Located in the small town of Norridgewock Maine is this off grid cabin with mountain views and over 48 acres of private forestland. If your dream is to own a piece of Vacationland, with no neighbors in site, this is your property.
The main cabin is 20 x 24 with an open floor plan and one bedroom on the first level. The cabin also has a sleeping loft. The heating system is a propane stove. There is a 8 x 20 deck overlooking Little Bear Mountain to the east. The siding is the traditional board and batten, and the metal roof will take care of the snow removal for you.
If you need more space, there is a log cabin bunk house which is 12 x 16 and has a 8 x 16 deck. This is privately located about a hundred feet from the main cabin.
If you enjoy ATVing and snowmobiling, you have access to both trail systems. Go spring brook trout fishing in nearby Martin Stream, or if you are looking for bigger waters, the Kennebec River is about 15 minutes away from the property. If you enjoy boating, North Pond and East Pond are both about 20 minutes away in the town of Smithfield.
The elevations on the property run from about 250 feet to 380 feet above sea level. The property has mostly a hardwood forest.
Boston is an easy 3 ¼ hour drive which is mostly I-95. The closest city is Waterville Maine about 15 minutes way. This is a great recreational property.
I fell in love with Maine in the early to mid 1970s, when as a 18 year old kid, I was a Navy Aircrewman out of Brunswick NAS. I eventually completed college, earned a commission, and had a fine Navy career. Some of that career, I was involved in environmental restoration of Maine’s wetlands, anadromous fishery runs, and wildlife. My second career was as a federal wildlife law enforcement officer, and for part of that career I regularly patrolled parts of Maine, and later, I became a Chief of Law Enforcement, and Maine, along with 12 other northeastern states were my responsibility. I’m retired now, and live a bit further south in New England, but eventually, I’ll find my piece of Heaven a bit closer to the coast. Understandably, I spent so many years at sea that I’d prefer the coast. I most certainly do have to admit…..this property is tempting! And that view? The stargazing must be unimaginably outstanding! Thank you sir, for the tour!
Thanks for sharing.
I was stationed there and had a great time outdoors. I even canoed the Allagash River. After being stationed there I wanted more outdoors and ended up here in Alaska a few years after I got out. Even had a plane within 10 years after getting out. I was in VP-23 72-75 as an AX2.
@@Chris_at_Home Great comment, Chris. I was VP-11, AW2….1974-77. Thinking back on those yeas……how simple things were! And you ended up in Alaska? That’s an adventure in itself! In my civilian capacity, I ended up with the U.S. Fish&Wildlife Service…..I always wanted to do a detail in Alaska, but our postings up there were pretty isolated (except for the Regional Office in Anchorage), and with children and a wife with a career, it just wasn’t in “my cards”. Best of luck to you!
@@captaincoyote1792 I ended up using my electronics skills in the oil fields and then working for communications companies some that had me being flown all over the state in different types of aircraft and helicopters.
Thank you for your service! I've got 1 in the Air Force and HIS son is in a Navy SEAL. My Dad was Air Force, and Grandpa was Navy... We keep up the traditional 2 best branches! You are a gem! Thanks again!
Loved the drive into the property!(steamed cattail flowers & sumac lemonade!) Both building are wonderful. And the views😍! Someone is going to be very happy here. Thanks for the tour Pete!😊
Glad you enjoyed it Val, thanks for the likes!
Hi Val. I have yet to try cattail or sumac lemonade but its on my list.
@@petercarson7277 I steamed the cattail flowers & put on a little butter. Eat them like mini corn cobs. I usually harvest late May early June. You will love them!
Appreciate the history.Great job.
Thanks for watching Bruce!
What a great property Peter!
I love the offgrid living. If I ever won a good deal of money that is the best way to go. Lots of acreage so it will be private. Thank you for showing us this great property
Thanks for sharing!
Hi Rita. I live off grid and we started a series on our channel th-cam.com/video/jVgcLHcHONM/w-d-xo.html
any reason that it wasn’t finished , maybe tax reasons?
Beautiful property! Thanks for the tour.
Glad you enjoyed it
Wow 48 acres 😍
Nice listing, great price, well put together video. Awesome realtor!
Thanks for watching
Thank you Joseph. 😊
aye my late uncle is Benedict Arnold that’s cool history to know. I always watch y’all videos real funny to hear that on here haha big love
You actually admit that !!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks for watching John!
@@kookietherapy9398 lol... was thinking the same thing
great tour of a great property
I KNEW it sounded familiar............ from reading ARUNDEL by Kenneth Roberts!
Thanks for sharing.
It seems like they made a good foundational effort on the main cabin, but then just not pushing through the last 10% of insulation and finishing it up leaves me very perplexed for these things.
I thought the exact same thing!👍
A lot of ME properties are like that.
@@theresam567 Just happened to watch a video on La Paz, Bolivia, and Sue took the cable car up one mountain and asked why everything looked to be in such a state of disrepair. The woman said buildings only taxed once they are completed.
Beautiful Property
We agree!
This place really peaked my interest, until I saw the taxes. Way to high for this incomplete property development. Any tree growth program possibilities Peter?
That's a typo on the taxes. I am waiting for the correct amount from the assessor. It is in tree growth.
I live in southern NH....$ 2,500 is cheap money for 48 acres..Try $5,800 for 0.4 acres....City living is for idiots.
