In the cycle of dark and light, one will always try to overpower the other. But which is preferable? The light? The darkness? Or is it the cycle that we must all accept? Yin and Yang. God and Devil. I absolutely love luna and her backstory. There’s so much depth to be explored about her experiences that wouldn’t fit in a kids’ show. I would PAY to watch a series about celestia and luna’s younger days before nightmare moon and then luna progressing into nightmare moon.

I know that the fandom loves Luna, and I do like her too. But I do prefer Celestia because her character's been given far more room to grow and express itself. I do like Luna, I really do enjoy her character in Luna Eclipsed. But it hasn't been given nearly enough attention. Celestia is the moral perfection in Friendship is Magic. She is the complete incarnation of good. It was her who had the courage to banish her sister for the good of her people, and it was her who knew that Discord could be reformed by Fluttershy. Celestia is a character with no moral flaws. At least, not anymore. We knew her pride had blinded to her Luna's emotions, but she learnt of that flaw, and erased it from her being, hence becoming a moral perfection. Luna does have flaws. And while this makes a character more interesting, it's all about the balance of Celestia being perfect and how little of Luna's imperfections we see. It all comes down to whether you prefer a highly developed character with no flaws a lot, or whether you prefer to be occasionally graced by a character with imperfections that can make them subject to learning lessons. If Luna was as developed as Celestia in any way, I have no doubt she would be used far more often than Celestia because she has the more interesting side of the two sister's story. I love Celestia. Second only to Rarity, she's my favourite pony character. But I also do like Luna. She's a character with potential. It just hasn't been tapped into. My top five characters is as follows. 1. Spike (that's a rant for another day) 2. Discord (he makes me smile constantly) 3. Rarity (also a rant for another day) 4. Celestia (just been covered) 5. Twilight (another rant for another day)

liz larsen Most of the time, I cant stand Rainbow Dash. I find her annoying, but I'm pretty impatient with people like that, and if you like her, I won't hold it against you. In my opinion, Fluttershy is the least good of the Mane Six because there's so little to her, and the messages and conflicts of most of her episodes are pretty predictable. Don't lie, the moment we saw the Ponytones, we knew exactly what was going to happen. I don't really have any problems with Derpy or Octavia, but I don't really care for either of them because- sure, the fandom's given them identities- but Derpy's only had one instance of speaking in the entire from what I can remember. And I don't think Octavia's ever been given attention in the show's canon. I don't mind how either of them are depicted in the fandom, but it's just nothing I'd write home about. Again, all my opinion.

This is the story of diana the moon child and leona the guardian of the sun. Its league of legends lore about diana's hate for her beloved sister. It was perfect for luna. :P
Actually in Diana's lore it never says she had any relation to Leona. That was all fan speculation.

I absolutely love luna and her backstory. There’s so much depth to be explored about her experiences that wouldn’t fit in a kids’ show. I would PAY to watch a series about celestia and luna’s younger days before nightmare moon and then luna progressing into nightmare moon.

Its been awhile since ive seen this...the nostalgia...
I know that the fandom loves Luna, and I do like her too. But I do prefer Celestia because her character's been given far more room to grow and express itself. I do like Luna, I really do enjoy her character in Luna Eclipsed. But it hasn't been given nearly enough attention.
Celestia is the moral perfection in Friendship is Magic. She is the complete incarnation of good. It was her who had the courage to banish her sister for the good of her people, and it was her who knew that Discord could be reformed by Fluttershy.
Celestia is a character with no moral flaws. At least, not anymore. We knew her pride had blinded to her Luna's emotions, but she learnt of that flaw, and erased it from her being, hence becoming a moral perfection.
Luna does have flaws. And while this makes a character more interesting, it's all about the balance of Celestia being perfect and how little of Luna's imperfections we see.
It all comes down to whether you prefer a highly developed character with no flaws a lot, or whether you prefer to be occasionally graced by a character with imperfections that can make them subject to learning lessons.
If Luna was as developed as Celestia in any way, I have no doubt she would be used far more often than Celestia because she has the more interesting side of the two sister's story.
I love Celestia. Second only to Rarity, she's my favourite pony character.
But I also do like Luna. She's a character with potential.
It just hasn't been tapped into.

liz larsen Most of the time, I cant stand Rainbow Dash. I find her annoying, but I'm pretty impatient with people like that, and if you like her, I won't hold it against you.
In my opinion, Fluttershy is the least good of the Mane Six because there's so little to her, and the messages and conflicts of most of her episodes are pretty predictable.
Don't lie, the moment we saw the Ponytones, we knew exactly what was going to happen.
I don't really have any problems with Derpy or Octavia, but I don't really care for either of them because- sure, the fandom's given them identities- but Derpy's only had one instance of speaking in the entire from what I can remember. And I don't think Octavia's ever been given attention in the show's canon. I don't mind how either of them are depicted in the fandom, but it's just nothing I'd write home about.
Again, all my opinion.
