Nice review! I just counted, and I currently have 18 various tension tools, and 20 various picks in my PXS-14 case. a bit snug in there, but they all fit and the case zips right on up no fuss no muss👍
After the Service in the 80’s I took a job as “Armed Security” (yes I know I was a dumb guard) on a Combined Arms Base in California. Anyway dispatch called me to meet my watch Sargent, when I arrived my Sargent and a uniformed Sargent from local PD were there. They both looked frustrated and couldn’t open this car. My Sargent asked me if I could open it, I looked at the car and said yes. I asked the officer if he had a slim Jim, he went and retrieved it and handed it to me. I put it between the rubber and glass, felt around and jerked up and the officer was mad and asked me how I knew how to do that? I looked at him smiled and said I’m Infantry and my First Lt was S4. He wasn’t happy but thanked me anyway. Officer, I don’t know what Department your with but in California at that time any lock picking equipment was a possibility of a first degree charge. Couldn’t take it anymore so I moved, glad I did! God Bless you as well as all the others putting out this kind of content!
Great kit, I still have most of mine! I left my brother alone with them for about 20 seconds and returned to find the whole tip of the city rake broke off inside an abus padlock!! That was the end of that padlock & pick... 😨😨😊😂 It's certainly one of the very best options for someone starting out. Good job man 👍👍
Thank you 😃👍 I wonder if the key extractor would’ve been able to get the tip of the rake out? It’s things like this why I’ve ordered a cheap set of picks that I’m going to finish and then have as loaners for people who want to give it a shot 😜👍

Kc Mac it certainly will!! The only extras from sparrows to start picking with that I really recommend are the heavy bars and the Tron. Those, plus the PXS-14 will get you into almost anything! Go by your local Habitat Restore and look for some cheap Kwikset locks and ask your friends if they have anything laying around, that’s how I got started!

The only issue I have with this is the thickness of the picks. I pretty much exclusively pick paracentric euro cylinders because that’s what I pick at work, so it makes sense to practise on the same thing for fun at home. Wish they did it in 0020ths or 0018ths. I’ve ended up using the sparrows bomba royale as my everyday carry, which is great but misses having a city rake. Good review anyway. Funny to see how similar our locksport journey start was. I wonder how many people were brought in by BosnianBill and LPL...
Towards the ends of their lives, I managed to sand down the hooks to about 21ish and they worked pretty well in the key ways I had at the time. I keep a couple of Southord Max hooks in my EDC that work ok for the more paracentric ones I run into. I imagine that many many people owe their start to Bosnian Bill lol 😃 even LPL got started watching him!

Haha! Yes, I actually didn’t touch my deep hook for the first four months I was picking because, several review videos said that a deep/postal hook was useless 🙀 once I did sand it down (albeit a tad much) it was the best hook I had for any American style keyway. At least until I broke it 😭😭
I would of filed it down anyway because a month later my main pick broke. I agree with all the changes you would do to the kit. Its an old kit and they are not going to change it now.
I bought this like 3 months ago, i thought it was cool that i got a extra like plastic, but recently i relized that i didnt get the half ball, do you know what i should do. Since im sure they wont believe me
If you're honest and tell them you just realized the set was missing a pick, they may send you one, or at least try to make it up to you. Seems pretty logical to me that if you're new to this, you wouldn't realize something was missing until you saw other people with the same set. Without youtube you may have never realized this. Good luck to you.

Had that kit too. Modified the deep hook to a shallow hook (on accident I wanted another standard hook)
