- Luna's Future... certainly my favorite song of the whole show. And Aloma Steele is such an amazing singer. It's been almost a year since it was release and I did a remix of it a few days after it aired.
But today, to celebrate this incredible milestones we reached, to celebrate each of the 3000 subscribers of this channel, I decided to edit my previous remix of Luna's Future.
I improved, since then, and since it's my favorite song, I just had to do a proper edition of it.
So, I hereby present to you a song originally composed by the incredible Daniel Ingram and sang by the awesome and talented Aloma Steele, the 2017 edit of "Luna's Future".
Again, thank you very much for the support you brought me and for the kind comments you leave every time I release a new song. I woudln't have been this far without y'all so, again, thank you!

You know what’s funny, I never noticed Luna never ACTUALLY sang in the show until Luna’s Future was released, and then I realized all the songs I had ever heard that had her singing were fan made. It was trippy.
She sang in "You'll Play Your Part" in Twilight's Kingdom.

I actually am a big fan of this song, but this remix is important in my life.
It actually is one of my favorite songs, that's why it's so important.
I mean, a lot of people love this song, but no one fully understand what would had happened if windigos took over, there will be only snow, no ponies, no point in the show.
That's why the song is so dramatic.
The reason Luna sang it was because she was the closest character to do this, with no sun, it would be completely freezing, and no ponies.
Coincidence or not it's still amazing!

Luna has been my favorite character ever since I was a kid, but as I got older and forgot about mlp I still had a soft spot for her, so I recently re watched mlp and seeing this ep set her in stone as one of my favorite characters ever. I love Luna so much 💙💙

When do you plan to release your next music, and how many songs are in production?
I don't know if I will have the time to release a song this month (just got a new job, so I don't have that much free time anymore). Though, there's three collabs for the upcoming "Ponies at Dawn" album in June, hopefully. Another one in the work with 4EverfreeBrony, too. I'm also working on a 17 tracks album called "Historia" that I will release in 2018 (with a "collector" digipack edition). There's something with Prince Whateverer too that should be up soon on his channel I presume.
Ah, if everything goes well, I may work on a very unexpected collab soon, but nothing is 100% confirmed yet.
So, yeah, I have a bunch of tracks in production and I have a lot to do! :)

I love how no one mentioned that the melody of this song truly feels like an actual chaotic snowstorm.
Like it baffles me that with a few instruments that produce noise, you can also produce feelings/snowstorms. God I love the fundamentals of music.
3:25 has the vibes of some mortal soul having judgement passed upon them by a higher being, and it not looking good for them.

Well, TH-cam allows me to write more than 140 character :p so what I meant is that while for drums, harps, guitar, or in fact every keyboard-like instrument, you can keep doing what you already do, the velocity is enouth since the sound of the instrument is determined by the moment when the note is played. But, especially for wind intruments, this isn't true anymore. for example, compare the first 10 seconds flute from your piece to this: th-cam.com/video/aGdZ_NES7sw/w-d-xo.html it's not only a question of VST quality, if you listen carefully to what the flute player is doing, he's constantly changing the volume to follow the mood of the piece.
There is a similar problem with the string pads, one of the best composer known to use volume effects to induce emotion is Howard shore, listen carefully to what choir and string do in most of his pieces (it also works for wind instrument in fact): th-cam.com/video/u_LAG1RQkCs/w-d-xo.html
Basically, I think this is one of the thing most brony orchestral composers tend to negligate because "you know 90% of the audience won't realize it" but, 10% is a huge part anyway, and even if people don't know what is wrong, they can definitly feel the emotion induced by playing with expression / mod wheel, and this can only make your music better.
So don't get me wrong, you're a very good composer, you have an undeniable talent to make catchy melodies, and to orchestrate / harmonize these in a right way. But imo your tracks lack of emotion (I'm not the best for that either, but as a player in different orchestras, I can hear the difference pretty well). and it's not a question of real intrument vs VSTs, as far as I know, nearly every orchestral piece in the MLP series made by either Daniel Ingram of William Anderson were made with VSTs and they sound amazing as fuck. Idem for Melodic Pony pieces, listen to the amount of emotion carried by the strings and choir at the begining of Luna's Determination:th-cam.com/video/pp26Ozw0JbY/w-d-xo.html
I hope that you won't take my feedback in a bad way, the emotion carried by music is one of the hardest thing to get right for a composer and / or a musician, and I'm working on improving this in my compositions every day. I feel like this would make you an ever better musician and composer :)

