@@AbandonCrabcorekilling boc is a crime, but he didn't miss out on that much. Killing varre is mostly inconsequential. You miss out on a few items and can't get to mohg for a lot longer, but it does in no way break part of tge game.
Never kill an person who is not attacking you. You will be left out of important quest lines and endings, weapons, areas +++ if you kill NPC's. If you only have aggroed them, you can later find a place were you can ask for forgiveness, and the NPC will acts as if nothing happened.

@LtzSaint you can still get to Mohg but it's super end game spot that's hard to get to. So getting the most op rune farming strat and mohgs remembrance will be Inaccessible for most of your play through

@@LtzSaint no Mohg is a boss that drops a remembrance that can be traded for a broken spear. Varré, the guy you killed at the start can send you there early if you do his quest
