Fantastic tutorial. As a 73 year newbie I found it very clear and comprehensive. Thank you John.
Even though this tutorial is outdated, and you'll have to search for some fixes and upgraded and updated downloads, this is a complete guide to setting up a home server. Thank You John
having searched You tube, this is by far the best step by step guide for setting up, a web server, FTP and MySQL. Surpurb.......good job.
Fun to see someone who uses Webmin. I started using it in the late 90s and I love it! Thanks for a well presented video!!!
Kevin
Excellent tutorial! I was able to follow you from start to finish without getting confused. I have installed Ubuntu Server on a few machines and it's what I recommend the most often. Hopefully others viewing this video will recognize just how powerful and in my opinion safer Ubuntu Server is
I used this video to finally figure out how to add files to my server and be able to view them online. It was very clear and extremely helpful. Thank you.
One of the f***in' greatest tutorials I've ever seen in my life - I wish I could buy you a beer!
If you are a web host, a web host reseller, a webmaster or anyone in web design or development, this video is a must see. Very important information for free.
Awesome tutorial. This is the tutorial I've been looking for. I'm glad it's the new 12.04 LTS. I just finished installing my own server on a headless box. I'm looking forward for your next tutorial. Thank you very much.
An outstandingly detailed and clear tutorial. I have downloaded the video for frequent reference.
Best Tutorial for anything I have ever done in my life!
Subbed for such hard work!
Good tutorial. Walked me right through everything that I needed. At one point it was installing webmin and he had errors. I went to the web and found the current webmin and downloaded it and had to figure it all out. As I continued the video he explained everything I had just researched. Would have been nice to include a note that that was about to happen.
Thanks, I enjoyed the thoroughness of the tutorial. Looking forward to enjoying more offerings.
This was so helpful , I could not have set this up as easy without this video , I thank you much for posting this , I without a doubt will be watching more of your tuts :)

This is beautiful. Worked the first try, no issues (aside from java, but that was on my end). Thanks a lot!
finally 1 perfect and WORKING tutorial. well done!
Fantastic tutorial; thank you. It's still essentially the same process in 2018.
Wonderfuul tutorial. Am feeling way better at the perspective of working on a web server. thanks a lot
John, thanks for this tutorial, a good reminder having already installed Ubuntu, Lamp & CMS about 2 years ago,
I encountered two things though.
First, errors because of inability to rewrite "ramfs"-something. This was solved by the command "apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade " immediately after the installation of Ubuntu (I installed Ubuntu ssh and then lamp-server)
Second:: The activation of the ProFTPDserver module in webmin, was only visible after logging out and in in webmin.
Thanks for the feedback! Installing a CMS will be uploaded soon.
Great JOB! Got my 2005 Dell laptop server up in an hour. Ever line command was spot on. Subscribed.

People of TH-cam! I had a problem where I couldn't see the Apache page when I typed in the IP address into the browser! I had the Networking Adapter Type set to NAT in the VirtualBox settings. Change it to the Bridge adapter if it isn't working and restart. Before I was getting a IP address of 10.0.2.... but now it is normal and working! Thought I would share this with you so you too wouldn't have to go through hours of misery to get it to work!
if your ip is 10.0.2... then it means your network adapter is on NAT, change it to Bridged Adapter :- Settings - Network - Bridged Adapter(DropDown). Hope this helps
Thank you for your feedback, if you have any requests for tutorials feel free to do so!