Edit: I forgot one thing, when you're trying to map the expressivity of the instruments, imagine yourself as a conductor, what is the message you want to bring with your music, and how.
Thanks for the feedback and I think I understand what you mean by that. It is true that I almost never use velocity on my instruments. It's not because I don't know how to do it (I think a simple volume automation clip would be enough. Though I think I can modulate the expression wheel but the CC# automation has no name so it's hard to find), it's mostly because I'm lazy. x)
In that present case, I just tried to manage to make a better mix in the project I've made last year for Luna's Future (which was badly mixed, really, when I opened the project I said to myself "what the hell is this shit?!") and I didn't thought about playing with the wheel (sometimes, I just find the actual basic sounds alright).
So, yeah, I know what you mean and I will try to use that in the traks for my next album, Historia. Even though some of the track won't have it because either I find them already good enough like it is or because I'll have to redo the entire thing and, to be truly honest, I don't want to redo things. x)
Now, I said that I will try but I will not make it on certain pieces because some of them are just a burst of idea and just come out of my mind without even me thinking about it, that's my creativity. And when I start to think technically on my works, sometimes, I just lose my inspiration and don't know what to do anymore. And I hate comparing myself to others: it depresses me and I don't think I will learn by comparing something I made which is shit to something a god-like composer made which is great. Don't get me wrong, though, I know what I should improve even though sometimes I just absolutely don't know what to do to make my music sound better.
Also, I don't really consider myself as a good composer because I still have a gigantic amount of stuff to learn and I still make a lot of mistakes. I'm just a random dude without any experience in music theory who does music for a fandom. And I'm absolutely not a musician since I don't play any instrument. I think people just put me too high in their estim. x)
I don't really think it's an excuse but I want to deliver decent content (I didn't say good, I say "decent") on a comon schedule. If I have to work on that 50 hours more to put everything perfectly, I'll be as silent as Glaze and, at a certain point, it'll bore me and I won't find any fun in it. Yeah, I don't make a great quality music if you really know what a good music. And sometimes, I just like my music how it is, without modulation things, and even though I know there's a lot of flaws in my track, I can listen to it again and again, I don't know what's wrong with it.
But yeah, don't worry, for my most important track, I will _try_ to do it, if I have the time to do it (composing and mastering is easy, modulating is extremely long and frustrating) and if I smell the need to do it. Because, sometimes, I just think that the modulation isn't needed.
Anyway, thanks again for the feedback, I noted your advices and thank you very much for the support!
P.S.: "playing with expression / mod wheel, and this can only make your music better." I disagree. If you don't master it and don't know how to do it properly, it can "poison" your music.
It's me again, If I find a method that can give me some times (which means not having to always "create automation clip", "positionate", and module it at the nanometer), then I'll be more okay to do it in every track (even though I keep thinking that not everytrack needs it, depending on the style (you can't make a louder sound than its maximum loudness in the climax of an epic-orchestral track and if you put a max volume everywhere, you'll end up having a huge saturation)
I agree with you P.S. but I'm sure you can handle it :) Also, I don't know what soundbank you use, but most Kontakt banks either have it on CC001 or CC11, and for East West hollywood sries, the brass and strings have it on CC01, and the woodwinds have the vibrato on CC01 and volume / expressivity on CC11
Symphony Series for woodwinds and strings. And I remember to try it once before, and it was bugged as hell (or maybe because I'm dumb, which is possible too). Sometimes it moves two things at once for some reason or some weird stuff like that.
Actually, the default value isn't the lowest volume, so, playing with the mod wheel won't necessarily make it louder, in fact it's more a question of diminishing volume in strategical places than making it louder
Luna's Future and Open Up Your Eyes go hand in hand with how each are orchestrated and sung, I wonder why no one has combined them yet.

This is a lovely 😊 rendition of Luna’s Future from the MLP S6 episode “A Hearth’s Warming Tail”. A wonderful episode to watch with family around the holidays. However this was before we got the Best Gift 🎁 Ever special. Not often Musical Episodes work so well as stand alone episodes. Especially, this one with multiple songs sprinkled throughout. Yet, the end of S3 felt a little bit disjointed and rushed (episode 13, Magical Mystery Cure). Keep up the good work!

An amazing tempo, the orchestra is feels as if this is a part of the actual singer. That, and the beating of the drums is just spot on un-nerving; in a good way. I heard a little bit of celtic pipes before fading into violins. Its just. Spot on. Especially the chorus at the end.
It's nice ,but ... I rly miss the solo from the first version .. at 2:04 I was like "Here it comes ^^" and it didnt happen x) Guess I just got too used to it.
Well, I wanted to change it since it has some issues (the high notes were saturating a little bit) and I made it a lil' bit different. But, that's right if you love the first version more. ^^