@@damnright4 spent time in both. Love both. Prefer city. By a wide margin.
I'd be happy with those taxes... beats the city
A dream come true.
Thanks for the visit!
Ok nice guy we shine 1.35
Excellent video
Thank you very much!
They barely got started on the interior and insulation then moved it?
No drywall, only part of the insulation, the ceilings are open and the eves are open so wildlife can just move in?
817 y like it my like, From is Azerbaydzhan and Tadzhikistan, and Uzbekistan, and Kyrgystan!!! Very Very good and nice
5:08 there’s tree that looks like it’s been rubbed by a buck. Now you have my attention.
nice one too
It seems everybody in Maine knows how to do a proper timber harvest!
In order to do a timber harvest in Maine you need a licensed arborist to conduct a survey and file a plan for the harvest. This ensures it's done properly with environmental impact considered.
It still looks like a hot mess to me
I couldn’t agree more. After cooking for a friend as he was honored as Maine tree farmer of year. I certainly saw the pristine forests of north woods in Presque Isle vs the horrendous clear cutting done in my home state of GA.
I keep looking to find my dream cabin close to or on a trout river etc. IF healthy enough I'd build it myself. How did they get away w NO Collar ties in Cathedral ceiling? Even looks as though the soffits aren't enclosed/insulated?? How far is river for fishing, is it on the property? Instead of building the extra cabin and decks for friends, you would think they would have put in a water source and finish insulating to make it year-round living.. These camp/cabins need to be all yr round for us buyers,, please. Any word on SABAE ( sasquatch) ? Or Any Cryptids? I am very serious asking you this...
Big Jim New Hampshire USA aka BOSTON STRONG
No outhouse?
Oh to have money, would be amazing
What area's of Maine do you cover? Do you list only properties with a structure? I have some land is Sabattus for sale.
only problem is no water and septic system
Not sure about Maine but, here in Tennessee that frog pond would be full of cotton mouths. I wouldn't let little kids go near it.... Nice place though. I like it a lot.
Then why would you call it a frog pond? Wouldn't it be a cotton mouth pond?
Here in Maine a frog pond is full of, you guessed it... frogs.
@@AZ-kr6ff It's still a frog pond. The cotton mouths are only there because they eat the frogs.... Note the part where I said "not sure about Maine" thank you for clearing that up for me & it was my pleasure to clear things up for you about Tennessee.
@@harryballzaky2674 Haha
Well hold on there, ol' Pard.
I wasn't actually being 100% truthful.
We don't actually call it a frog pond. We just call it a pond.
Let me ask you this, Tex... do you call a lake a "fish lake"?
@@AZ-kr6ff I don't have a problem with what you call your ponds or lakes but, the dude in the video specifically called it a "Frog Pond." The dude in the video clearly doesn't know as much about Maine as you do so you should probably set him straight, so he doesn't continue making an ass of himself.
@@harryballzaky2674 You're right. I should probably do that... maybe he's from Massachusetts.
I'm just playin' with you anyway, buddy.
C'mon up!
I'll show you around to some good hunting spots out in the deer woods!
Maine is beautiful but, Winter is Coming.
It's brutal
It is beautiful in winter, too
Damn that’s nice
👍

Thanks for sharing.
Looks like the cabins will need some additional work. Don’t see how this is usable when your rafters are exposed to insects and summer use only. But forgetting all that it seems like a good property to consider.
Beautiful property though
It sure is
Love your vids
Thanks for sharing them.
Like property
Estimate cost for solar power?
Cost to get septic in and to drill for water.
Dirt is good for gardening?
It has sold.
Is it in Canada or Maine
Is it in Kentucky
So, no water? Has any attempt been made to drill a well? Is there an outhouse? I saw no bathrooms 🤷🏻 It looks like someone has been staying there so.. ?? 😳 Do they just use the woods or do they have an RV or something?
Water..power!?
@@jons1387 It is off grid. The owner used a water collection system, gutters off the metal roof.
No water well. The owner used a rainwater collection system. No attempt to drill. You would have to install an outhouse.
@@petercarson7277 how are they dealing with their sewage? 🤷🏻
Looks like there is a compost toilet in the bunkhouse:)
I turned down a assignment to Loring afb, went to Germany instead great 5 years in Germany but maine has always been in my mind ended up in Idaho, now in my 70s moving not practical.
Thanks for sharing Brad.
is this still avaiable?
Yes
169 for what!?
Cleening up that mess n pay taxes on property..........
^^
Is Maine allergic to asphalt? ;)
Thankfully some parts of Maine are😀

Beautiful property and set up. Did they have trouble hitting water?
Not very often in Maine.
Bathroom? Outhouse, crap in the woods?
Porta Pot, $36 at Walmart 😊
No bathroom. You could install an outhouse or crap in the woods but just dig a small hole first. Thanks Bruce.
@@petercarson7277 After I plow down a Mexican dinner ....I will have to dig a big hole......😏
When I was a kid back in the sixties I had an uncle that had a camp north of guilford much like this . There was an outhouse with old Montgomery ward catalogs for toilet paper and a sign that said be like Dad not like Sis raise the lid before you piss.
I guess for the low low price of $169,000. there are no bathrooms?
Seems to me that bathrooms are everywhere
