For what it's worth, I'm getting my first tattoo soon after years of working myself up to it soon. I'm having a guy I've known basically my whole life do it and he showed me the equipment on the day I went to plan it out with him. As someone else who is not a fan when it comes to needles and my body making contact, him showing me everything and how it works really helped me getting over the anxiety and made it possible for me to come to grips with the whole thing. If you ever figure out what you want and that kind of thing, I definitely recommend going to a shop and asking to see the gear or maybe even watch them do a tattoo, it may help you get passed the whole needle thing like it did for me.
