I JUST discovered that GoPro DID NOT stop producing the session, they just scaled back production and removed it from their store. It can still be purchased online at Amazon and with that comes a warranty option. Best Buy unfortunately has also dropped that line so that sucks. But they’re still out there and as of now, they’ll continue to be available too.

Nice and the squaretrade 3 year protection on amazon is only $10. i didn't like the hyper smooth film at the end here. IMO it looks like the objects moved in sudden bursts. it was like a different type of oscillation. Less Smooth? I Borrowed a session 5 last summer for a vacation, loved that cam!

I hope GoPro pays attention to RR promotion of their camera, and sees the FPV community as one of their key markets! Maybe they will then consider bringing back the session form factor with some of the high end features of these new cams. Come on GoPro, get with it! How cool would 4k60fps in a session sized cam be!

But the point of this comment is to say that if all the FPV community gets together and we ask GoPro to bring back the Session I am sure they will for the monetary benefit for them. I don`t own a Session, but would love to have one and see GoPro come out with some updated versions.
Gopro bring back the session format but hero 7 internals. How will you fit it. Get rid of the battery, we can supply 5v to run it. I have a runcam split in a case running off 5v. I can now put a 1080p 60fps camera on any quad or plane. Just need 5v 500 ma source. And weights 40g.
I dont know if the lens on the session cameras is different but the image from all the other gopro cameras does not seems as pleasing when used in FPV. The fact the lens is offset to the side of the drone could be a contributing factor.
I am supprised that gopro didn't come out with another session style camera. Not only FPV likes that style but I see a lot of surfers, skaters and other action sports use them because of the weight and size isn't to bad. I didn't see a huge difference in the stabilization. The stabilization is definitely better then past gopros.
Rotor Riot should sponsor an online "petition" to bring it back. Or rather a list of signatures who promise to support the form factor! Advocate us to support the industry and show proof that we want the session back!
I recently started flying fpv quads but i dont have a swwwt nickname and im pretty sure im too old to pick one up. Will i ever be able to fly really well?
i think that snap roll was during the hyperlapse footage, so it's basically a time laspe., so it will miss sections, but only because you've set it to. The footage from the stabilized test has no frame loss that I could notice.
Hyperlapse aside, I am refering to the footage that was labeled "HERO7 stabilization "on" it just didn't seem as crisp as Stabilization "Off". However, as the guys say, it is all just a matter of taste and how you want to present your flight footage.
I just stopped at 7:00 to say I don’t like the stabilized footage. The issue I have is it seems to lose crispness and add a digital haze the footage. The haze took away the rich colors it had. The only thing that may make me use this feature is if I had a vibration I couldn’t get rid of. I would much rather see the raw footage. Thanks for the review tho! :) Tony
@botgrinder I would like to know why your propellers are not seen, usually in the FPV they are shown and it is not a problem but for other types of films it is good that they are not seen and I am interested to know if it is only the mount or you have any special setting for this . thanks
Thank you guys for having fun and sharing it with us! Concerning the gopro 7, I think these new features are absolutely worthless. That gimmicky postprocessing and "hyper stabilization", the form factor etc. And the worst factor - the price. Here in Europe, we have no such luxury of fool affordable insurance. If we crush our very expensive camera - we are screwed. Either buy the old go pro sessions if you are the fan of it or look for an alternative (there are plenty). I do not want this overprized brick, which produces tons of drag on my quad.

Luis Alvarado I’m trying to do a GoPro on a RC truck and need to know the best transmitter/battery/antenna. I’d like to view it on my iPad but I don’t think that’s possible unless I live steam it. May need a monitor as well. If you go to Banggood.com and search wireless video transmitters you can find several if your interested I just don’t know which is the best and which one will plug into the hero 7.

Is it possible to get direct analog video out of the 7? (Like the 3 and 4 had using the the USB connector). Or does a person still HAVE to use a second camera for the actual FPV feed?
Software stabilization in post-production make a way better job, you got the power of a full computer to do the job and you can do a fine setting. If you still own a GPH 5 or 6, you don't need a GPH 7.

I’ve got a few Session 5’s to tide me over for a while, I was always hesitant about buying a Hero 6 as I’d only saw pics and videos on here of them and I thought they looked massive, but I had a look at them in PC World the other day and they aren’t that big at all. I like the cool slow motion stuff guys have been doing with the Hero 6 so I might end up buying a 7 when they’re available locally.
Coppertop FPV my whole point in my post was more to do with the fact that if there was never going to be another GoPro in the Session form factor I personally wouldn’t be fussed having to strap one of these onto my quads if/when my current GoPro’s die, and that I really liked the slow mo stuff guys were doing with the Hero 6. The features of this new 7 look interesting, but you say that the 6 and 7 are exactly the same cameras?

I like the stabilization "off" on the Hero7. You don't notice any frame loss in high rate rolls and flips like with the stabilization "on".

Hang on a minute acro drones are stabilized they are only using a gyroscope and not an accelerometer but there is a lot of stabilization going on.

Don't think its cheating. Smooth footage is smooth footage. Does it increase bitrate or file size using hypersmooth?

I think that the Hypersmooth in the GoPro Hero 7 is very good for Longrange stuff but not for freestyle!
