few instances where we can see Stanley acting on his own free will.
No input from the player, or the narrator. And he wants out.
He's hiding in a dark corner of the building in an office that's not his own. Stanley's office is 427 and he is in office 002.
That's 419 offices away, far from where the narrator would look. This part of the building is not even in the game.
Stanley even put cardboard over the windows to try concealing himself and he dragged a water cooler into his office so he wouldn't have to leave for water and risk getting found.
It also looks like hes been drinking a fuck ton of coffee, and of course he's trying to book a vacation out of this hell.

Also the first time I watched the trailer, I thought the Narrator was calling Stanley and Stanley was FOLLOWING the voice out the Exit like the Narrator was luring him into a trap... On second watch, it sounds much more like the Narrator is *full on sprinting down the corridor to catch Stanley before he escapes* and the thought of this disembodied voice eldritch creature sprinting invisibly down the hall after Stan is both hilarious and horrifying.

The broom closet ending was definitely the most emotional and expressive ending in the entire game.

This has some sort of Portal vibe on a whole new level. Specially when you realize the Narrator is kind of keeping Stanley captive, and Stanley is actually quite aware of the situation.

Considering the Stanley Parable was built as a Half Life 2 mod, it somehow doesn't surprise me that there's a Portal vibe to the game.

For what it's worth, you were my game of the year that year. You were also the first game I ever Let's Played with my actual voice in it. My mic was terrible and I didn't know what I was doing, but it didn't matter because The Stanley Parable is endlessly watchable in any form.
Honestly, I think that Narr calling himself "daddy" is kind of unsettling, because he is either belittling us, or being kinky as all hell; and then WE are the one he calls a pervert in the demo!!
